Rate this book

But when a woman comes along so unlike the dull socialites and supermodels of his past, he wonders if fate is playing a cruel trick on him. How can a woman so virtuous, and kind, and beautiful in a way that reduces him to a horny teenager ever want anything to do with a hard, cold man like him? He knows he can have her. He never met a woman he could not woo. But in order to keep her, which he absolutely intends to do, he knows he will have to open himself bare and show her the good, the bad, and the ugly Mick. Mick Sinatra is a hugely successful businessman. Mick the Tick is a thug.African-American actress Roz Graham never dreamed the handsome Italian at the audition would soon become the love of her life. He’s rude and crude and brutally honest. But there’s another side to him. The side that treats her, the girl who never got any breaks, like his queen. And when she decides to give her heart to him, she is amazed at the care, the attention, and yes, the love, he gives back to her. Mick For Once In My Life is the first book in the Mick Sinatra Interracial Romance series.

I have never read a book by this author before, but they keep coming up as recommendations. TBH I dislike the covers of this authors' books and probably why I can easily pass them over. That and the blurbs are a tick off putting. But I decided, what the hell, I'll try one.

To be fair, there is a really interesting story here and some strong, incisive character beats. The best parts of the story and what stopped me from DNFing are the specific characterizations of the two mains. Both are charismatic and leap off the page, the romance is built believably and with a lot of attention.

But... all of that gets overshadowed by the technical aspects of the writing. There was head hopping galore. From one paragraph to the next with nothing to indicate perspective change. Continuously. There were tense changes and tense agreement problems. And the typical run of the mill grammatical errors that seem to crop up, i.e. malapropisms and incorrect word usage.

Sometimes I can overlook all that and still feel like I've read a great book. Sometimes a writer has a lyrical or evocative quality in their writing that makes any mistakes almost invisible or even forgivable under the weight of the prose. But that isn't the case here. Like I said, this was a good story with some good characters, but I still felt yanked out of the story over and over because of these things.

In addition it felt like I was transported into a corny 40s gangster drama sometimes. I mean, do people still refer to women as 'dames'? And the over the top guns-a-blazing shoot outs with heaps of bullet riddled bodies dropping everywhere (outside of an acting class theater?)... what the even?

So while I did not hate this, I probably won't follow up with any of the sequels. Just not to my taste.

Outstanding

Wow....if you thought Big Daddy was I intense....and merciless...you were wrong..Mick is a thug....he has no honor....he carries his anger as a badge of honor....no excuses...no.nonsense....he fucks with a purpose...he kills with the purpose of stopping anyone who gives a thought on messing with him or what belongs to him ....he did not however anticipated in meeting a lady like Rosalind....she turned him inside out...from the moment she rebuffed his crass sexual offer to the minute she told him she is not the woman he was used to...he met his match...there's shout out to Reno and Trina Gambrini....and also Big Daddy Sinatra....it looks like a family reunion is coming up in the next installment.....I was so jazzed up with Mick's story...it's good...very good...you will not be disappointed.

Mick and Reno

My two favorite men. Mick is officially my favorite Sinatra. I honestly did not want this book to end. The action and love story kept me reading wanting more. Mallory Monroe always reels me in but for some reason this one had me at HELLO!! I know Mick isn't Reno but he's pretty dang close. They clearly have some of same qualities that I love in these Mob BWWM fantasies. What I love even though Reno was mentioned I didn't feel like the story was the same. Some similarities are present but make no comparison they are different. I can't wait to see what develops from these two. Highly recommend.

Well alright Mick!

I'm not going to lie, I started becoming concerned about the direction the author was taking in her writing, but this storyline definitely restored my faith. Mick is definitely a darker version of Charles. No matter how fucked up their parents were, they instilled an odd level of devotion to truth. I really liked Rosalind and her level of honesty. The only drawback to this book was the telling of the double cross instead of showing. Those parts felt rushed. Otherwise, excellent entertainment. I'm definitely excited to read part 2.

I am a Mallory Monroe fan and she did not disappoint with this story at all.

I loved that Mick was a cynical man who did not play with the truth. He called them like saw them. I loved that Roz could handle his truth. I really enjoyed the journey of their relationship to find love. I really loved that Roz was in it with her man and she did not back down from telling him the truth as she saw it.

