A Cut Above the Rest—Alex flitted from one interest to another growing up. Then he discovered the world of fine dining and became determined to be a chef capable of producing magnificent meals. Fresh out of school, he is eager to start work at a restaurant well known for the beautiful, innovative meals its chefs create. He is primed to join the ranks of those masterful chefs—until the day he starts, and learns that he is nothing more than kitchen lackey. Worse, his boss is none other than Nik, the beautiful, infuriating, highly talented classmate that Alex could never best—or resist.
The Competitive Edge—Six months after Alex became Sous Chef at Schulze's, a new challenge is thrust upon him. Selected to be one of five challengers on a new cooking competition, Alex is quick to accept the offer, certain that winning will prove his abilities to Nik and everyone else. Except that to win, he will have to beat not only a handful of strangers, but also Nik, thrusting them right back to the ruthless competition of their school days—and quite possibly ruining any hope of a future as lovers.
Surfeit for the Senses—With the buzz and drama of competition behind them, Alex is determined to focus on the one thing that matters most: his budding relationship with Nik. All the pieces seem to be finally falling into place, but life never stays smooth for long. The combined weight of family tragedy, television fame, and new, unexpected responsibilities strain the bonds of Alex and Nik's partnership, and conflict between them demands they settle the question of equality once and for all...
LT3 Box Sets are compilations of a series or related stories into a single ebook (in the same manner as an anthology). The Appetite Box Set gives you a single ebook that contains all three ebooks in the series!
I thought this book was fantastic! There was such in depth description of the cuisine, it really brought it to life. The smells, tastes, textures, ingredients described showed how much work must have gone into writing this book. There wasn't just "a fish dish" - there was an actual dish described of the quality that fit into the story. The description of the flavors and how one off-set or worked with the others, gave me an understanding of what they were eating; even though I've never eaten such foods myself. I loved the characters. I really felt like I understood them. I identify (to a degree) with Nik, who can seem mercurial but is really just reacting to things even if Alex doesn't recognize it. I liked seeing the comments and gestures Alex came up with to show his interest to Nik, after he realized his envy/rivalry was misplaced. Alex's grasp of English, and the Alex-isms he said, could be so funny! When they were finally officially dating, they made such a better couple than if they had gotten together at the beginning of the story. Alex really needed the time/experiences to mature into a person that could be a real partner, an equal, to Nik. And I think Nik also needed that time to change into someone who could trust and open himself up to another person. They ended up a great couple at the end!
Looooooove Talya's writing ^^ This was an amazing romance story -- perfectly balanced, just like the delicious food ;) I first read this as a fanfic, and I'm so happy that I bought this <3
