Okay… this book had me HOOKED. 🖤 The atmosphere, the mystery, the darker elements, and the whole academy setting made it so easy to get completely sucked into the story.

There’s something about being thrown into a world where nothing is quite what it seems, everyone has secrets, and you’re constantly wondering who you can actually trust. The tension kept me turning the pages, and I loved how the story slowly pulls you deeper into its world.

The characters, the danger, the secrets, and the overall dark vibe were EVERYTHING. It had that perfect “just one more chapter” feeling that somehow turns into reading way past when you should’ve gone to sleep. 😂

If you love dark academies, supernatural elements, secrets, dangerous characters, tension, and a story that keeps you guessing, definitely add this one to your TBR. 🩸🌑

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Definitely one of those books that leaves you staring at the last page like… “Okay, WHAT THE FUCK am I supposed to read now?” 😭🖤

I have lost all ability to be normal about this book.

Since reading and finishing The Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros, I've seen people say, "If you loved Fourth Wing, read this or that book." or "You NEED to read this after you finish the Fourth Wing series." Let me tell you something...

THIS. THIS is the book that needs to be at the top of every single one of those recommendation lists.

I've been chasing the feeling that Fourth Wing gave me for so long, and this is the first book that genuinely scratched that itch while still standing completely on its own. The academy setting? Incredible. The council and professors? Suspicious in all the best ways. The First Response Wing? Absolutely obsessed. Dax, Nyra, and Cassian? Every single one of them brought something to the story that made me even more invested.

But let's talk about what really consumed me:

Caelen.

I am so unapologetically in love with that man it's not even funny. Every time he appeared on the page, my attention was immediately stolen. Every interaction had me kicking my feet, screaming internally, and desperately needing more.

And then there's Eirea and Rhyven.

Legendary. LEGENDARY LOVERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Truly one of the most addictive couples I've read in a long time. The slow burn between them is absolute torture in the best possible way. Every glance, every interaction, every ounce of tension felt magnetic. I was hanging onto every word waiting for crumbs, and somehow those crumbs were enough to keep me completely feral. (Don't even get me started on the sparring)

This book had such a hold on me that I was waking up excited to read it, thinking about it throughout the day, and ending every night with "just one more chapter" that inevitably turned into five.

That's when I know a book has become an obsession instead of just a story.

It's been a long time since a book consumed me like this. The characters, the relationships, the mystery, the tension, the academy politics, the anticipation of what comes next... it all came together perfectly.

The Academy of Blood and Shadow wasn't just a good read. It was an experience.

And now I have the worst book hangover because all I can think about is what's going to happen next.

I need book two immediately. Not want.

Need.

Obsessed

Beautifully written. Could not put down. The world building is simply one of the bests that I have read in awhile.

Moving imitation

This is an interesting read. For fans of Fourth wing and conversational writing. The storyline is great, the 'just miss her already' anxiety is ridiculously frustrating. Will I read the next I e? Yes I will!
