Published in 1990, it is a foreshadowing of the 2016 election: ultra right-wing conspiracies, violence against those deemed "too leftist", and Soviets interfering in US politics. The plot seems like it is from today's headlines.

well plotted & characterized, though as the series progresses it is moving away from the sci -fi and supernatural elements and into more mundane, if still outrageous, conspiracy theories, Spoiler ahead. stop reading, Garth gets married

One of the best books in the Mongo series and the subversive in me gets a giggle considering plot of this nation's right-wing being a Communist plan.

Absolute Garbage - the worst book I have read in a long while. Got one star as I could not give zero. There are very few books I do not live but this was one of them
