What happens when the man she still loves shows up with another woman—and Gabriela has just told everyone she came with a boyfriend who doesn’t exist?
Gabriela is a talented dancer, a hopeless romantic, and a woman who is trying very hard to convince herself that she has moved on from Asher. After spending years together, their relationship may be on a break, but her feelings certainly aren’t. So when she walks into an extravagant Manhattan event and finds Asher with a beautiful blonde, her carefully planned attempt to reconnect with him quickly turns into a battle for her pride.
Then she makes one disastrous she tells Asher’s father that she has brought a boyfriend.
There’s only one problem.
She doesn’t have one.
Desperate to save face, Gabriela finds an unlikely solution in Callum, a strikingly handsome stranger who agrees to play the part. He should be nothing more than a convenient plus one, a temporary partner in a carefully constructed game designed to make Asher jealous.
But Callum is unexpectedly charming, effortlessly attentive, and far too easy to be around.
What begins as a fake relationship soon becomes dangerously difficult to distinguish from something real. Stolen moments carry more weight. Chemistry becomes impossible to ignore. And Gabriela finds herself questioning whether getting Asher back is really what her heart wants anymore.
Because Asher may still have feelings of his own.
Caught between an old love she never truly stopped wanting and a new connection she never saw coming, Gabriela must decide whether she is trying to reclaim the past—or finally giving herself permission to choose something different.
Sometimes a fake boyfriend is the worst idea imaginable.
And sometimes, he turns out to be exactly the plus one she never knew she needed.
I got my romcom-hungry hands on an early copy and absolutely ATE THIS UP!! The plot. The setting. The characters. EVERYTHING. 😭🩷
This was seriously the perfect relaxing summer read, with just the right amount of spice, a handful of drama, and enough romance to make me want to DIE. The whole story had me hooked, and it was exactly what I was looking for and MORE!!
If you’re looking for a fun, romantic summer read that’ll keep you entertained from beginning to end, PLEASE pick this one up! I had such a good time reading it and will 100% be waiting for whatever Miss Silva writes next. 🤭💞
I enjoyed the opening chapters of Plus One. Gabriela is funny, insecure, and sometimes frustratingly naive, which makes her feel believable. Her interactions with Randall are especially entertaining, and the awkward encounter with Asher kept me interested.
The pacing could be tighter, as some internal monologues and descriptions feel repetitive. Still, the humor, natural dialogue, and Gabriela's personality make this a promising start.
