I decided to try a new author and saw this series on FB today so threw caution to the win and read it:) Great read, it was a short and very sweet n sexy read!!!!!!!!
Loved it and will be starting the next book in this series tonight!!!!
Chase was a brilliant character. I really liked that he was so honest. He never lied to Penny about what he wanted from her. His adventurous side is deinitely what I liked most about him. I would love to be that adventurous. He lives a really amazing life and certainly lives life to the fullest, in every aspect!
The only teeny thing that annoyed me about him was how he expected Penny to know and trust him implicitly, when they had only known each other for a few days. I think he needed to realise that even though they are in love, they really don't know each other yet and she has the right to freak out about things if she wants to.
Penny was fab. I really liked that she was so open about how rigid her life has become. She isn't an adventurer at all but I admired her so much for her eagerness to try new things. Even when she was super nervous, she was brave and tried them anyway. Like I said before, she is very quick to react and come to conclusions but she's also big enough to admit her faults and apologise. She rocks!!
Okay, there were some parts where a little bit predictable. But it was more of the basic outline of the story than anything specific. I knew that there was going to be a quick drama added in, otherwise things would be too simple. But we didn't know exactly what would happen.
Overall, I thought it was a brilliant novella. This is definitely the kind of story I would recommend to someone who was looking for something not too long or complex, super sweet, light and sexy too.
I think there could have been more of a mention of this 'club' he and Evan are supposed to be a part of though. It was only very briefly mentioned, so I was intrigued, but then we didn't hear anything more about it. So I was a tiny bit disappointed with that aspect.
Trust me people, a Kym Grosso book will never let you down :D
This book was okay. From the synopsis I was expecting a story that was different to what I actually got (in terms of the plot). The story itself I thought was too rushed. Things between the characters happen way too quickly. I think it could have been a better, more enjoyable story to read if their relationship had developed at a slower pace.
. What an amazing new beginning to a new series by Kym Grosso!! "Solstice Burn" is the prequel (novella) to her new series "Club Altura" This series is NOT your usual Millionaire Bad Boy series, Oh no.... it is soooo much more than that. Danger, intrigue, romance and an excellent story line.
Chase is a multi-millionaire who loves to live life dangerously to keep the adrenalin pumping. While Chase is on a deep sea diving expedition, he meets Penny Travis. Penny is a hard working Lawyer who is very reserved and quiet. But when she meets up with Chase the fireworks between them begins. Chase wants nothing more than to show Penny a world that she has only fantasized about.
Although this was a Novella, it read like a full novel.... I cannot wait to read more in this amazing new series and I recommend it to everyone!!

REVIEW: 4.25 stars-SOLSTICE BURN is the prequel novella to Kym Grosso’s adult, contemporary Club Altura erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the members of Club Altura and Emerson Industries. This is researcher and extreme sports enthusiast Chase Ellsworth, and New York attorney Penny Travis’s storyline. SOLSTICE BURN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.
NOTE: SOLSTICE BURN can be found in the anthology Summer Fire (May 26, 2015)
Told from dual third person perspectives SOLSTICE BURN follows the building relationship between Penny and Chase. On vacation in Precioso Beach, Penny catches the eye of Chase Ellsworth-a man who earlier rescued our heroine following a disastrous afternoon of snorkeling. What ensues is Chase’s seduction of Penny with the knowledge that our couple only has four days before the real world comes to call.
SOLTICE BURN is a quick read; a story of insta-love between two people whose lives and businesses are on opposite sides of the country. When Penny perceives betrayal, our heroine returns home in the belief everything Chase said about his life was a lie.
The chemistry between Chase and Penny is explosive; their sexual attraction off the charts. The $ex scenes are provocative and erotic. Some information about Club Altura is revealed as it pertains to society’s expectations and membership requirements but the storyline remains focused on our leading couple. We are introduced to Evan, whose actions will be the background to CARNAL RISK book 1 in the Club Altura series.
SOLSTICE BURN by Kym Grosso is quick and HOT read you should definitely pick up! This was my first book by this author and I must say, I’m a fan. SOLSTICE BURN is the prequel to Kym’s new series, CLUB ALTURA – which FYI, I’ve started and it’s fantastic.
This novella follows Chase and Penny’s story. Right from the very beginning I enjoyed how this installment was written. It allowed me to fully understand the characters and their personalities…which let me tell you, they were quite the opposite.
Chase was more of a free-spirited kind of guy, while Penny was all about focus and control. This was mainly why I believe Penny needed Chase in her life. She needed to actually live her life, instead of just existing through it. Fate truly intervened here by bringing these two souls together. Their chemistry sizzled ad I truly felt it!
Now, while SOLSTICE BURN was a quick read, it did not feel short or lacking. I actually enjoyed just as much as I do a regular-length novel, so props to the author for developing the plot line and characters so well! Go one-click this one! I highly recommend it! :) 4.5 stars!
