WINNER OF TWO 2017 RUBY AWARDS - BEST LONG ROMANCE AND ROMANTIC BOOK OF THE YEAR

Sometimes Mr Right is Mr Wrong, and Mr Wrong is definitely Mr Right . . .
Television reporter Chloe Masters is a woman of cool control . . . except when Casanova rugby league player Nick Savage is around. Then cool control goes out the window. Her boyfriend, Marcus, is everything she ever wanted - but it's getting harder to deny her body's reaction to Nick . . .
Nick Savage has been head-over-heels since he first laid eyes on Chloe - just a moment too late to stop her connecting with his team mate, Marcus. But when the goalposts shift and he and Chloe are thrown together on a week away, Nick dares her to get physical in whatever way she wants - with a kiss, a punch or anything in between. And if Chloe claims to feel nothing, he'll leave her alone for good.
How can Chloe say no to a week of mindless passion with the man she hasn't been able to get out of her head?
Trouble is, a lot can go wrong (or right) in a week . . .

I love any and every book written by Avril and Escaping Mr. Right was amazing. Nick, the H, has been HOH in love with Chloe, the h, but with her dating his teammate (rugby), the love remains undeclared and unrequited. This situation has Nick untethered and on edge which makes him extra snarky to Chloe, who retaliates by being extremely antagonistic.

Things come to a head when Nick steps forward to declare his feelings while stating his intent of stealing her from her current BF. With the gauntlet thrown, he then focuses on her, in a single-minded way that will make you swoon.

This book was never boring and all characters, both main and supporting, were delish. Highly recommend.

I even don’t know if I would manage to mention everything that happened in this book.
After thoughtfully reading all reviews, I had a hope that my assumptions about the cheating I got from the blurb would come out to be wrong. Wrong, it was true.

TSTL female protagonist/FP was in long-term relationship with a nice guy, but was permanently and openly hit on by the team’s manho/male protagonist/MP. He was in lust with her for over the year, but it didn’t stop him to sleep with countless OWs and to parade them in front of the FP.

She kissed him as she was still in relationship with her bf/his team buddy -> and in my world it calls cheating. She broke up with her bf afterwards, and only short time after had sex with MP in the airplane bathroom.

The good part of this story was about orphan children, MP helped much since he was an orphan himself.
But this good and heart-melting part got lost in a mess of a “romance”.

I won’t even bother to ask myself how a woman with at least bit of self-respect could cheat on her bf and go after a man who didn’t even try to change his manho-ish ways. But I clearly understand, that if I don’t find it attractive to “bounce on the pole” which was previously “bounced” by thousand OWs, nobody does.

Othello-drama, TSTL moments, doubtful decisions, attempt to justify the cheating through making FP’s ex-bf gay, manipulation by MP, more drama and so on… resulted in implausible HNF.
And I don’t even care if MP slept with OWs during their short separation.
They both deserved each other.

Thoughts: I am amazed at how much I loved this book! Honestly, lately I’ve hit a point were I was just reading a lot of duds…a few good books, maybe a great one here or there. But I was really longing to read one of those truly exceptional ones – the ones that have you glued to the pages until you reach the end….the ones that pull such an emotional reaction from you. I was finally able to say – I found one!

I admit, at the beginning I had my doubts….I even seriously considered just stopping. The book kind of seems to start in the middle of a something, which had me wondering if I’d accidentally jumped forward with my kindle and was now on page 100 instead of 1 – and the character’s sort of seemed to have a lot of history where I wondered if I was missing a book. However, that all sorts itself out rather quickly, and you find the desire between these characters simply overflowing the pages. The lines are passionate and the utter longing that Nick has for Chloe literally had my stomach clenching and my breath catching in my throat. You will definitely see this book again in my end of the year reads – and that’s saying something since we are just getting started for 2016.

Loved it!! I will definitely be exploring other titles from this author as well!

I was so totally with this book that I would have finished it one sitting had my ereader's battery not died. Let's just say it was a long agonising wait for it to charge back up!

Escaping Mr. Right was the most perfect, quick, hilarious, romantic book I've read in a while. I totally devoured this book in one massive gulp and was left with the worlds biggest book hangover for days afterwards.

Just to emphasise how much I LOVE this book, I literally have a note on the THIRD paragraph of the narrative that reads: Fun quirky start. Love the humour and the characters already. That like never happens. Ever. What's more Tremayne's dialogue was superb. It was really natural, but super witty too and in the moment.