I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend this story.

My....My....My......Mick "Mick the Tick" Sinatra aka is a straight beast in the streets with both of his businesses Legal and Not Legal. But there is a woman by the name of Rosalind "Roz" Graham and when he is with her, he is Mick "Angel" Sinatra. Oh Roz has begun to understand what exactly is going on in Mick's world. He didn't sugar coat it because he needed for her to know exactly who he really is. There will be a more detailed review coming soon, so stay tuned.

Mick Sinatra

Very good read - 5 stars. I like Mick. Glad that finally his story was told. I liked him and Roz together. Can't wait to see how Mick and his children will interact with one another. Also, his trip back to Jericho and reunion with Charles. To bad Sprig didn't have the same survival instincts as her brothers. I hope Teddy didn't die. Looking forward to Mick 2.

I loved this story! Mick is so alpha, my kind of man. I liked Rosalind too, she was just right for him. Reno and Trina you better watch out!

Not bad at all....

Good plot and characters well defined. I haven't read many of this author's books but her style is enjoyable and she does a good job pulling off surprises.

I'm glad I'm finally finished. Typical Mallory Monroe drama. It didn't get really good til like the last 20%. Mick clearly demonstrated he was looking for his Trina Gabrini and he found her in Rosalind Graham. Fans will remember when Mick went to Vegas to do business with Reno, he was lowkey tryna pull up on Trina, and she was lowkey feeling him too (fight me!)He wanted that ass, and I think if it were any other man, he and Trina would be together today (fight me!)

That being said, Monroe sticks to the same formula: Hot, Italian mogul with mob ties/affiliations meets younger, independent black woman who's about her business. They fall in like, have lots of hot sex. Something or someone from the guy's past comes back to threaten their relationship, blah, blah. But, it works! This is why we read and love a Mallory Monroe story! This is also why I gave it only 4 stars. The plot was predictable except as always, she always throws you for the biggest loop when the traitor is finally revealed. This damn story ended on a lowkey cliffhanger too. So we gotta wait until the next Sal and Tommy and Big Daddy books drop? I hope there's more crossover in the future because remember, Mick is Sal and Tommy's uncle on their mother's side. At any rate, if you're a fan, click it up. If you're new to the Sinatras, this can be read as a stand alone.

Oh My Lawd!! Mick 'tha Tick!' IS Throwed!! Certifiable, I'm telling you! Book Two in the Series just reaffirmed this opinion. Thank you Ms. Monroe for introducing this Gangta to me! For Real! There Is Nothing fake about this Guy. Nothing.
His OTT is shocking to say the least. He is the crackle in the Rice Crispies and the Loop in the Fruit Loops! He don't take crap off of nobody nor let them get away with foolishness. Not even his offspring. I'd liked to have fallen out of my bed when he swung Junior across that table of 'breaking bread' in the restaurant and told his little A to pucker up. lol!! Play with the grown folks and you get spanked, toddler!! **
And you never know what's going to strike his nerve. I thought Big Daddy Charles was jaw-dropping awesome in Alpha-ville! but Little Brother's got Big Brother beat in some ways. Although Charles no slouch either. He brings it too. (Sorry for slight spoiler, peep! That's the only one, I'm not saying anything about the meet and greet between him and Roz in this book. I just had to pause my reading in the series to comment on the smoothness of Mick!!

SO Worth Waiting For!!!!!

Typical Mallory! Couldn't put this book down -- read it in one sitting. Mick Sinatra is like Reno Gabrini on steroids-- the same charismatic, physically gorgeous, alpha male specimen whose connection with the woman he loves only gets stronger through any and all problems or possible disasters. Likewise, I absolutely loved Rosalind!!!! She was strong, insightful, fearless in the face of potentially relationship-ending situations, and staunch from beginning to end in her love for and support of Mick. Mallory, you done good with this one lady!!!!! Can't wait for the next Mick installment.

