Beneath the Quiet Sky

Rate this book
Erin never thought she’d see Tristan Balfe again, so it’s no surprise that he doesn’t remember her. After their brief friendship when she was a struggling, homeless teenager, she left town with no plans to return.

Fast forward nineteen years and she’s the manager of her uncle’s hotel, the Astor Cove. It’s an old but much beloved establishment in dire need of some TLC. Tristan, now one of the most successful hoteliers in the country, has set his sights on the historic building and is keen to turn it into an exclusive location for his wealthy clientele.

Erin doesn’t want things at the Astor Cove to change and she tries to convince her uncle not to sell, but he’s seduced by the idea of a luxury retirement and Tristan’s persistence wins out. The only silver lining? Erin and some of the other legacy staff will get to keep their jobs under the new ownership.

So now she must work alongside Tristan while they transform her beloved place of work into something shiny and new, and Erin learns that Tristan can be just as persistent a flirt as he is a businessman. He’s determined that they’ve met before even though he can’t remember when or how, but Erin has no interest in revisiting her painful past and insists they’re strangers. The problem? Tristan’s irresistible charm and playful personality awakens something in Erin, something she’d promised herself long ago was dead.

Erin is powerless to prevent being swept into Tristan’s orbit, but she fears that when he finally remembers who she is—and how she heartlessly abandoned him all those years ago—he’ll no longer want her at all.

Beneath the Quiet Sky is book #5 in The Quiet Love Series and can be read as a standalone.

Includes prequel novella, A Quiet Promise.

Favorite Quotes:

I was mad at myself for thinking the last month away from him was actually the end of it. Cockroaches always had a way of surviving.

I hadn’t felt this safe with anyone since my dad had passed. Tristan had become a haven for me. I never realised a person could be that because I’d always considered havens to be physical places. But they weren’t. Whenever he was around, I felt like there was an invisible umbrella above my head, keeping out any rain that might fall.

There were galaxies within her irises, and I was lost in exploration.

My Review:

I have reveled in each installment of this heartfelt series, and this one may just be my favorite. Ms Cosway’s writing is always emotive and descriptive from top to bottom as well as in emotional tone, easy to fall into, and populated with knowable and realistic characters who are likable, flawed, and authentically rendered. I adored Tristan and would want to spend time with him in the real world. I am already looking forward to future installments and hoping for more of the same.

Overall, Beneath the Quiet Sky is a sweet, slow-burn, second-chance romance about finding your way back to someone you thought you had lost. Tristan and Erin first knew each other as teenagers, during a difficult time in Erin’s life. She had just lost her father, and her older sister, Sloanne, was in an abusive relationship. Erin found refuge in a hotel owned by Tristan’s family, but when she left with her sister to escape their circumstances, she left everything behind—including Tristan.

Years later, their paths cross again when Tristan and his brother attend a wedding at the hotel where Erin works for her uncle and decide to buy the property. Erin recognizes Tristan immediately. Although he doesn’t recognize her at first, he senses that they have met before. One of my favorite parts of the story is watching them work together to improve the hotel while gradually rebuilding their connection. Erin’s difficult experiences in a previous relationship leave her hesitant to open her heart again. Once Tristan realizes who she is, he wants to pursue a relationship, but she isn’t sure she’s ready.

I especially appreciated that their relationship develops without pressure and that working together plays such an important role in their story. The gradual rebuilding of their bond makes this an enjoyable second-chance romance. Overall, this was a solid four-star read for me, and I’d recommend it to readers who enjoy a sweet romance that takes its time.