Chloe Masters is a television news reporter who appears to have the world's most perfect life. With a well paying, high-flying career and the perfect leading football star Marcus as her permanent eye-candy and leading man, she's living the life that women around the world are drooling over. There's only one problem however, it's mostly a lie. While she has the career, she wants a more serious reporting gig and not some fluff piece that nobody really cares about. And as for that eye-candy leading man? Well he and his team mate Nick Savage are about to rip the floor right from under her. Oh and have I mentioned that her emotional well being was on tenterhooks anyway thanks to a rough childhood that she goes to great lengths to hide? Yeah, her ideal and perfect life is about to go to hell; Nick Savage is about to take her there.

Nick Savage is a man who knows what he wants. And he wants Chloe Masters. Never mind that she's the serious long-time girlfriend of his friend and team captain, Marcus. Relationships are fleeting and nothing is set in stone. However when a kiss goes to far, he risks losing Chloe for good. Quick thinking and desperation actions on behalf of both him and Marcus see Chloe forced into taking a reporting gig in Manila to cover a charity building a playground for an Orphanage. The news story has heart, but can Nick win Chloe's?

Tremayne really showed just how much of a seasoned pro she is with this narrative. Not only is the book perfectly polished, but it is so well paced in terms of story and sexual chemistry that before you know it you'll have reached the final page sooner than you intended. The characters, particularly Chloe and Nick, are larger than life and they don't so much as leap of the page, as run you down in their race to prove themselves and come out on top in their highly competitive, psychological game of catch-me-if-you-can and kiss-my-arse.

While this book is hot, steaming with flirtation and unresolved sexual tension and chemistry, Tremayne has done the impossible and also build in a strong emotional and humanitarian story line that compliments the romance aspects of the book. I balled my eyes out in passages of this book, with my heart breaking constantly for both Chloe and Nick as we delved further into their back stories and what they were confronting head on in Manila. Honestly, you think you know these pair, or at least their type, at the start of the book only to be proved time and time again just how wrong you were. I really appreciated how Tremayne was about to contrast the fun and flirty with the serious and heartbreaking hard reality of orphanages and children left behind.

At it's centre this is a book about family, love and being left behind. It's about enduring love and self worth. It's about being able to let your walls down and let someone in despite the pain that is sure to come. It's moving, mesmerising and just so brilliant you won't be able to pick up another book for at least another week! Have I mentioned that I loved this book? So what are you waiting for? Get yourself a copy NOW!

I've never read any of Avril Tremayne's books before, but I'm definitely a fan now and will be one-clicking her back list as quickly as I possibly can. With Escaping Mr. Right she has firmly cemented her place on my MUST buy list.

Escaping Mr Right isn't the only book set in this book world. Wanting Mr Wrong was the first book, and although the characters from that book have cameos in this one, I don't think you miss anything buy not having read it first.

What can I say about this story that it is amazing it has so many emotions throughout you will be laughing out loud shedding some tears wanting to smack people there really are so many feelings this story is so good I loved Chloe Masters the heroine who always seems perfect she has been in a relationship for one year with top footballer Marcus he is Mr Right according to Chloe but things seem to be changing and Chloe is in need of a bit more loving and with one of Marcus's team mates Nick Savage pushing Chloe's buttons things are going to heat up and change for them all.

When Nick and Chloe TV reporter end up going to Manila to do a story on an orphanage to promote the footy team and with Marcus pushing her to go this is where we see Chloe change her spots with Nick's help this week in Manila turns out to be hot sensual and very passionate as well as emotional as both Chloe and Nick learn so much about each other and themselves and I loved seeing Chloe come out of her perfect state and let lose. Of course the course of true love never runs smoothly and theirs is a rocky journey but you will need a fan for this one, what a fabulous trip to their HEA it is the dialogue is just the best the feelings ooze off the pages and this is a book you will not want to put down thank you MS Tremayne for hours of reading pleasure my recommendation is do not miss this one grab your favourite drink sit back and enjoy this ride it will defiantly have you smiling at the end and dreaming of a Nick for yourself.

Avril Tremayne brings oomph, sass and giggles to the pages in her book Escaping Mr. Right. I loved the energy/vibe Nick Savage projected throughout the story and Chloe Masters won me over with her attitude! It’s hard for me to give a tiny synopsis of this story without giving away the plot. But all I can say is that Ms. Tremayne takes two polar opposites and makes them a positive. I deeply enjoyed the struggles between Nick and Chloe as they discover themselves in a whole new way. Chloe and Nick’s dramatic yet hilarious journey in reaching their happily ever after they so deserve held me captive until the end. Overall, a fabulous story with a dreamy hero and a sassy heroine that will entertain right down to the last word!

