Last Call, Vampire: A Paranormal Dark Rom-Com

Rate this book
Tegan expected running a late-night bar in Moon Bay to involve drunk magical regulars, shitty pickup lines, and the occasional idiot who needed to be shown the door.

What she didn’t account for? The grumpy vampire who owns the bookstore next door and has apparently made a hobby out of driving every previous tenant out of her building.

Ancient, arrogant, and unfairly gorgeous, Reed dresses like he’s going to a funeral every day, communicates primarily through scowls, and seems personally offended by Tegan’s bubbly existence.

Until a string of murders leaves Reed looking like the town’s most convenient suspect. Suddenly, the human who gets under his skin is also the one person he needs to clear his name.

Now Tegan’s cozy little bar is tangled up in supernatural trouble, her grumpy vampire problem keeps getting hotter, and the man who insists he wants nothing to do with her is becoming suspiciously good at showing up whenever she needs him.

Neither of them are prepared for what happens when those problems collide…especially once the fangs come out.

AUTHOR Last Call, Vampire is a spicy and cozy paranormal romantic comedy. You'll find it packed with banter, small-town supernatural chaos, found family, and opposites-attract tension. And the best part? A grumpy vampire with a secretly soft center for our sweet human bar-owner that's just looking for a place to belong. It will NOT end on a cliffhanger as it is a standalone. Books in this series can be read in any order. Please note that the content is intended for mature audiences.

Last Call, Vampire, while different from R.L. Caulder's other books, was still incredibly enjoyable; it still brings wonderful characters, witty banter, and delicious spice!

It's a spicy, cozy paranormal romance; I've always been a sucker for vampires, and add in the fact that Reed's a grumpy bookstore owner and I'm sold! Reed doesn't hold back his dislike for Tegan's new business.

Tegan is the sunshine to Reed's grumpy, much to his dislike. Tegan moved to a paranormal town as a human to create a space that feels like home. She opens a café by day and a bar by night. Unfortunately, her grumpy vampire next-door neighbor meets every step with new complaints. Tegan responds with a happiness and positivity that slowly break down Reed's walls.

Not only is it a cozy paranormal romance, but there is also a dash of mystery! When people show up dead outside of their businesses, they agree to spend more time together for her safety. I'll always love a protective MMC!

I highly recommend Last Call, Vampire if you're looking for a spicy, cozy, paranormal romance standalone. It has top-notch banter, found family, lots of tension, and a small-town community. It would be the perfect last-minute addition to your spooky season TBR.

You know how there are some books that you know you will love before you ever even read it…. This was that book for me. It took seeing two words to know this was the book for me
“Grumpy Vampire”

I loved watching the annoyance and grumpiness turn into reluctant acceptance to then turn into the “proposition”. And after that well he just never stood a chance. Even when we see the shift in their relationship we don’t lose the teasing and banter which just enhanced every interaction between them. And MY GOSH the PROTECTIVENESS- yes …. Just yes

But what really stole the show was the love and friendship between Ava And Tegan. Some of the scenes between the two of them just completely stole the show.

I’m packing my bags and heading to Moon Bay! Who’s coming with me?

I want to send the biggest THANK YOU to R.L. Caulder for sending me an ARC of Last Call, Vampire.🦇🖤♥️ I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. By chapter 3, I knew it would be a 10/10 for me. The chemistry between Teagan and Reed was so cute and steamy. I loved how Teagan was amused by grumpy Reed and how he opened up to her over time. I actually laughed a lot while reading this. I also might have teared up a little during the epilogue.
Gerald Jr (the zombie dog) was the icing on the cake for that ending.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK! This truly fixed my reading slump frfr. It had everything I love: cozy paranormal rom-com, enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine, SPICE, a little mystery tension thrown in there? Absolute perfection. I hope there is SO MUCH MORE Moon Bay in my future!

R.L. Caulder is an auto buy author for me, so when she announced a new vampire book, esp with a GRUMPY bookstore owner vampire, i was sold. this book is the perfect fall read, but also good for anytime of the year. you get the small town feel from a a magical town where Tegan and her bestie Ava are trying to build their coffee shop & bar business.

first Tegan and Ava’s friendship had me laughing so much. their own banter together was perfection. but then Tegan’s banter with our mmc, Reed, was *chef’s kiss* perfection. but also R.L. Caulder knooows how to write a slow burn and that tension and build up between characters.

and when the spice hits 😮‍💨 for a celibate vampire, Reed knows how to dirty talk.