Second chance love with wonderful characters that you just can’t help but love and cheer for. I caught myself several times actually clapping for the little happy moments. I love a book that leaves you feeling good !
Tristan and Erin have a history, see remembers him but he doesn’t remember her. It was a very painful time for her, and she’s not volunteering any information that might cause him to remember. Her life has changed, her looks have changed and she is determined to stay away from men. Unfortunately for her (she thinks), he’s in her life, one way or the other, her stale safe life has been upended a bit. His family business has bought her family’s business and retained her to help run it. Yep, it’s like that, can’t run away, have to work through it. And so it begins....
Oh it’s a slow sweet smokin’ tale.
I had so many favorite quotes from this book. LH Cosway is an emotional relationship support writer and she really nails some key points. You’ll see

Beneath The Quiet Sky is the fifth book in LH Cosway's Quiet Love series. I love this whole world, but this one may just be my favorite! I love the author's writing and storytelling, and I feel like this story could be a movie. I also loved that the prequel is included in this book, which takes place when Erin and Tristan first meet, which is their senior year of high school. It really helped me feel their connection, even though it's twenty years later. I fell hard for Tristan! He was the perfect book boyfriend! This whole series is definitely going on my re-read list! Highly recommended with way more than five stars!

Thank you to the author and Grey’s Promo for the gifted copy. I found the author through a rugby collab she did with Penny Reid and I think I’ve read everything since then!
This was a good twist on second chances.

Second-chance romances are definitely my jam, and when it comes to this trope, no one nails it quite like L.H. Cosway. Her stories are so real and emotional that you feel them in your heart, and Erin and Tristan’s journey is a perfect example.

Erin first met Tristan in the lowest time of her life. She was homeless due to her sister’s lecherous, abusive boyfriend and her sister’s ignorance until she found a private refuge in the local hotel owned by Tristan Balfe’s family. Tristan is the popular kid in her class and way out of her league. When he finds her squatting in the hotel, he keeps her secret and becomes her friend and confidant until she is discovered and flees town.

Twenty years later, Erin is moving on with her life after a past relationship that really messed her up mentally. She loves her job as manager at her uncle’s hotel, clinging to her self-imposed celibacy to stay in control and keep herself happy. But Tristan comes back into her life to take over her livelihood and change the place she calls home. The real bombshell is that he doesn’t know who she is at first, and I was surprised that he didn’t recognize her by her eyes alone, which are an unusual amber color he always commented on when they were kids. That said, I valued Erin’s character because she could admit her mistakes. I understood her anger and frustration at losing her inheritance, letting her friends go, and being trained by a younger woman. Still, I also admired her resilience and her awareness that her aunt and uncle deserved a comfortable life after working so hard to run the hotel.

Tristan is charming and thoughtful, promising Erin he will preserve the heritage and charm of her uncle’s hotel, and he does. Good grief, this man. He has an incredible kindness that comes naturally. His patience and respect for Erin are beyond compare. He is honest and exactly who he seems. And the way he connects with Erin again, listening to her as an employee and as a woman, and spoiling her with meaningful gifts and tender compliments, is beautiful and heartfelt.

This love story is a slow burn that is well worth the wait. Erin and Tristan are both so lonely and deserve a happy ending. They spent years building their careers, and I found it refreshing how mature and honest they were about their feelings.

I’m a big fan of L.H. Cosway because her characters and plots are so charming, engrossing, and emotionally draining, but in a good way. I highly recommend this book, and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you to Ms. Cosway for giving me the opportunity to review this book with no expectation of a positive review.

What a sweet love story with an added sprinkling of family drama. When Erin and her older sister Sloane flee Dublin to to get away from Sloane’s sleazy drug dealer of a boyfriend they move to a wealthy coastal town for a fresh start. When her boyfriend eventually tracks them down things take a turn for the worst for Erin and she has no choice but to move out. Whilst camping out in a local hotel attic room Erin meets Tristan Balfe, one of the most popular students in her school and the son of the hotel owner, and herein starts a wonderful friendship which has the real possibility to turn into something more. But before they can become more, the sisters have to cut and run again, this time to stay with their Aunty and Uncle in their hotel on the coast, it’s here that they make a wonderful life for themselves. Twenty years later, Tristan Balfe enters her life again and within weeks their relationship looks like it’s going to become more, until Erin drops a whopper of a revelation on Tristan - I was not expecting that. Tristan though is as perfect as ever, I loved how he handled it, and how he handled the relationship with Erin. Never pushing, but always being there supporting and helping her. A truly enjoyable story that had me engrossed throughout. A second chance romance with a wonderful group of characters, all looking out for each other in the only way they know how. A slow burn romance that had me rooting for these two wonderful souls, two people who were meant to be together. I loved it. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Yet another wonderfully simple yet extremely insightful story from Ms Cosway.
I really love her writing because her characters are so familiar, they’re in real life situations with relatable problems.