I loved this book so hard. This is a classic romantic comedy from Avril Tremayne, which delivers on the laughs but doesn't shy away from a few serious and emotional issues. The heroine, Chloe, is a journalist and the story is told from her point of view in first person and it's done so well. She's trying to work out the hero, Nick -- why is he always staring at her? She has a boyfriend, even if things don't seem to be going so well... Nick is a hunky rugby player and super intense, homing in on Chloe like a heat seeking missile (great line from the story's opening). No spoilers from me but it turns out, underneath the surface and their carefully constructed personas, they have the same kind of vulnerability. When they finally choose each other it's all melty and very hot!

This book is full of emotions that have you right from the start.

The saying "blink, blink, breathe, blink" sums up what you feel through out the whole book.

Chloe masters thinks she has the life she has always wanted. She has a great career, friends and a boyfriend. Her life is turned upside down by one mistake.

Nick Savage is a footballer who has a reputation with the ladies, but is it the right reputation. Chloe has been there in his life but how can he get her to take him seriously.

They are thrown together for a week of promotion, can they fight the attraction that has been there.

Avril has written a book with a rollercoaster of emotions and shows how two people can find common ground and learn to love when they thought it didn't exist.

This book blew me away! Another book up for a Ruby award this year, and I can see why. An emotional roller coaster in the biggest way. Some things can't be controlled, no matter what one tries or believes. Chloe Masters is the goddess of control with a cool exterior, however, hiding inside was an insecure frightened child, except when around Nick. All bets were off. Sparks flew in all direction. Nick Savage - Savage by name, savage by nature! He has wanted Chloe as his, from their first meeting, but she chose Marcus, team captain of their Rugby team. Then there are her fiends. Evie and Drew. Love her friends!
Chloe had her perfect little world, yet things were changing. She knew, felt it, but couldn't work out what. Then Nick kissed her. One mind blowing kiss that changed everything. Through her guilt, she breaks up with Marcus, then found herself alone with the one man, who threw her world on its head and challenges her whole concept on what she really wanted, everything she had done to become who she was. And they were more alike than she thought possible. It is a wild ride of emotions, so hold onto the storm brewing. You will laugh, you will CRY and you will love them both as I do. I love the train wreck that Chloe is. Nick is to die for. Tough on the outside, and so mushy on the inside, especially for Chloe. Until she crossed the line and did the one thing he would never forgive.
One fabulous story now off to read Evie's story Wanting Mr. Wrong :)
Thank you Avril for the beautiful but walking disaster Chloe.

This is a very captivating read from the very beginning. Nick Savage is hot and naughty, but he loves Chloe, that's obvious. But...Chloe doesn't like him (or so she thinks)! This book hooks you in, keeps you reading, and is more than just a romance novel. When Nick and Chloe go to Manila to work with orphaned children...well, things get quite emotional and there is more to these characters than what is seen on the outside.
This is a quick, easy, and entertaining read perfect for anyone who loves romance. Would highly recommend it.

This is , I believe, the second book in this world. You can see my review of the first, Wanting Mr Wrong, over on Reading Lark. While the first book focused on Evie and Jack, this follows journalist Chloe, one of Evie's best friends, and Nick Savage, rugby player and best friend of Chloe's boyfriend Marcus. Chloe and Marcus have been together for a year, but their relationship isn't exactly passionate. She finds Nick infuriating and frustrating and downright dangerous, but still, there's something about him. Chloe isn't thrilled when a news story forces her to spend a week with Nick in the Philippines, but she can't deny her attraction to him. If she gives in to what she wants, then her carefully constructed sense of control might crumble, or she just might find Mr Right.

There were a couple of things I really liked about this book. I enjoyed the story as a whole of course, but the first thing I particularly liked was the way the author handled the issue of consent. It goes both ways in this novel. Nick requires Chloe to give explicit consent, and he gives it to her as well, telling her she can be as be as rough with him as she likes. Which brings me to the second thing I really liked. In so many romance novels, the physical relationship is driven by the male, but in this case, Chloe is the aggressor, for want of a better term. I found this really refreshing. The power dynamic is quite even.

The chemistry between Nick and Chloe is sizzling hot, and this is no slow burn. These characters give in to their desires quite early in the piece.

You don't need to have read Wanting Mr Wrong before Escaping Mr Right, but knowing who the characters are and the relationships between them does help.

I was really hoping for things to work out between Chloe and Nick, with their matching sets of baggage. It's not all light and fluffy, in fact there's very little light and fluffy, there are some big issues at play in the story, and they're handled really well.

Personally, I'm hoping Drew will get an outing in his own book soon!

