It has now been nine months since Damon and Clover first found each other, and their attraction still burns just as deep. Little do they realise, however, that much is about to change in their careers, lifestyle, and relationship. A newcomer’s eyes trail Clover’s movement. Hayden Zilch is a self-made entrepreneur and the new sports columnist for Be True magazine. He is an old friend of Clover’s from university whose eyes once set on Clover and stayed there. They must now re-define their relationship in an ever-changing, ever-challenging environment. An adventure of love, trials, pleasure, and sexual tension pushes Damon and Clover to understand the true meaning of love and lust in the busy world of Manhattan.

It's incredibly adventurous yet enduring.I'm in love with the characters. They wrap an invisible cloak around your heart keeping you close to them long after the words bleed off the page. It's light, fun, exoctic, at heartfelt, yet full of spunk. It hilariously funny yet so real it makes you feel you're apart of the story -Nook Books and More Blog.
You are automatically drawn into the story as you get familiar with the characters. The authors pulses in a twist of each characters pov which is quite refreshing for a change. You get to know each character and understand there passion as it unfolds. I love this different pov perspectives as it shows more detail and interest to the story. Not many authors can pull this off smoothly thought without chopping the story to bit. I can say Ms. Russell pulls it off very smoothly.
The plot is full of mystery, suspense, secrets, devious characters, nefarious acts, and then throw in a determined woman, who won’t let anyone stop her! Clover and Damon have a passion that burns like fire in this story! Be prepared!
The main characters of this book are hilariously funny, witty, and charming. The cluster of friends have a unique bond and explain the average lives and experience people endure. The story brings a true life experience out of it along with a love that's desirable in any eye.
I would highly recommend this series and really any book that this author has ever written . She pulls her heart in soul into her writing. She's impeccable in her writing skills let me tell ya! This series each book can be read as a standalone. It's refreshing when you're pushed for time.
I received this book from the author for an honest review! Loved this book! Awesome series! This is book 2 in The Escort series! You don't want to miss this series!
I received a copy from the author; this is my honest review. In the last book, the prominent color was purple. Now it's red: red car, red carpet, red dress, and the list goes on here too. I'm not sure if the author does it on purpose or not but it's fun. Not sure why someone would throw off a year of love for something that was unfounded. Why doesn't Clover check with the source - Damon? Lots of heartache on both sides for a stupid decision. At least Damon was smart enough to take action. Loved the epilogue. There is so much more coming! If you haven't read the first book, it's better to start there. Each book has their own HFN but there's also an underlining story playing in the back which follows each story.
This is the continued story for Damon and Clover from the My Escort series. This book can be read as a standalone, but for reader enjoyment I recommend reading this series in order.
Damon and Clover have been dating and working together. They are very happy and totally in love. Now, someone from Clover's college days comes to work with them and shows an interest in her, throwing off the dynamic that was created.
Hayden is sincerely a good person and has a history with Clover. He knows her well, knows her family, and makes her feel positive about her life. Damon is jealous of anybody who can be a threat to their relationship and takes this more seriously.
Clover is in love with Damon and does not see anyone else. She is friends with Hayden, but honestly loves her man. When rocky times hit their relationship it is a test of whether what they have is strong enough to get through.
A sincerely great story with honest and strong characters. I was impressed with the sincerity and development. It was a really great read!
Omg I loved this book read it in one sitting!!!! Aaaawww Damon and Clover are so cute!!!! There love is so pure for one another and they truly care about each others feelings!!! When Hayden shows up things get a bit shaking but true love always wins!!!! I really enjoyed the second book from Damon and Clover's story. Its funny and full of romance.
It's been close to a year since Clover started seeing Damon. It's been great so far for them but their lives take a change. Can they stay focused on each other?