“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞, 𝐓𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮.”

and with the introduction of so many different characters/towns people, i can’t wait for whose book is next. i love this little world R.L. Caulder created and i highly recommend reading 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒍, 𝑽𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒆 🩸🍸

thank you R.L. Caulder for an e-ARC of 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒍, 𝑽𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒆

Adult Halloweentown meets Hallmark meets Catherine Cowles vibes?!
Yes. Freaking. Please!!

Having read a couple of different series by R.L. Caulder previously and knowing her writing style and sub-genres vary greatly, I genuinely had no idea what to expect out of this.
What I got was a delightfully enjoyable read that was some of the most fun I’ve had from a book in a really long time.
I mean, a bubbly but snarky human FMC moving to a cozy, magical small town and opening a bar next to a grumpy and reclusive bookstore owning MMC who hates any disruption to his solitude? The PERFECT combination for some top tier banter that had me snorting, cackling, and kicking my feet for the entire book.
The friendships/found family in this were also incredible. I want so much more from these side characters!!
Add in murder mystery/romantic suspense elements as well and this book just made my list of cozy reread options REAL FAST.

I cannot wait to see what else is done with this series in the future. But for now? I’m BEGGING y’all to read this if you want your joy in reading revived.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THIS STORY! This was my first story by RL Caulder and I will definitely be starting a new book by her soon bc I loved Last Call, Vampire! Reed was the grumpiest grump I've ever seen and Tegan was so bubbly and sweet that they popped when they were both on the page. I loved the town, Moon & Mug, Ava, Lucas, and all the unique facets of living in this supernatural town as humans. Tegan was so kind, generous, stubborn, and focused and the way she handles her friendships and those she meets was such a pleasure to read. Seeing her win over Reed, much to his own chagrin, was well-earned and super satisfying. The story gave me a shocking turn nearly halfway through which just made me sail on through to the end as quickly as I could. This story was very bingeable, easy to read and understand, and thoroughly immersive and detailed. I felt like the friendship and romance paced so well and honestly, which made it massively rewarding in the end. And that epilogue! I loved everything :)

I absolutely devoured this book!

Tegan moved to Moon Bay with her best friend in tow to start living her life by opening up a bakery/bar but didn’t realize she would be going up against a grumpy vampire bookstore owner with mysterious murders happening around them.

I absolutely adored Tegan’s sunshine to Reed’s grumpy. The way he tries not to like her is commendable but Tegan gets under his skin like no other and he can’t deny how much he actually likes it. Tegan enjoys provoking Reed so much and it was so much fun seeing her break down his walls. What starts out as friends with benefits, quickly becomes obvious they are more than just that.

I loved Tegan and Ava’s friendship and the way Ava liked to poke at Reed was fantastic too. Their sister like love was so heartwarming and they would do whatever it took to protect and support each other.

I adored these characters so much and it was a fantastic cozy paranormal story.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I have a new grumpy, vampire book boyfriend obsession and he came out of nowhere.

I absolutely devoured this book in less than 24hrs. Tegan and Ava’s friendship is just so sweet. But Reed was giving me all the best awkwardly grumpy antisocial Mr. Darcy vibes and I LOVED IT. “I went from craving silence and seclusion, to dreaming of the sound of your laugh.”

The chemistry and banter between Tegan and Reed was fabulous. The small time found family was great. But on top of that we have vampires and a murder mystery!

Thank you so much to the author for the eARC!

This was exactly the banter filled cozy romance I needed to get out of a slump! From the way Reed and Tegan meet to how they get close is just. Ugh. So good.

Tegan and Ava are absolute ride or die besties and I really think everyone should have an Ava in their life 🥰

I laughed more than anything through this book with some drool thrown in for good measure.

And once you’ve seen the character art it makes the scenes so much more immersive 😏

The storyline and the premise was there but the execution didn’t do it for me. The pacing was so off (we spent so much time building the bar but not any time in there or after), the ending felt so rushed, the side characters were talked about frequently but we didn’t get anything from them to build on the story.

