Beast Blood

Rate this book
Long after the great Michigan fires of 1881 have become cold ash, Gabrio’s fated battle finally begins. Gabrio is a Beast Blood, transforming into a wolf by the light of the moon. He has found his life-mate, Esmeralda, and together they have discovered a measure of peace, a respite from the horrors of past. Living in modern-day Michigan, they hide their identities carefully from mortals and the dangers of half-breeds.

But Gabrio’s blood is bound to destiny. An ancient prophecy stirs the winds of fate around them, bringing signs of death and a blood moon. A Blood Taster, under oath to seek out the wicked in mortals, is now charged with doing the same among Beast Bloods—and in so doing uncovers a truer sin that walks the earth, longing to take revenge against the punishment of God and using Gabrio and Esmeralda to do so. As the couple is drawn into a war between the angelic warriors of heaven and the demons of hell, they soon realize that they are destined to play a major role in the outcome of the conflict—and that the prophecy heralds the coming of the ultimate power, known as the Hybrid.

From the woods of Michigan to the emerald-green highlands of Scotland, this second volume of the Beast Blood series follows two supernatural creatures as they stand witness to an apocalyptic battle between good and evil.

“Look toward the sky and behold the red moon…take notice an army of beasts guarding the newborn who will be one with the guardian in Heaven & Earth.”
I absolutely loved this book! It drew me in from the first page. It begins in 1515, Scotland, as you follow a woman, Alexandria, as she escapes the wrath of her husband through a dark tunnel. Then you’re thrown to present day Michigan where you meet Esmeralda and Gabrio…a nice, loving couple. You soon find out that they are alpha werewolves, or…Beast Bloods. I couldn’t put the book down as I was thrown into a story filled with werewolves, covens, blood tasters, and an ancient prophecy about a blood moon, and a newborn hybrid that’s about to change everyone’s life forever. And then there’s Laycerath…his name alone, drips evil.
This book is such a great read, the author does a wonderful job in depicting the characters, so much so, that you immediately find your connection to them. Esmeralda and Gabrio’s bond is so great that you are continuously rooting for these two characters to overcome their circumstances. The blood tasters depict darkness, and are so complex that you can’t help, but appreciate their characters. I definitely recommend this book whether you are a paranormal fan or not. A wonderful read!

Being the author to this book, my rating comes from a biased position. However, I'll give my review in an interview-like format for this epic, paranormal horror, Beast Blood. Even though it's the second in the series, this was my first book ever written. I wanted readers to fall in love with the heart of the series, and since this was my first time being in the literary waters, I would start with my first book.
In this climax building, the past comes back to haunt the present, thriller you'll meet (or become re-introduced) to the four main characters all of whom had become debuted in the first book, Flames to the Beast. In this story, the lines of friend and foe are even more blurred as the story develops further, revealing more dark well-kept secrets that Sheryl had harbored for ages. All of which comes into light when Esmerelda, a strong-willed woman, becomes kidnapped. A story filled of love, betrayal, murder, passion, violence, intense and a action-packed battle of the holy versus the corrupt, makes Beast Blood a edgy page turner. I hope you find Beast Blood a perfect addition to this growing series. Also, Conloach is my favorite character in this one. You'll understand why when you read, Beast Blood.

This book might not have been my most preferred genre, but it was a very entertaining read. The beginning had me hooked, and the author is so good at describing the setting and her characters feelings, I couldn't help but feel what they felt. Without giving too much away, right at the beginning, there is someone searching for his wife - he's angry, and he seems important. His wife is meanwhile escaping through a claustrophobic tunnel. This made me quite spooked, and I wanted to find out if she escaped! Then we meet two other characters, who start moving the story along, and we soon learn that this is a story of 'beast bloods', or werewolves.

Whilst novels of werewolves might be overdone - it is a shame that people can't seem to write vampire/werewolf stories without being compared to Twilight - this book didn't feel over done. There was a flair of originality to it, and the characters were so well developed you actually felt for them, which is sometimes missed in stories like this.

I'm a fan of this author, and I'm looking forward to M.A. Levi's works in the future. I'll be following!

This is second M.A. Levi book I've read, and I'm lovin' 'em!! The first book I read was "Flames To The Beast". This second book is called "Beast Blood Volume Two: Truer Sin". Although the second book was written first, for some reason I was lucky, and I read them in chronological order. I would recommend doing the same.

M. A. Levi depicts a beautiful world of fantasy and werewolves and covens and prophecies and newborn hybrids. M.A.'s imagination is limitless, and this novel shows off her many talents. Her writing skills deliciously create a previously unknown fantasy world and captivate my full attention. The rich detail explores M.A.'s imagination and communicates loads of interest to the reader.

Although this book's genre is Paranormal Fantasy, the writing is so good and so captivating, that readers of other genres will find it to be an interesting and captivating read. I'm a huge fan of M.A. Levi and I'm looking forward to reading the third book in this series.

Truer Sin was another gripping tale of Beast Bloods, Blood Tasters, demons and angels. A twist that propels Adam and Eve to a place I never imagined.
From the beginning, I was pulled into Gab and Esse's life. There were parts that made me smile, laugh and I couldn't help but be drawn in when they fell into each others arms. I was curious of the role Sheryl played since she was from the first book and seemed as if she was a loving mother figure to Gab. With that being said, I was with what happened, sending me on a roller coaster ride with each chapter I read.
M.A. Levi gave enough info to keep you interested, wanting more. A spec of detail that made your mind build what was happening and when the story actually revealed itself, I was bombarded with an avalanche of reality. At the end, my mouth hung open.
I can honestly say book 2, Truer Sin, was my favorite of Beast Blood's so far. There was a perfect ending, satisfying me. When I read the epilogue, hello book 3.

Werewolves, vampires, angels and demons fill the pages of Beast Blood, all of which I'm a fan of but sadly I had trouble reading this book. The central story took a while to get into motion. Without spoiling the plot, the meat of Esmeralda's dilemma didn't really come into play until two-thirds of the way into the story. And as a werewolf fan I hoped for more tooth and claw action but that waited to nearly the end. I will say that I haven't read the first part of the series. Not sure if there were other details I should have known about prior to reading Beast Blood but I wasn't confused or lost because of it.

For those who enjoy epic tales and love-conquers-all stories give this one a try.

I have read other books by this author as I particular like her style of writing. She brings out the dark intrigue of urban fantasy books. The book starts in Scotland (I live in the Scottish Borders) which is what draw me in to the story straight away. Gabrio and Essie have a nice relationship, both of them bouncing off one another nicely. They are a good match for one another. My only criticism is the book was slightly too long. Otherwise a good read, well worth a look.

This isn't my genre, but I have to say, it was a pretty entertaining and unpredictable story. Lots of sex, violence, language--all that good stuff. It was also cool to read a story set (mostly) near where I live in Michigan.

Check it out, especially if you're into the werewolf/fantasy, it's a fun read and as good as anything I've read from that genre.