Hurricane readers book reviews gave me this book for a honest review
I loved the previous book. I loved insecure Clover having to hire an escort and fall for him and have to try to figure out if he actually cared for her in return and the beauty of the two falling in love. I know I said in the review of the previous book that I was looking forward to this book and the continuation of Clover and Damon’s relationship, but what I meant was, I was looking forward to seeing Clover and Damon on their immediate return to New York, try to see if their fragile relationship which had blossomed in a tropical tourist destination, could withstand returning to their daily lives in the crush of New York City and if they could adapt to each other’s worlds where Damon is filthy rich with all the upper crust functions and upbringings while Clover has a middle-class background. I was looking forward to a Fifty Shades of Grey style of book (thankfully without the BDSM) with her having to navigate an unfamiliar style of having to dress and how to act, and trying to figure out how to act around him, with him having a place of power in the company. But we were robbed of that book when this one skipped all of that, fast-forwarding their relationship 9 months. This book instead focuses just on life in the working world of New York (which I found tedious and not much for me to grasp onto and relate to and it all felt really superficial). (Not to mention there were times when I doubted that it was supposed to be New York since Brit terms crept in on several occasions -no one calls it footy out here-not unless they’re 5, and it’s takeout, not takeaway, and we don’t really call it a cinema here either -not unless someone is trying to be pretentious. At least this book didn’t have the near constant use of the word whilst that the previous book had). Why did Michelle have to give up her high-paying job just because she got pregnant? In the world these days, it felt rather old-fashioned. And I was more than a little annoyed at Clover when she left without hearing Damon’s side. I did enjoy how in love Clover and Damon were and they did make an excessively cute couple and I loved all the things he did to surprise or dote on her, but can’t say I cared much for the NY City high-rise business life. This will be as far as I’m going with the series.
The Amazon description of the book was more interesting, although it did not accurately describe the storyline, of which a few sentences were dedicated to, near the end.
The whole book is from Clover’s point of view. For me - was so blasé. She’s so... plain vanilla yogurt, uninteresting person. I rolled my eyes so many times. I sort of liked her in the first book, at the same time there was a lot I didn’t like. The first book broke things up enough I could get past what I didn’t like.
The only time I enjoyed Clover in this book is when she cut loose on a business trip while being furious with Damon thinking she was breaking up with him. Clover is such a child.
Her love interests kept saying how unbelievably intelligent she was, all I kept saying was, “Really?” Sounds like a whole lot of nonsense and air (monologue) going on. This book was too much of Clover.
So many inconsistencies.
They’re at a birthday party which Clover’s sister had to make a sudden, quick departure and was gone for 3 hours. Only after Clover’s sister returns does Damon want to meet the family, a cousin, to make a good impression. What the hell was he/they doing for 3 hours+ at a party of approx 50 people in a backyard?
Clover and Damon have been steady dating for close to a year and she hasn’t been to his apartment once, and it never occurred to her until a friend says something - uh?
Then Clover is only going to make an over the top stink about it, but only over the last month of their relationship, not all the other months she was never invited over.
Damon’s explanation is he needed to renovate it to fit two, but then the apartment description when she finally get to see it.... now this is just a huge joke, so ridiculous.
Wish there were some hot sex scenes because it would have made it more interesting. Couldn’t have got more dull.
I could go on and on so I won’t other than to say I have no interest in reading the last book at this point. But it was good to read to put me to sleep, so the book has that going for it. Can’t sleep, read this.
Well edited, minor grammatical errors, making for a pleasant read.
In this second novel concerning the relationship between Clover and Damon, the lovers find themselves buried in their work. Damon is the acting head of Be True magazine while his sister Michelle is taking sick leave. Clover has her dream job of a travel journalist, meaning she is traveling one or more weeks of every month. As a result, she and Damon have less and less time to spend together. Both suffer from bouts of jealousy and insecurity and must learn how to resolve these issues before they tear them apart.
Once again, Kia has written a compelling novel that explores the complexities of a successful relationship. The character development in this book is extremely well done. The world building was a little on the light side considering that Clover is a travel journalist, but understandable inasmuch as the book really isn’t so much about her job, but her relationship with Damon. If you’re looking for a fantastic romance, look no further- this is the book to read. My rating: 5 stars.
My Exception is the second book in the My Escort Series which continues the story of Clover and Damon who have found love together and are now trying to adjust and merge their worlds together. Their relationship is put to the test when an old friend of Clover, Hayden, begins work with them which makes Damon extremely jealous. This is a great continuation of their story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was given a copy of this book from the Hurricane Readers group in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this series. This book continues from the My Escort book, following Clover and Damon as they begin to develop their relationship. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a HEA.
