First of all, thank you so much to C.K. Tomlin for trusting me to review her debut novel.
It was genuinely a pleasure to read and review Bluebird. 🖤
You had me at stalker dark comedy romance 🤭😂 I absolutely LOVE a dark comedy romance that can still be intense when it needs to be, but then breaks that intensity up with humour — and Bluebird definitely delivered that balance.
🖤 Meet Eleanor & Dylan
Eleanor — confident, fiercely independent and armed with enough sass to keep everyone on their toes. She has a sharp tongue, a wicked sense of humour and absolutely no intention of making things easy for anyone. I loved that she never lost that spark, even when things got intense.
Dylan — hot, broody, moody and ridiculously protective. 👀 He's the kind of man who would burn the entire world down for Elle in a heartbeat. Obsessive, intense and morally grey, Dylan is definitely not your conventional hero — but that protectiveness? Yeah… I couldn't get enough of it. 🖤🔥
🖤 Plot Summary
When a serious security breach throws Eleanor's carefully controlled world into chaos, she finds herself pulled into Dylan's orbit. As danger closes in, the lines between protection, obsession and something much deeper begin to blur — and Eleanor is about to discover that some things from the past have a way of finding you.
🖤 Tropes
• Dark romance
• Dark comedy
• Stalker romance
• Obsessive MMC
• Protective MMC
• Morally grey MMC
• Sassy & confident FMC
• Forced proximity
• Dual POV
• Hacker MMC
• Childhood connection
• Found family
This was such a fun, chaotic and spicy read, with plenty of darkness underneath it all. If you like your romance with obsession, danger, morally questionable men and a FMC who can absolutely give as good as she gets, add this one to your TBR. 👀🖤
And finally… I really hope a Tash and Andrew story is an idea currently being worked on because 👀 I NEED TO KNOW. 😂🖤
Thank you again, for trusting me with your debut. 🖤

What an absolute pleasure to read! I’ve read my fair share of dark romances, and this is one of my favorites! CK creates two beautifully damaged main characters who are actually perfect for each other. This book def doesn’t go where you think it will, but it’s all the better for it. It still hits all the good tropes and beats you expect from dark romance, but it still feels fresh and new.
Dylan, you total control freak. Who would have thought your stalker tendencies would have made you perfect for Elle in the long run?
Elle, you presented the front that you had your life sorted, when in reality you were barely keeping it together. I loved to see how she developed as the story went on. Her upbringing and how it weaves into the overall plot is unexpected but also works so well.
I dig the nerdy cybersec plot we have going on, which actually feels a bit more realistic than some dark romance plots. Who would have thought clicking on an email would have such crazy ramifications?
The spice is spicy. Dylan’s obsession starts young, but the CK handled the pacing of the history and sexy feelings super well and believably. By the time it all kicks off, you’ve been suitably edged and are rooting for Elle.
Honorable mention to Waffles, Tash, and Andrew, who are amazing side characters. I hope perhaps to see a spinoff 👀
10/10 would recommend!

Bluebird
By: C.K. Tomlin
🦋 Smart mouth FMC
🦋 Secretly Obsessed MMC
🦋 He falls first
🦋 Bad childhoods
🦋 Revenge
Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Characters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
“I could guard her life. I could redirect threats. I could dismantle dangers she never even knew existed. But speak to her? Hand her something? Let her look directly at me? That was out of the question.”
Loveeeee his shyness towards her in the beginning and only her. He will protect her with everything he has. Dylan is book boyfriend material 💅🏻 and he was my fav !
I didn’t love the FMC but I LOVEEEDDD the banter between them, I ate that up !! 🫦✨
I love the possible set up for book 2. Excited to maybe get more of Andrew’s story Hopefully !! I loved the character growth of each character and amazing amazing 🤩 plot. The book had a few flow issues at times but overall amazing story.
Thank you for letting me read your debut novel, i genuinely enjoyed this book and WILL be reading whatever is next 😚💕