WOW what can i say about Mick Sinatra he is so different from Charles Sinatra you wouldn't even think that they would be brothers considering that they are so opposite from each other but the more you got to know mick you can tell that he had a lot of hurt inside of him that he couldn't trust nobody and especially love anybody including his kids but that all had changed once he meet rosalind a.k.a roz she had changed him for the better because even though he didn't believe in relationship rosalind wasn't afraid to call mick out on his bs and like many of his man that was afraid to stand up to him she wasn't and that was one of the things that i like about her she wasn't afraid to call out mick when he was doing wrong and in fact she was the one who encouraged him to spend time with his kids just finally financially but also emotionally. But one thing i also liked about mick he allowed roz to come into his world and allowed her to see the real him and he was honest about him self and at the same time he made her be honest about her self but once thing i can say was that this was a great story

Malory has done it again!

This is another awesome book by this author. I’ve seen Mick’s name being mentions numerous times in other books by this author and I thought why not read Mick’s story. I must that that I was not disappointed. Roz was that little bit of light Mick needed. This goes to show that no matter how crazy we are there is always someone crazy enough to love us or to see pass our crazy

I was heart broken when I read that little Shane died. People can be so mean and cruel sometimes. However , I was excited that Mick was willing to form a relationship with his children thanks to Roz of course. Like I’ve said earlier, this book was not disappointing and I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

I wouldn’t go as far to say this is my favorite series as yet by Ms Monroe but so far there is potential.
Happy reading to those who are about to read this book!

Mick, The Man!

I have read and reread this book and only just realized that I did not write a review. Let me rectify this! I loved this first book about Mick and Roz! They were so good together and I am happy that Mick with all of his faults, finally found the woman for him! Roz was gentle, but also strong and that is definitely the kind of woman Mick needs! I have already read all of Mick's books, but I'm starting from the beginning again, so here goes! You are a great writer Ms. Monroe, so please keep these stories coming!

I am now becoming addicted to the Mick Sinatra series! Whew! This is the first time reading about Mick and Roz. I always would be curious about Mick especially while reading Reno, Sal and Tommy Gabrini's and the connection they have to Mick (Sal and Tommy being Mick's nephews). And, surprised also that Mick is friends with Alex Drakos as well! All of these alpha males are becoming my favorites! Onward to reading the next book about Mick the Tick!

This is my third times reading this book. I loved it every time I've read it. Mick is still up there with Tommy Gabrini who is still my all time favorite of all the Gabrinis a be Sinatras.

My review is the same as it was the first time. I'm going to reread all of Mick's books even though I have so many books that I've not read.

Loving a hard man

It was good to see these two people grow to care for one another. Even though Mick was a mobster he did have some redeeming qualities. Roz picked up on them, and fell in love with him anyway.

After reading so much about Mick Sinatra in Tommy Gabrini’s series, I decided to start this series. So we met Mick, and he met Roz. Here starts another series from MM. it was innocuous enough, until it wasn’t. Enjoy this series…as I know I will

Okay I went throught this whole book in one day... Perfecto! First I would like to add that the first 10 pages had me drawn in completely! The only thing is.. I did not know that there would be more to this series with Mick... which is my fault, I should have looked it up before reading it. Not that I wouldn't have read it, but I wouldn't have rush to finish this one so soon.

Now Mick.. beyond Alpha male which was hella hot and scary all at the same time. I think I love some of these Mafia type books because it shows the level of loyalty these men have for the person they are with. They spare and take no chances... which again is hot ... and scary.

Now Roz.. I thought she was great, although I didn't care for her acting job or her teaching kids..yeah that part made me yawn but other than that she was great for Mick... I mean really great. I was hoping for a baby at the end of this book... no luck hopeful I will get something in the next one... fingers crossed.

I enjoyed Micks characters... Tommy.. nope not so much.

Wow Mick Sinatra

5 Stars for Mallory Monroe. Unbelievable writing. I loved it. This release that msg Monroe has a fresh vision for the Sinatra s. It seems she has connected with this family and the Sinatra hero's are alpha men with hearts of hole. Although Reno and Trina will be my first characters to love. Trina being the perfect mob boss. Rod is the real deal. She is strong yet can compromise. She brings Mick the tick to his knees and h e is better for it. While I'm over Sal and Tommy Sabrina and their cookie cutter women. I want more of Charles Brent,Mick, janay kayla and rod. well dobe