WOW!!! Simply WOW!!! This is Kym Grosso's first foray out the paranormal world & I have got to say, she hit a total home run!!! This is a quick sexy little vacation novella.
Penny Travis works 16 hour days back in New York City trying to get that vaunted Junior Partner position in the law firm she works for. When her friend talks her into taking a vacation to Precioso Beach all she wants is some fun in the sun, a chance to relax & breath. Little does she know that she's going to meet a sexy billionaire when she almost drowns during a snorkeling trip.
Chase Abbott is taking a working vacation at Precioso Beach. While on a dive he sees a beautiful woman going under & manages to catch her before things turn dire. He hadn't come to Precioso to play, he didn't really have time for the distraction of a vacation fling. But he can't stop thinking of the mermaid he saved.
This is what happens when two hard-working people feel an undeniable attraction. Come along & enjoy this wonderful little novella, the first in a new series by Kym Grosso.
This is new genre by Kym and I have been a big fan since I started reading her paranormal series Immortal of New Orleans and let me tell you she did not disappoint in her new contemporary series.
Penny decides to take a much needed vacation with her friend Tara never expecting to meet a man let alone a man as sexy as Chase.
Chase is an adrenaline junkie and Penny is not adventuress in the least. When Chase rescues Penny sparks fly but neither one is looking for love. The pull is there and they enjoy the time the have with some hot times together. They don't want to see the vacation end but reality soon hits, misunderstandings abound. Can they work this out? Can living on opposites coasts be too big a problem? Will Chase's past be forgotten? Can a compromise be reached? What will happen to these two opposites?
This storyline and the cast of characters are well developed and I can't wait to see more of them.
Great job Kym on your debut book into this new genre!!
I am a HUGE fan of Kym so I was excited that she was working on something completely different and that this was a taste of what's to come. So, of course, I had to one click and get taste...and boy was it a delicious *wink*
Keeping in mind it was a novella I knew I wasn't going to get a full in depth story but boy did I want to know more when I was done. I could not get enough of Chase and Penny. Their dynamic was adorable and mesmerizing. I laughed out loud a few times at Penny's shyness and playful banter, I really enjoyed her character as she developed through out the story. Chase was a bit of a mystery, but I think that's what made me like him more and more as the story continued. A man with deep desires and a dangerous side that you will find irresistible. AND HOLY HELL the beach scene...That's a place to keep bookmarked *wink*
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

* * received ARC in return for an honest review * * I absolutely loved this story. This was a first for me by this Author Kym Grosso.
Penny is ready for a vacation but she just didn't realize all that she would experience . Chase is beautiful, sexy, strong and at the right place at the right time, coming to the rescue of Penny. when this two meet its love at first sight but at first it's just for fun but when you have two sensual people it's hard to keep love out of it. Chase is just awesome and when him and Penny let go it gets hot, but how do you keep love alive when one is in NY and the other is in CA. I loved this book the characters were awesome. Kym does an awesome job making you feel apart of the story. definitely looking forward to more from her.
Ok so i am really madly and truly in love with the whole Immortals series from Kym Grosso so after finishing it and Hearing her speak on some vid'S on Facebook About her other series i thought sure different but i'll give it a try considering i read many different typs of books and authors i didnt mind that ist compleatly different from the immortals series but i was somewhat dissepointed. Don't get me wrong the Story is intresting the caracters are well thought out but in my opinion the storyline has some flows granted you'd likely not notice untill you read all the books that are out so far but in my opinion some Things just dont add up. I'll just give one exsample to not spoil it for those who are still reading or want to read the books……. in the prequil Even is taken and beaten then stuck with something while being told he will have a skdiving accident the next day. Now this book starts with that accident and his friend never believing it was an accident but claiming his friend gave no signs that anything was off so for one i would Thing as he was being slapped around he would Show bruising or other inguries the next day and why the hell would he jump if he knw he was ment to die sure they could have something on him but again there should have been signs of his capture in my book that just doesnt sit Right and if they used someone else id assume his Friends would have noticed it wasnt him all very Stange well i sure hope that t some Point These strange issues get sorted there are more but as i said no Need to ruen the books for others. Now if i leave away the Things that to my mind just dont meke sense the books are good not something i'D want to reread but good enough that i'll defnatly pick up the next one to come out. i do have to say i liked the main books Carnal Risk and wicked rush better then the two Shorts they just seemed much better thought out. I do think the clube sceans are to few and mostly to tame for my taste but wicked rush did have a nice menage sceen.
