Lady Lara is out on her own, traveling the universe without family at her back for the first time. To say she is a little out of her depth would be an understatement, but she is determined to continue her adventuring through the stars armed with nothing but her naive Heti nature and empathic abilities to guide her. Barnos is a notorious space pirate whose driving passion at the moment is to find and finally kill the man who took his arm and eye and left him for dead. With cybernetic implants making him even harder to kill, he will face any obstacle to have his justice, even if the partner he has chosen is a Shakien mercenary who nobody trusts.
Finding a missing Heti Lady is a side mission, a favor that should have been quickly done and forgotten. Instead, Barnos ends up on a journey through slave markets, space battles and fighting for his life in The Death Games, all with a new partner, a lady who stirs his blood and could not possibly be as sweet as she tastes...Not if she hopes to survive.
Kelly Lucille is the author of paranormal and fantasy romance. She has a B.A. Degree in Creative Writing and Literature from Naropa University. Her first book "Keeping Her" published in July of 2013.
On a more personal note- I read my first romance novel: "Shanna" by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss when I was 13 years old. I still read it every year or so just to remember how amazing a really good romance novel can make you feel.

Fun characters with humorous dialogue that made me laugh and adventures around the galaxy. There are some serious situations with the threat of death/rape but the characters' personalities shine through. Of course they have their faults, but don't try to hide it from each other.
There is some set up for a character we met earlier in the series and I can't wait for the next book!
This third book in the series can be read as a standalone but you will get more out of it if you’ve read the previous two books, as a lot of world-building gets done in the earlier books. We also meet both characters in previous books.
Lara is the daughter of the Heti Ambassador to the Alliance. His job is very important and as a result, she is also pretty important. She’s also an incurably curious adventurer. She’s gifted at picking up languages, has an incredible memory for information about the various races she’s heard about or met over the years and she’s got this nifty talent that projects serenity to those around her. This all makes her the perfect person to meet new people, something she loves doing. All of this also makes her incredibly sensitive to other people’s feelings.
Barnos is a pirate. He lies, cheat and steals and is unashamed about it. However, he doesn’t harm the innocent, hurt women and children, or take part in the slave trade. He’s on a mission with Tolan to find the Death Games, which are exactly what they sound like, so they can shut them down. When Lara is kidnapped her father and adopted sister approach Tolan and Barnos to try and get them to rescue her.
One thing I really enjoyed about this book is that Lara isn’t physically brave. She’s not a fighter even though she knows how to use a gun and dish out some self-defence moves. She is, however, incredibly bright and charming. Her utter faith in other beings being reasonable if she can just understand their point of view is quite endearing, if a bit reckless. Up until recently, she has always had her adopted sister to help keep her safe but now she’s without that kind of personal attention to her safety.
When Lara and Barnos meet, sparks fly because they are both very attracted to the other, however, they also irritate each other a great deal. Barnos is the opposite of Lara, he is roughly spoken and as blunt as a rock. He is very physical and laughs in the face of imminent death.
I really liked how there wasn’t insta-love between these two characters and that their feelings towards each changed slowly through the book as they each started to show more and more of their personality to the other.
I really enjoyed that this was a bit different from the rest of the series, with the physically awkward and sweet Lara. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
Boy when Lara gets in trouble she goes all out. Kidnapped, sold as a slave and who is sent to rescue her but the Captain Pirate Conall Barnos and Tolan Lark. Both disreputable, one a cyborg human, one a Shakien shifter. But when the rescue Lara and get an opportunity to take down the Death Games they head for it. Loving this series. Love Lara and her ability to smooth the savage beasts.
Lara has an adventurous spirit . Danger and mishap just seem to find her. I love this character, she is sweet, and fun loving, with a kindness we all should have . Barnes and Tolan are sent to find the missing Lara. That's when the real adventure begins.
I thoroughly enjoyed Lara as a wonderful brilliant compassionate character who meets her match in a roguish pirate. He is more than he seems but so is Lara.
I love this series!! And Finding Lara was a great read and deserves the 5 star rating given. The only thing I had a problem with was the heroine, was not a fighter like the 2 heroine were in the previous books. I always thought that the next book would be of Barnos meeting his match in someone just like him. But instead you get a soft, no swearing, non violent woman against a man who is all of that and more. But it was a great read and recommend to all. I soooo can't wait for Tolan and Jax's book, now there is a woman who can hold her own against a Shakien Cat Warrior lol.
4 1/2 stars. Not a very long book, but a very exciting story, with tons of action--and I still got a good sense of the romance--yay! I really liked the characters. The h was very sweet and caring, but with a subtle, but very impressive strength. The H was arrogant and alpha, but very possessive of the h. I also liked them together as a couple, and enjoyed their relationship building. Characters from previous books make an appearance, but I think this can definitely be read as a stand alone.
Loved this!! It finally made the link between the first and the second book which I was grateful for.
Lara and Barnos were hilarious. Both pretty eccentric in their own way, they have a big heart and despite being on different side of the law, they are very similar. I loved the action, the suspens and the never ending challenges. The new alien worlds and species were very interesting to read about.
I definitely can't wait for Tolan and Jax' story this is going to be another explosive couple.
I have really enjoyed this series. I love having past characters show up for a check in on how they are now. There are occasional spelling errors for the truly finicky, but the way the story draws you had me reading till I was done. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Finding Lara (Distant Worlds Book 3) By KELLY LUCILLE
Kelly Lucille just has a wonderful creative mind and it delightfully funny dialogues with endearing characters that you will fall in love with!! This whole series is another example of her wonderful writing. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE IN THIS SERIES!! I'm SO RECOMMENDING THAT YOU PICK UP !!!
I like this. The third in Lucille's Distant World's saga, her heroes are manly but self aware enough to avoid being insufferable. I like her world building and plot pacing. ln all it's a read that would be a bit better if someone would edit it with more attention. It seems disrespectful to the reader to be sloppy.
I have loved Kelly's other series and this one is the same. Fun story and a great lady in distress who still manages to surprise her pirate hero! Looking forward to the next one, keep up the good writing Kelly!