We first meet Erin and Tristan as teenagers. Erin’s in a tricky home situation and Tristan takes her under his wing.
Years later they once again come into each others orbits but this time Erin keeps her identity to herself. Tristan senses something about this amazing woman but just can’t put his mind to the place where the familiarity stems from.

I love Erin, she’s kind and caring. Her life experiences have made her extremely cautious in both love and friendship. I totally got the whole giver/taker situation and I admired her ability to live for herself. The author has done a great job of showing independence as a good, strong thing.

But, after nearly twenty years the attraction is still there… can Erin continue to fight it or will she allow herself the chance to just go for it.
If she’s going to let anyone in again I think Tristan Balfe is the best person for her. He’s intuitive, caring and fun-loving which is exactly what Erin needs. She craves someone to care for her and just love her wholly and completely. Which is also something Tristan has been lacking in his life, that feeling of unconditional love. He has so much love to give and Erin is the very lucky girl on the receiving end!

Nuala next and I can’t wait for her Rivals to lovers storyline…

One of the things I love about Cosway’s writing is that every book is different. I’ve never read a book by her that reminded me of another. Her stories will captivate you, and you’ll be introduced to characters that will live rent free for days!

I loved how this story was broken into two parts. We see Erin and Tristan as teenagers in the first part, and then we flash forward 20 years and see a whole new version of them. We see some of the pain they’ve gone through and the life lessons that shaped how they view relationships.

Tristan was amazing, just like most of Cosway’s men. At first, I was hesitant because Boss Tristian is a bit of a jerk. HOWEVER…once he opened up I loved him. He’s such a giver! Super spicy books are always the bomb, but sometimes a sweet romance with a hint of vanilla is what you need. I need a Tristian.

Erin was such a strong character. She has her childhood trauma to accompany an ex who was a receiver. He never wanted to give, so I’m happy she finally found Tristian. I did want to know a tad more about her dad and Zach, but I don’t think we actually needed it.

Overall, I’m loving this series. I can’t wait to see Tristian’s twin find love in the next book!

✨ ARC Review ✨

I really couldn’t stop reading once I picked up this story! Like, OMG, it was such a romantic story! It’s SO well-written! 🥹🤍

It’s kinda like a childhood friends-to-lovers, second-chance romance, where they reunite years later, except the MMC doesn’t remember the FMC due to certain circumstances. They lose touch, only to somehow find each other again years later. We call it… fate, right? 🥹

Now, talking about their romance, when Tristan finally realizes who Erin is, everything he does after that… OMGGGG! 😭🤍 The way he keeps pursuing her through heartfelt conversations and listens so attentively to her reasons just makes my heart MELT!

Ohmygossshhh, God, please give every girl in the world a man like him. Amen! 🙏🏻😭

I love how patient Tristan is and how he keeps helping Erin believe in love and relationships again without making her feel scared. The way he gives her the time and reassurance she needs… :,) 😭🤍 LOVE WINS ALL IN THE END!

Such a beautiful love story to read! 🥹🤍 I can’t wait for Nuala’s story!!!

Thank you for the ARC, L.H. Cosway & Grey Promotions!! 💛

Beneath the Quiet Sky is Tristan Balfe and Erin’s second chance, slow burn romance. It’s book five in The Quiet Love Series and it was a heartwarming and captivating read.
Erin met Tristan when she was a homeless teenager and they became friends but she left town with no intention of returning. Fast forward to today and she is now the manager of her uncles hotel, the Astor Cove and Tristan is one of the most successful hoteliers in the country and he has his sight set on the Astor Cove. The sale has Erin working along side Tristan but as much as he flirts with her he can’t remember the friendship they shared over nineteen years ago. So what happens when he realises Erin broke his heart all those years ago.
It didn’t take me long to become invested in this couple and their story. I was drawn in from the first chapter and I found myself smiling and I swooned as I cheered this couple on.

