Eve Vaughn is an automatic click for me I love her stories.

This is Simone and Paul's story. They were also in "What He Wants" by Eve Vaughn and that is when we first meet Noelle and James and this was my first story by Eve. Noelle and James are in this story and it was good to find out how they have been doing as a couple.

Back to Simone and Paul, they are both flawed with scars from their past that impact on their future relationships. I do not want to give anything away but I will say there are some deep themes in this book that may be triggers for readers. One of the themes which hit a nerve for me was the whole "Mothers who put their men above the well-being of their children, especially their daughters". This is a trigger for me so of course when I read what Simone's mother allowed to happen to her, especially in the area of the emotional and verbal abuse, the denial of what happened to Simone, this did stir up my emotions!

This read was engrossing and a page turner for me and I would like to recommend this book as a good read. However, I also want to warn readers that it deals with real deep themes and if you are looking for a light and fluffy read then this will not be the book for you! The story does have a happy ending and no cliff-hangers!

I am looking forward to Misha and Orisa's story in 2016!

Finally

Waited for more on James and Noelle for quite a while. I must say it was good to read more about them and to get to Simone and Paul's story. I love the two of them together and I am glad they conquered their demons. Ready for the next book in the series. This is a must read.

Part of a series (book 2 of Whatever he wants). This is about the cousin who has been sexually abused by her stepfather and her mother treats her like garbage. So she has sex with random men as an addiction. The MC wanted to date her but when he witnessed her having sex in an alley he changed tactics and started to treat her like a random hook up.

They were both damaged people
Each of them overcame their childhood problems by self-soothing in unconventional ways. Paul Winter fell in love with Simone Carter before he met her by the stories his friend and business partner and Simone's cousin Noelle told him about her. The same was true for Simone, but she felt that she was too damaged for any real relationship. Paul's feelings were hurt when he overheard Simone tell her cousin that he was too nice and soft like a milquetoast. This drug up his old dangerous habit of self-soothing to forget what he overheard out of his mind and heart.

Neither Paul nor Simone could make any self-progress until they confronted the demons of their past. Once they were honest with each other and confronted their offending parent, they could really forge ahead with a real loving relationship with each other. They were both very strong people, now that they had each other, they could be strong together in their HEA.

Eve wrote a very heartbreaking story about two damaged people trying to live with their past as best they could. Both Paul and Simone put up good fronts. No one would ever know they were dealing with childhood issues that plagued them as adults. I was so glad that they both had the opportunity to exorcise those demons with their offending parent, especially Simone. I was glad she had the chance to tell off Frieda. Karma is a beotch!

Deep!

Man,this book isn't for the faint of heart; unfortunately it may bring up some bad memories for some people because the subject matter happens way more than people admit.

Paul and Simone are instantly attracted to each other because their damaged souls recognize a kindred spirit. I love the emotions this book invoked in me....I felt all the shame and anger and passion both characters felt; shout out to the author for writing such a powerful story.

The catalyst for Simone was a tear jerker.....I was gut punched by her pain! Her mother needed a beat down in the worst way! Parents have such a profound affect on how their children view themselves as well as how they view the opposite sex and that heffa failed on ALL accounts!! She was not her daughter's keep or protector; she was her daughter's worst nightmare....evil incarnate!

Eve Vaughn is an AUTOMATIC 1-click for me and she never disappoints!

Not bad per say, but just not good

Okay, so I think I just expected more. The first book was so good, but there was just something super formulaic about this one. It felt more like a checklist of romance cliches than a good book. Also, I need people to chill out. This book was definitely tamed, and nothing "gross" or super smutty happened. Where some people deal with sexual trauma through acting out sexually, some people become intimacy anorexics. I thought the author really tried to broach this complex subject, but I can tell that a true understanding of it was not had, or at least not expressed in the book. There was just something kinda cheesy and inauthentic about this story, but it made me look forward to Misha and Orisa's story. There's something fantastic there and I hope time and care is taken with it.

