I loved New England Clambake Murder by Summer Prescott. I live in New England and the author's descriptions of the food and scenery were spot on.

The main character is a caterer who has a dead body appear at a catering event. She had started her life over and is now divorced yet she is starting to question things bout her ex husband and she uncovers things that puts a target on her back.

This is a well written cozy mystery with great characters and a multi-layered mystery. I can't wait to try the author's recipe for clam chowder.

Looking forward to the next book in this series.

This was so short and would have seriously benefited from some more pages. The characters were under-developed, I'm not even sure what they look like. Seriously I can't remember any physical descriptions. The mystery wrapped up way too fast, we don't even get to see the chain of evidence that leads to the culprit. ****Spoiler**** And we only meet the culprit once. Also the heroine doesn't do anything to solve the murder. It seems like in a cozy mystery, the main character should do something to solve the murder. This had good bones and could have been quite nice if it had been more developed. As is, it seems more like an outline of what could be a very nice story. The second book was free at the time I bought the first, so I'm going to give it a try and hope there is more development.

I can't believe I missed reading this book when it first came out. A caterer that specializes in New England style seafood events is the basic underpinning for the series. There seem to be two main characters for this series, Becca the owner of the catering business and her BFF/assistant. The rest of the book is peopled by an eclectic assortment of supporting characters.

As if it's not hard enough to keep a catering gig running smoothly, Becca has to deal with her ex-husbands new wife at her most recent event. When that same woman is found dead in her bed the next morning, Becca has to deal with her needy ex and the police. She decides that the only way to get some peace is to figure out who the killer is.

Summer has hit it out of the park again with this series!

In this first book, Becca Rogers has finally gotten divorced and has now started her new business. It is going great and they are always busy. They cater a high society party that is attended by the new wife of her ex husband. Her escort is a charming and handsome fellow who is flirting with Becca. Unfortunately the next day the new wife is found dead in her bed and Becca seems to be the prime suspect. She is doing everything she can to get the murder solved before her catering business goes under.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Great book!!

Becca has a important Gala to work with her best friend Katie. Then her past come back with a dangerous twist she got caught up in and it was too late to get out of.
Detectives Lance Reynolds and Chester Gramble have a mess to untangle with Becca in the middle as a innocent bystander.
Luckily she got some very good evidence and took it the police that cracked the case, but not before it was too late for Becca.
Katie knew something was wrong and called Reynolds.
Now you have to read to fill in the many details.

Excellent Short Cozy Mystery
Newly-divorced caterer, Becca Rogers, has her hands full, when she is hired to cater a highbrow event for one of the pillars of local society. Feeling like a fish out of water, Becca attends the event to personally supervise the catering, and comes face to face with a bit of her past that she’d just as soon forget.
This is an excellent cozy mystery. It is full of angst and suspension. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.

As she uncovers the truth, she becomes a target as she must figure out the murder before she becomes the next victim.

Set in New England, you will be craving fresh seafood on a packed beach in the summertime. A cool read.

This was a great start for a new series! This author can really pack a lot into a very short book and not make it seem like you didn't get enough info or missed something. There was a lot happening, and I was genuinely surprised at the reveal--good twist!

I really liked Becca's character and her sweet kitty as well as Katie, her bestie and manager for her biz. I'm anxious to borrow the next book in KU and see what adventures wait for them.

Cute story. Unfortunately, there are only two books in this series. And like most, if not all, the books in Prescott’s many series’, there is a recipe after the great ending. This book’s recipe is Creamy Dreamy New England Clam Chowder.

My hope for Becca is that she and Detective Reynolds end up together. I like a tad bit of romance in my cozy mysteries!

Next and last is Book 2 “Clamshells and Murder”.
See ya in my next review.

Left a little too much for readers to fill into the story.

I felt that the story was basically incomplete. Also her reference to the Coast Guards actions was slightly inaccurate. Not likely they would allow a civilian aboard their boat when on a case.

Overall I enjoyed the story and would have given it a higher rating if the main character hadn’t acted so stupidly. That’s one of my pet peeves in cozy mysteries.

Becca Rogers is working with her catering business at fancy parties for the rich and famous when she ends up bumping into her ex-husband Simon's new wife Lacey. After an angry confrontation with Lacey, Becca goes home unable to accept how she let the woman get to her. Of course the next day Becca learns that Lacey is dead. Who killed Lacey and why?

Someone seems to be pointing the guilty finger at Becca no matter what she does. If she can't figure it out will she be the one in the orange jumpsuit?

I enjoyed this cute little novella and hope to read more from Ms. Prescott. She has a definite style with her story telling. Can't wait to see what is next for Becca and her friends.

Great quick read with an unexpected twist at the end. Any book with cooking and mystery is great in my book. Synopsis: Becca is a divorcee who runs her own catering business to the New England upper class. She agrees to cater an event, knowing full well she may run into her ex-husband's new socialite arm candy. What happens after that is where the mystery kicks off and I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone. Enjoy this mystery full of thrown martinis, good food and a great story.

I have enjoyed this little mystery. The main character is a self-made caterer who has survived a disastrous marriage only to find herself accused of having murdered her ex-husband's new wife. The story revolves around her trying to solve the murder, clear her name, and keep her business running smoothly. A good little mystery and the start of a great new series!

New England clam murder

This is more of a novella than a full fledged book.
But it also gives the reader the background of the main characters.
Becca Rogers is a caterer in Rocky Cove along with her best friend Katie.
Becca's ex husband,Simon wife is found murdered the night after a party that Becca had catered.
There buy hangs the thread of the novella.

Good and fast read

Cute fast read

Just finished this book. It was a super fast read and it was a cute story. It twisted around enough that I was not sure who the murderer was. If you like cozy mysteries you should like this one.

A little late

Here I was thinking that I had read everything summer Prescott has written and look what I find. I love this book, I found myself relating to the characters and enjoyed this from page 1. Definitely sorry I missed out but I will be catching up. Happy reading

I'm sorry, I found this novella to be too predictable. I have downloaded #2 to see if it improves for me. I was surprised but shouldn't have been by the planner of the murder. That's why I give second chances.