I loved Tristan and Erin! I have read other novels by this author and really enjoyed them. This novel did not disappoint. I was so excited to jump into this novel and it did not let me down. I love a great slow burn and a second chance romance. This novel checked so many boxes for me. From the first chapter this novel reached across the pages and grabbed my attention and held on tight until the very last page. Even then I didn't want this novel to end. I loved Tristan and Erin. Their chemistry was so good! I loved watching their walls and defenses come down and open their hearts up to each other and fall in love. Once I started reading I couldn't put this novel down. Even if it meant staying up most of the night to finish, so worth losing sleep over. I can hardly wait to see what this author has coming next. So so good! Loved it!

Beneath the Quiet Sky was my first L.H. Cosway, and it won me over. I’m a sucker for a second-chance romance, but this one gets its power from how little time Erin and Tristan actually had. As teens, he helped her when she needed it, and then she vanished. Nearly twenty years later, even though he doesn’t recognise her at first, that spark is still there. It made me believe some connections just stick with you.
The hotel setting, with him as one of the owners and her as the manager, gives them a believable reason to keep crossing paths. Having it set in Ireland, a place close to my heart, made it hit even harder. The hotel staff heading to the pub for a few drinks made me grin 😆. It’s those small, familiar touches that make the world feel real.
If you like romances where the past won’t stay buried, read this one. I’m heading straight for Cosway’s backlist.

Beneath the Quiet Sky is a sweet, emotional second-chance romance between Erin and Tristan. Erin is running her uncle's hotel, and Tristan and his brother attend a wedding there, then decide they want to purchase the property and renovate it. Erin's uncle agrees, as long as the staff can stay on during the transition. Erin recognizes Tristan - they knew each other 20 years ago when she was a teen and going through a very rough time in her life - but he doesn't seem to recognize her. They are forced to work together at the hotel, and their connection begins to grow, but Erin worries that when Tristan realizes who she really is, and that she abandoned him without a word, it will destroy everything they've built. If you love a romantic, slow burn story, this is it!

4.5….A sweet read with an emotional story being told. Tristan And Erin meet when they were younger. He helped her with a difficult situation. They got close…then she moved away. Erin’s life was not easy then her aunt and uncle gave her stability a place to feel safe…a place to work. Now the boutique hotel that has meant the world to her is being sold. Is her manager position in jeopardy?!? What will she do?!? This is more than money for her…this hotel is where she found peace. Then come Tristan with his partner/brother they are buying the hotel. At first he doesn’t recognize Erin…it’s been many years. He might not know who she is but he definitely feels a connection…once everything clicks…it’s game on. This well layered read definitely took us on a beautiful journey. A journey that had a few turns and obstacles but ended up in a beautifully perfect place. This was a slow burn that was definitely worth the read. This author never disappoints when it comes to bringing the drama.

Erin and Tristan are a second chance romance many years later. They met in high school and he left a memorable impact on her and then she left town. She’s managing the hotel in town and he’s back to make the hotel into something more. You get to read their history and you also get to see what happens in the present. Erin has a difficult past that has impacted her life and Tristan is determined to win her over both professionally and personally. Their romance is sweet as they reconnect and find that the sparks from before are still there.

Yet again Cosway delivers a gripping story with a great set of characters.

Erin and Tristan fell for each other as teenagers but are torn apart by circumstance. When they meet again almost 20 years later - and Tristan doesn't quite remember Erin - it's beautiful to watch them find their way to each other all over again.

This was so so good. Loved the reconnecting after almost 20 years. I really loved Erin's character. She was so relatable to me. I think every woman can relate to a degree to conforming to their significant other's wants and needs, and kind of losing yourself in the process. Tristan was the perfect match to make her feel her self worth again. Loved it!

I think I was in love with this book from the moment I opened it!