Thank you God for Eve

Every time I get ready to give up on IR novels some of my favorite writers save the day by publishing new work. Eve once again you do no disappoint. The story was raw, reverting and actually hit really close to home personally. The characters were flawed without being depressing (I don't need a ton of hard reality to enjoy my books, life is complicated enough as it is). Both the hero and heroine were like able and I enjoyed the supporting characters. The story was real enough without being oppressive and of course the sex and chemistry was HWAT. I look forward to the next book and thanks for NEVER writing so called cliffhanger novels!

Oh dear I guess am the only one who does not like this book as much as some of Eve's books. The story is so cliche for me he was worse that Jame's character because he was more damaged that James (the previous book - whatever he wants). All the characters are similar to all of Eve's characters and the love scenes were all the same. It seems Eve copied and pasted the sex scenes. I didn't like this book

Setting her sex addiction aside, Simone was an unlikeable person. She did not have much to offer to the people in her life - her friend, her employee, and especially James. James was compassionate, giving, perceptive, and protective. He deserved better.

A quick read that helped my reading slump a bit. I read the first book years ago and thought it was time to give this second book a chance. I like the characters but I can’t recall them talking to each other much in the previous book, but they were still in love? All the reader saw was the attraction but they didn’t really get to know much about the other until late into the book. Would have loved to see them enjoy each other’s company while pining for each other. Not sure I’ll read the next book.

I got through it

I really felt for Simone, she was in one of the worst situations and I could understand why she did the things she did. I haven’t read the previous book so I don’t know how the characters have developed from there.

This was powerful and moving

I know everyone is saying how dark this is..but I don't think so...these two broken souls are left to deal with horrible childhood traumas...which should have left them dead or in prison or a mental institution...but they grew up to be functioning successful adults ..each dealing with their demons in very destructive ways...but where able to work towards enlightenment...by the way James and Noelle from Anything He Wants are mentioned in here a few times..nice to see them blossomed into a perfectly happy couple...I would have loved to give 5 stars..but at this point in Ms. Vaughn writing career...she can afford a top notch editor for grammatical errors.

Dark Romance

Wow! This was a really good book, Great story, unique and with beautifully flawed characters. Sometimes romance/erotica can get a little boring or stale, at times I feel if you've read one you have read them all, but every now and then you want something a little different, and this is that type of book. Both Paul and Simone had very tragic and I mean tragic childhoods. Both were scared and had tons of baggage, that they brought to the table. At first, I didn't think I was going to like this book, Simone seemed kind of out there for me and Paul seemed to have a split personally and the story was a little dark but it really turned out to be a winner! Worth every penny.

From Darkness into the light

This is a excellent novel dealing with child abuse , mental health , bullying, anger, and adults healing from trauma. Paul and Simone was two damage souls trying to make sense and dealing with issues that harbor from childhood. This novel is a page turner, the secondary characters add to the suspense
of the novel which will leave you with mixed emotions ,and the title is truth because this novel is truly Dirty and most definitely pull on your heart strings.

Eve Vaughn is a favorite author, but I have to be careful. Sometimes she veers into alpha-hole territory, and I loathe that. This book was absolutely perfect. The title is appropriate, totally reflecting both characters view of themselves as very damaged people. Coming from a social service background I also appreciate that she didn’t wrap this up with a nice HEA bow. Damage on that level cannot be cured with love, not matter how deep. These people needed long-term counseling and this story reflects that reality.

Good story needs editing

The story is gritty, which I like. The heroine has serious coping issues, her dirty secrets, stemming from childhood abuse (skipping the spoilers) that drives the story and puts her at cross purposes with the hero. The H isn't perfect, since he's dealing with his own demons, which makes this story work for me. I would have rated higher if the editing was better. I'd still recommend though.

Excellent Read!

Both Paul and Simone had demons brought on by terrible childhood abuse. This story was told with sensitivity but with the main characters having such great chemistry, it made for an excellent read. Ms. Vaughan never ceases to amaze with her gift for storytelling.

Didn't know what ti expect

Well after reading noelle's story I thought this one was going to be similar but it wasn't. It was how a woman dealt with hurt and paid. In addition a man who did not know how to control his temper.