So all in all i have the books 3 stars mainly because somethings dont fit and i miss the hot sensual sceens i'm so used to of Kym's books.
the relationship didn't feel like it grew organically. perhaps it was because this is a short book and that the leads had only a week on a vacation island together. their attitudes from fling to serious mode changed too quickly. there was a feeling of shallow infatuation. maybe if we got to listen in on some bits of their first dinner conversation and sensed their connection it would seem more grounded but the readers got a casual summary before their walk on the beach.
there were at times too much daydreaming and inner monologue. Penny was caught daydreaming and distracted during a potentially life threatening situation and after she was caught she fell into another long stream of distracting thoughts. ugh. it was like talking to my 7 year old while he watches his favourite tv show - nothing absorbs.
spoiler alert didn't it seem strange that after the first time they had sex he didn't pull out and waited until his soft member had him slip out naturally? yes, she sleep on him but it seemed almost pointless to have used a condom. or at least why mention when he had slipped out? I had originally thought the condom was taken care of without mention and wouldn't have thought twice. I guess if this produces a baby I'll understand the author's choice.
DNF at 70%. I started skimming sentences and as penny and chase talked about their feelings and what to do after their vacation I realized their personalities and characters were too bland for me to carry on. we really didn't know much about penny other than that she's a lawyer, had a good friend who she didn't hang out with much on the island and had been hurt before but I didn't see that colouring her glasses much. chase had money, does something or deals with Penny's firm, he collects underwater samples and apparently is part of a club who's members love doing risky activities but didnt show much of that side in the book.
This book is all about finding your limits and then pushing past them.
Penny Travis is a New York attorney who, after find her boyfriend in bed with someone else, dumps him and is convinced to take an all girls vacation to Precioso Beach, a nude beach. While snorkeling for the first time, Penny almost drowns and is saved by Chase Abbott, handsome, wealthy executive and extreme sports junkie.
Their connection is instantaneous. Chase pushes Penny to push her limits, both in and out of the bedroom. The sex scene on the beach is major sexy.
The only problem? Chase lives in San Diego and Penny lives in New York. Both of them start out believing they can do their four-day vacation and walk away, hearts intact. But it doesn't work that way.
I loved this book. Chase was honest with Penny from the beginning about any prospects of a future between them. Chase was a strong, determined character who pushed Penny to her limits. Penny was filling to force herself past her limits, which forced her to realize that her life had become stilted and boring. We've all been forced to face this limit and decide what will happen. Can Penny change? The decision is hers alone.
Evan was another interesting character. He gave us a look into Chase's personality. I wish we could have seen more of Tori, Penny's friend. It's fun to see the story unfold from a different perspective.
Audio Review This is a quick read. I was able to listen to it in one day while working. The narrator and story pulled me in and made it hard to turn off. Penny is a layer in the big city and decides to take an overdue vacation to an exclusive adult resort. She is not very adventures so going on this vacation is out of her norm. Penny finds herself in a bit of an issue on one of her excursions and face to face with a hansom scuba diver. Chase is an amazingly sexy man who knows what he likes and will go after it. Chase sees something in Penny and wants to show her she does have an adventurous side she just has to give in and let it show. This is a great start to a series and I’m intrigued to read more. I enjoyed the chemistry and connection of Penny and Chase.
Such a short read but oh my it was a funny and sexy ride! I loved it! It was a bit rush but hey it was a short story so I think as for short read it was quite well put together But wish there was bit more in the end I was bit upset there was no epilogue... but I hope there will be more about Chase and Penny in the next books of the series!
If you are looking for a new series to start here is one. This short novella was great. Penny goes on vacation to the Caribbean's and she meets Chase. But they live thousands miles from each other. They hit it off ,steaming hot if you ask me. But will they find love or just an affair to remember? Read it to find out.
Penny and Chase had great chemistry in this insta-love novella. It was sexy, and even though the love came fast it didn't feel fake. I felt like their feelings really evolved over the course of the vacation. It was plenty of sex, but not just sex. The actually spent time talking and getting to know each other.
I can't wait to see how this rest of this series holds up.
Hot and heavy. Short and sweet. Hot, hot, hot! This was supposed to be just a week of vacation of relaxation and fun in the sun. T least that is what Penny thought. Then she met Chase and everything changed.
This is a great quick read about finding unexpected love while on vacation. I recommend it if you are looking for something to read while sitting on the beach or next to the pool.
This is a fun entertaining read about two people who meet when the guy saves her life while she is on vacation. Once their eyes met they were hooked on each other. They may have had more than a vacation fling. Enjoy I did.
This was a great novella. It had some drama and it was hot. Not to mention it introduced the characters that will be seen in the rest of the series. Or at least a few of the characters. It is definitely a must read.
A workaholic woman goes on vacation with a BFF and meets a hot, very adventurous man. He dated her to push herself out of her usual safe comfort zone. Nice romantic story.
I loved this book. Penny, an attorney, is on vacation and Chase saves her while she is snorkeling. They have a hot romance and as time passes, they realize that this could be so much more. I really enjoyed their relationship and even though this was a short story, it was very enjoyable.
Picked this up at a used bok store because i was looking for something small to fill a gap on my bookshelf and something that I could still read in a few hours and this book is exactly that. Short, sweet and spicy. My only real complaint is that I feel like the blurb on the back of the book doesn't really match what actually happens very well, even though I loved what actually happened I feel like it may be a little misleading
