Rarely have I felt so emotional about a book. As I read the last words, there were tears streaming down my face. I really can't remember the last time that happened to me as I finished a book.
This is Lynet and Ian's story. It's the next book in Sherry's The Knights of Berwyck's series. While I loved the others, this is my favorite for now.
All of the characters from her other books have a role in this one. We also meet a very special man, Rolf, who will charm you and make you adore him.
Dristan, Lynet's brother-in-law, orders a competition to win her hand in marriage. Lynet is not interested, but is forced to participate. Ian, who has returned to the castle after a six year absence, has other plans.
This is a powerful and emotional story of love lost, love found and family. It's truly one of the best books of that time period that I have ever read.

Don't Miss Out On This Amazing And Emotional Journey!

Lynet has waited to for six years for Ian to return but after a heartbreaking letter she knows she needs to move on. Then her brother-in-law ,tired of waiting for her to choose another decides to hold a competition for her hand. Ian finds out that he is now a laird and in need of a wife. Ian thinks he just needs to collect Lynet but now he must contend with rivals and Lynet herself to win back her heart.

This book was written so well and I'm so happy that we got to find out what happened with Lynet and Ian from If My Heart Could See You. I just loved Lynet and Ian and really wanted to see them have their HEA. Of course the author doesn't make it easy and there is plenty of laughter, heartache, and action along the way. The plot was action packed with many characters to love and hate. It was very easy to connect with Lynet , she is so caring, strong, and the right amount of feisty. Ian was the perfect amount of sexy, stubborn, and honorable even if there were sometimes I just shook my head lol. Small WARNING do not read this book in the doctors office unless you don't mind strange looks for crying. The one scene is done so well that you can just see it happening in slow motion in your head. NO cliffhanger and has a HEA.

Medieval Historical Romance with some great steam - I can't wait for her next book and I will read this one again!

Lynet has loved Sir Ian since she was 14. Ian has told her to find another love but no-one seems to compare to Ian. Lynet's brother-in-law, The Devil's Dragon, Dristan tires of Lynet finding fault in every suitor, so he proclaims a fair. The winner will win Lynet's hand in marriage. Now Ian must fight for the slip of a girl that has haunted his dreams since he left Berwyck Castle 6 years hence. Their road is rocky to say the least because Ian has competition in Rolf. Rolf has loved Lynet afar and will try to win her as his wife. Kidnappings, Intrutions, and a mean nasty woman are all in Lynet's way of A Knight To Call Her Own. I absolutely loved this book and how it ended but truly saddened also. No spoilers so you will have to read it for yourself. I can't wait to read the next book about Fletcher. EEEEKKKKK. Thank you Miss Sherry Ewing for making my heart hurt tonight. HEHE.

This is the story of Lynet MacLaren, sister of of Amiria who was the Heroine of If My Heart Could See You Now, the first book in this series. Lynet has loved Ian MacGillivray since she was young and has waited for many years for him to return and claim her as his bride. Her brother in law, has decided it is time for her to marry and sets out to find her a suitable match. Lynet is not happy how that husband will be chosen without her having a say. Ian finally returns when he becomes Laird unexpectedly, when his older brother dies. Ian wants to wed Lynet because he needs a wife to take home and is stunned to find it will not be as easy as he thought! The characters come alive and you feel like you are transported to Medieval times due to the wonderful descriptions and in depth knowledge by the author. What follows is mayhem, laughter, tears and adventure which will keep you turning the pages to the end. Loved this book!

Beautiful cover, adventurous story

Lynet has been in love with Ian since she was a child. However, Ian rode away from Berwyck Castle when she was 14 and never looked back.

Now Ian has learned that his brother is dead and he is the new laird of Urquhart Castle. He must take a wife, and his mind turns to Lynet. Meanwhile, Lynet finds that Rolf wishes to marry her. This Dristan will not allow. He arranges for a tournament with the winner claiming Lynet's hand.

This is the situation Ian finds when he reaches Berwyck Castle. If he wants Lynet as his wife, he will have to win the tournament.

There is much treachery and betrayal before love can run its course.

The stubborner they are, the harder they fall. It was very entertaining watching Ian, who did not need any wench and thus spurned her find that he did after all need a bride...and of course, then Lynet wants nothing to do with him. To add to the situation, others did want her and he finds her missing every time he turns around.
Life in the 12th century is not easy and protection your possessions, both property and people who look to you, is not an easy task. The wonderful characters plunge you into castle life of great castle halls, tourneys and living in the wilds of the Scottish highlands. Trials and tears abound before happiness is found. Well done Sherry. Can’t wait for the next one.

