This book was amazing. It's not my usual genre, but I was surprised to find myself totally immersed in this book. The characters are well developed and the story line is fascinating. Lord Ashur saves the world from an asteroid that is about to hit earth and cause major devastation. He then becomes Lord of nearly the entire world, ruling with an iron fist and destroying all who show even the slightest hint of disobedience. One of his top scientists initially refuses to comply and Ashur has his wife killed. The scientist, with the help of his friend, sends his teenage children into hiding with an old friend's family. The story goes back and forth between the military/police dominance, the family and their attempt to stay off Lord Ashur's radar, and Lord Ashur/the scientific headquarters to develop the full picture of what is going on. It's very suspenseful and intriguing. I was hooked from the first few chapters.