Another book by the talented Ms. Tremayne that you find your emotions in every direction. She has a way of writing that pulls you in and you get so involved in the story that you find you go through all the emotions that the characters do. Chloe Masters is in love with Marcus, a top football player, and has been dating for a year and knows he is Mr. Right. However why then does Nick Savage his team mate make Chloe question her feelings. Things come to a head when Nick and Chloe supporting the football team do a story about an orphanage and it's then, in her mind that she starts question whether she thinks Mr. Right really is her Mr. Right . While these doubt start running though her mind the both of them start their rocky journey, where you are carried away on a wonderful wave of enjoyment. You will smile, laugh and I think fall in love with Nick a little also. This is another fantastic story by this author and you will fall in love with Chloe as she lets herself go and Nick who heats up the pages of this book. Two people who have no idea how hot their feelings really are. Wonderful book fantastic author and a story that will stay in your mind for a long time, making you smile

Note: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I must first tell you that I have not even finished this book yet (I'm 57% in) and I am awarding 'Escaping Mr. Right' FIVE big, bright, shiny stars! I LOVE this book and don't want it to end. The chemistry between Nick and Chloe is HOT HOT HOT and I don't think I could be more enamored with Nick if I tried. He is so wonderfully strong and sure and committed to Chloe, even when she doesn't want his attentions. SWOON! I cannot wait to see how their relationship unfolds but had to take a moment to write my review now to prove to future readers just how good this book is and how well this author weaves a tale of lust and romance. Well done Avril Tremayne! I look forward to reading everything this woman writes from now on!

"Escaping Mr. Right" by Avril Tremayne is a quick, wonderful read. Chloe Masters thinks she has Mr. Right with her boyfriend Marcus who is a football player. What happens is that Chloe seems to need more in her lovelife than Marcus seems to want to give her. In comes fellow football player Nick Savage who makes Chloe's emotions hum. When Chloe is sent to a Manila orphanage to do a TV report Marcus comes along to promote the game/team. They find that attractraction for each other is something that they can't fight. Chloe needs to let go and rethink her life. Going on this journey with her is very enjoyable.

This one had me from the first sentence

I wasn't too sure about buying this one. First person is difficult for an author to pull off, and a jock as the hero is not usually my choice of book. BUT, I have loved all of this author's books so far, so I took a chance. So glad I did! Avril did not let me down. From the first sentence, I was hooked. The characters and their chemistry and their internal struggles and motivations are so engrossing and FUN. This book has drama and comedy and everything you want in a romance. Like all of this author's stories, you'll be so glad you read it!

ESCAPING MR RIGHT by author Avril Tremayne is a January 2016 release by Randon House.
Chloe Masters believes her relationship with Marcus to be perfect. He is her Mr. Right after all, isn't he? Then why does all of a sudden she is not satisfied with things?

And Nick Savage keeps pushing all her buttons to make her face some life decisions. Dare she take the challenge? And they are together for a week!

ESCAPING MR RIGHT is full of witty banter and hot scenes. The chemistry between Nick and Chloe is off the charts. This is my first book by author Avril Tremayne but I was not disappointed. I loved her writing style.

Recommended for all readers of romance.

Chloe keeps her feelings and life in perfect check, as a result of a childhood where she felt unwanted. Her relationship with Marcus is perfect and easy, but his team mate Nick Savage is getting under her skin. Brought together on a trip to Manila, Chloe and Nick both have revelations about their feelings.

I really enjoyed this story about how your childhood influences your life and decisions. Both Chloe and Nick have a troubled past but will they let go to have a mate for life?

There were times I wanted to smash their heads together for being so stubborn. But the emotions also moved me, so I rated up to five stars.

This is classic Avril Tremayne. Great comedy, mixed with a lot of sass, and great romance. Nick Savage is not always an easy guy to like, but he is by far my favorite Avril Tremayne hero. He's sexy and fun and wittingly sexy. Ooh, the things he says! He also knows what he wants and pursues the heroine with such dedicated focus, you almost begin to wonder how much of an idiot Chloe could be for denying him so long. Highly recommend this one for those who want a quick, fun, romantic romp.

Amazing book to read, one which I couldn't put down. The sexual frustration between Nick and Chloe was intense from the very beginning. Both people who were never wanted as children find each other to love. This book was funny yet sexy and very steamy to read. Definitely would recommend this book.

After Bibi J (who is my book twin, I think) gave this such a glowing review, I decided to check it out --and while it started a smidge slow for me, very quickly I was hooked. This is about as perfect a romance novel as it gets: equal parts sexy, sweet and snarky. Five star read.
