Dancing With Death: Tales From the Macabre

Rate this book
"Dancing With Death: Tales From the Macabre" is a collection of my most morbid stories and poems, a collection that spans several years of my accumulated works that delve into the 'darker' side of the poet's inner, most dimly lit corridors. from haunted trinkets, to 'haunted' minds; I believe there's beauty in horror and an alluring perversion within it: and this book has plenty of both.

Mr. Finch has a rich vocabulary, at least that's what I noticed when reading "Dancing with Death. If you are an Edgar Allan Poe fan, you will realize that his writing is influenced by Edgar Allan Poe's writing. (e.i.) Mr. Finch has an old fashion writing style almost like Poe's. I gave it four stars because I did have a hard time getting through a few tales some tales became very repetitive, and the repetition of words and phrases could be a bit annoying for me. Reason why it took me long to read it. This was the only issue I had whilst reading Lazarus Finch's book; however, his tales are very gruesome, an excellent read for this time of the year. The tale I enjoyed the most was "The Dirge of Death" it wasn't as repetitive, it had a smooth read without abandoning his elaborated vocabulary. I read his book on a kindle, so the format is very awkward that I sort of wish I would have bought a physical copy of the book...perhaps eventually I will to see if I have a different reading experience. I am curious as to finding out if the format is set the same way or different. Because in a kindle it almost feels like it's just one whole story with different chapters all cramped together with no page break, when in reality they are all different tales with different outcomes and experiences. I will do another read to "Tales of the Macabre" with a different perspective since I'm already knowledgeable of its contents. It almost felt as though he was sharing his thoughts and feelings about his life and experiences, but putting it in a hellish world. I would like to know if any one else thought the same or if it was just me. I tried to read in between the lines and I was able to relate and think the same way about certain situations that we encounter in this world. Perhaps I don't make sense, but this is what I felt and understood from reading "Dancing with Death".

* I received this book from the author as an exchange for a review.

If you are prepared to have your mind disturbed, then take a journey with this book. The book was very intense and I had to put a few books between reading it because my heart hurt. I felt really exhausted after reading this book. Do you know the feeling you get when you finally do put down a book and for a moment you can't remember if your real life is the one you are living or the one you were just reading about? It can't be just any book, it is got to be a book so intense that it pulls you into the story completely.

The romance element in this book was intense enough for me to leave a very strong impression! I am afraid I don't possess the vocabulary to accurately describe this book. Beautiful, yes, but that does not do it justice. I was mesmerised from the beginning. This book left me breathless and speechless.

This is such a uniquely, enchanting, astounding story. It was beautifully written and brilliantly told. It will probably leave you with a severe hangover.

If you want to enter a dark world, I highly recommend this book. It is utterly amazing.

I wasn’t too keen on the actual short stories. I liked the writing style and vocabulary. The author is very well-versed.