Beneath the Quiet Sky is a second chance romance built on an unexpected friendship that began when Tristan and Erin were teenagers. Two very different people from very different worlds who somehow found a connection, became the best of friends and eventually something more. Until Erin disappeared from his life.

Almost two decades later, they find each other again. Except Tristan doesn't recognize her, and Erin is so shocked to see him that she doesn't tell him who she is.

As a teenager, Erin hid herself beneath baggy clothes, piercings and dyed black hair, trying to escape the pressures of her family situation. Now she's older, free from those expectations and living her life out in the open, managing a family-owned hotel that she loves more than anything.

Time may have softened the memories they had of each other, but it certainly didn't erase them.

When Tristan meets Erin again, there's something familiar about her that he just can't place. And I loved how this story unfolded!

We get those early glimpses into the friendship they built as teenagers before spending most of the story with them later in life. And while Tristan feels an immediate attraction to Erin without knowing who she is, for Erin, there's so much more beneath the surface. All those old feelings and memories of a friendship that meant everything to her.

So they begin a new friendship, one that's just as beautiful as the original, but at a completely different time in their lives. And maybe that connection comes so naturally because something between them was never really lost.

I loved both characters, but I especially loved how down to earth Tristan was and how willing he was to embrace his feelings for Erin, even without knowing their history. He wanted to show her, not just tell her, how much she was beginning to mean to him, and I absolutely loved that about him.

And when he finally realizes who she is? All those feelings from their past come rushing back, mixed with everything he's feeling for her now. I loved seeing how their history and their present came together.

Even though Erin recognized Tristan immediately, letting him back into her life wasn't quite so simple. She's built a life she loves, and now he's essentially her boss after buying the family hotel. There's so much for her to work through before she can fully open herself up to him again.

But the slow burn! The angst! The way their friendship and attraction build, both in the past and in the present. I loved every moment of it.

This is only my second book by L.H. Cosway, but she's quickly becoming an author whose entire backlist I need to read!

If you love second chance romance, friends to lovers, slow burn and all that delicious tension, I would definitely pick this one up. ❤️

💞 But can we talk about TRISTAN?! 😍 Charming, playful, patient, and so incredibly thoughtful! The way he pursues Erin, listens to her, respects her fears, and gives her the reassurance she needs absolutely melted my heart. THIS is the kind of romance hero I love!

This is the 5th book in this awesome series, and this is Erin and Tristan’s story.
Erin briefly met Tristan when she was homeless teenager, and now 19 years-later she is the manager in her uncle’s hotel, which needs a lot of TLC, and Tristan is a successful hotelier who has his sights set on turning the hotel into an exclusive location for his wealthy clientele, and a condition in the sale is that Erin and some other staff keep their jobs. Tristan is now Erin’s boss, and he does not recognize her.
This is a well written slow burn, easy to read story, with family, friendships, emotions, drama, challenges, workplace romance, engaging, and realistic characters, second chances, revelation, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, sweet, and poignant page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This is is part of the Quiet Loves series. You don't have to read the other stories before this one, but they are all subtly interwoven. Having said that, this second chance romance comes neatly bundled with its shorter prequel, so if you haven't read that (or just need a refresher), bonus!
I loved Tristan and Erin as teenagers finding first innocent love. But after being wrenched apart for 20 years, they are now reunited in the workplace.
Just one problem, Tristan doesn't remember Erin.
This has been my favourite LH Cosway novel for quite a while, and I'm already hooked for the next one which will feature Tristan's twin sister.

Erin and Tristan have been through a lot. The first part of the story is a novella about their teenage friendship. Tristan gave Erin a safe place when she was having a difficult time with her family. Fast forward twenty years, Erin manages her family’s hotel when Tristan proposes an offer to buy it. She kept their history a secret, he doesn’t recognize her but has a feeling they’ve met. He’s a caring man, full of heart, which is much different from her ex. They have honest conversations, their friendship seems like it never missed a beat. I’ve had a pleasure reading this series, there’s more to come with Tristan’s sister. I read an early copy and wrote this review voluntarily.