Audiobook: This was my first experience with this author's work, and it won't be my last. I was entertained by the thrilling events which happened during the course of this story. I liked Lynet as she was independent and sassy. I found her snarky remarks entertaining. I liked Ian MacGillivray as he was everything one would want in a hero. I followed their dangerous and romantic path with bated breath. I enjoyed Mary L Phillips' narration very much as her performance, showcased by several different voices, added to the story's appeal. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

This is the story of Lynet and Ian. Ian was a soldier when he last saw Lynet. She was in love with him, but he was not of high enough rank for their match (her father). Now, Ian is Laird of Urquhart Castle. He intends to marry Lynet, if he can win the tournament. I find the story concept interesting. The story is well written, and the characters are well developed. I did not connect to the story, it did not pull me in. The narration was good. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. The narrator used a strong Scotish accent. It took some getting used to. Especially her male vouce. I couldn't understand what she was saying a few times. But she put alot of feeling and excitement into the story.

Lynette and Ian. I found their story to be very entertaining. Rough, tough, violent times back then. Lots of events. Lots of action. A nice ending.

I found this book discounted on Amazon via the author's newsletter; this is my honest review.
-Poor Lynet! She's been captured by sore losers and greedy people and hopefully she'll be okay with all the thrashing of her head.
-Ian, for sure, doesn't understand women. From the inn's maids to his betrothed he has women problems that follow him everywhere. Even his own mother causes irritation!
-I have to say I was a bit sad about the love triangle aspect in the story but once I grasped Lynet's heart, then I was fine.
-It's a great love story mixed with a bit of suspense, mystery and supernatural stuff.
-The next book is Fletcher's story and I wished the author had put more of the enigmatic details that were given.

A Knight's Tale!

This was my second full length novel from Sherry Ewing! Having just read "If My Heart Could See You", I was very excited to read more about the characters of Berwyck Castle.
Lynet, now a young woman of 20-something, has waited six years for the knight she loves to return to Berwyck. Her brother-in-law, The Devil's Dragon, has grown tired of her rejecting potential suitors and decides to take matters into his own hands. A tournament has been declared to win the fair maiden's hand, as well as her substantial dowry.
Ian, the gallant knight Lynet has waited for, has spent the last six years doing God only knows what... We find him in a tavern with two buxom wenches on his lap. Suddenly he receives the news that his brother, the Laird of Clan McGillivray has been killed in an ambush and Ian is next in line to inherit. But there is a hitch (pardon the pun). In order to inherit he must choose a bride. It is then that he turns his thoughts to the fair young girl he left behind at Berwyck. When he returns to the castle, his arrival is not met with the fanfare and welcome he expects as he learns what he must do in order to claim his maiden fair.

Sherry Ewing has brought us another page turning story with all the charm and endurance of her debut novel. A Knight To Call My Own is well written, researched and masterfully told with intriguing and unforgettable characters. I loved Ian and Lynet's story! I'm quickly becoming a fan of both medieval romance and Sherry Ewing!

I love this whole series so far! I'm so glad that I discovered it. I am glad Lynet finally was reunited with her Laird Ian and he made peace with his mother. I am glad that Ian overcame the challenges that his family presented. I am hoping that Aidan gets his story next. I am curious what happens with him - as the eldest brother but the castle taken from him, what becomes of him. I can guess but I'm only the reader, not the author.

There are some graphic scenes in this book, from the wedding night "taking" to some of the deaths of several of the characters. If that is not your thing, just be aware that there may be several parts that are not for you. However, historically, it was not a pretty time. These scenes did not bother me - however, I wanted to give other readers the awareness of these parts.

In “A Knight To Call My Own” by Sherry Ewing, the MacLaren’s enthralling family saga continues. For six long years, Lynet of Clan MacLaren has waited for the charming Ian MacGillivray. A competition for the right to wed Lynet is arranged by the exasperated brother-in-law.

The chase of love and the desire to win over Lynet, provides for excellent reading. I liked that Ian had to prove himself worthy of winning the heart of his love after making her wait six years. I found this book to be a great example of historical romance, with engaging plot and well written characters.

Wow Lynet and Ian's journey to find love was utterly amazing. Ms. Ewing has a way with words that wrap around you and make you feel that you are really there with the characters. You even go through the up's and downs in life with them. I really loved this story and can't wait to read more about some of the other characters in future stories