Really wanted to like this one so I’m disappointed

What do you get when a 412 year old grumpy vampire bookstore owner has a bubbly human and her bestie buy the building next door to turn into a coffee shop and bar? An absolutely hilarious battle of wills where neither will relent. Tegan and her best friend move to the supernatural town of Moon Bay to start their dual business venture. Tegan is the type to not get knocked down and never has met a stranger. Reed the bookstore owner next door? He owns the bookstore for the tax benefits. Those are his personal books. Don't actually bother him.
From their actual first meeting, the romcom vibes are strong, Tegan gives as good as she gives, and Reed already knows she won't be as easy to push out of the building as previous tenants. There is emotional trauma on both sides, and we soon find that Reed has true fears and a past that have made him the grump he is. Tegan is bubbly and full of life, but as also not escaped some losses in her past.
I love that there is so much laughter, and also true feelings and that trauma isn't exactly gotten rid of, but healed in a way that the scars are there, but they are no longer afraid of those scars and the life led. Reed especially needs to fall in love with himself especially with what happened centuries ago.
On a brighter note, centuries have passed since Reed has been with anything so a benefits situation may make him embarrass himself and his trousers ;) I wish I could read this a first time again, but I shall settle for rereads. RL, you blew this out of the park and I cannot wait for more Moon Bay <3

Some tropes:
Grumpy x Sunshine
MF
Vampire x Human
Mental Sparring/Epic Snapbacks
Go Ahead and Call the Owner ;)

FIVE stars. What an absolutely perfect paranormal mystery book this was. The spice was 🔥🔥🔥 but the town was cozy, an masterful mixture. Take me to Moon Bay please and I'll never leave.
The banter was sharp, hilarious, and filled with such high tension chemistry and emotional ACHE.... I couldn't put this book down.
I absolutely adore Tegan and Reed. Their dynamic was the epitome of sunshine/grumpy. He was the arrogant, icy bookstore owner next door to the new in town bubbly bar owner Tegan. She slowly and relentlessly chipped at his walls until they came crumbling down. I was captivated at reading his POVs because it felt as though each and every one he was falling for her more & more. His formality was so endearing, and when he calls her "little human" or darling... I simply melted. It was the perfect slow burn and when the tension snaps, it SNAPS ( I mean that literally as well... ahem countertop... if you know, you know).
It was also heartwarming when that spitfire banter turned into true vulnerability about their pasts, and genuine concern amidst mysterious murders. It made every intimate moment feel incredibly earned and intense. I was completely swept up in their chaotic beautiful world. I hope to come back one day (hello Ava & Lucas, I need your story) but a flawless standalone. Thank you so much R.L Caulder, the world is a better place thanks to your brilliantly creative mind.

Last Call, Vampire by R. L. Caulder book 1 Creature Comforts
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶½💀½
I had so much fun meeting these characters. They are definitely quirky, entertaining and totally gone for each other.
The main couple was Tegan and Reed. A human and vampire pairing. Grumpy sunshine. Then there's her best friend Ava and their contractor Lucas. Human and werewolf pairing. We have a Twilight love all over these pages and not ashamed of it. Adding murder mystery and turning friends into lovers, having a 412 year old vampire spunking in his pants was absolutely hot as hell 😍 Being new to town, where only supernaturals live and having to integrate into their society. Making friends, helping and learning turns Moon Bay into the best small town I want to visit.

Tropes:
Small town. Human vs supernaturals. Murder mystery. Vampire romance.

Quotes:
“I'll be here. Try not to take four hundred years.” “Tegan.” The warning in his voice makes my grin widen. “What? Too soon?”

“Now, that's hardly ladylike of you to bring up, darling,” he murmurs, his voice a low rumble that sends a pleasant shiver down my spine.

“I went from craving silence and seclusion, to dreaming of the sound of your laugh.” He pauses, his fingers stilling around the pawn. “I find myself looking forward to your interruptions, Tegan. More than I believe is sensible.”

Last Call, Vampire is the first book in the Creature Comforts Series. It is a slow-burn, standalone, paranormal, dark rom-com with a grumpy/sunshine pairing and a unique small town. The story is told in first person, dual pov.

Reed is a grumpy, vampire, bookworm who hates change and loves to file complaints. Tegan is a witty human who moved to Moon Bay to fulfill a dream and honor her late father's wishes.

This was such an awesome read. I really loved the citizens of Moon Bay, they were all so awesome in their very own ways. I loved Reed's quirky, proper, and blunt ways, as well as how Teagan finds true entertainment in antagonizing her grumpy vampire neighbor. The banter between Reed and Tegan was on point and I loved how their relationship developed throughout the story. The mystery, intrigue, and surprises that were sprinkled into the story made it even more entertaining.

This story was very well written with seamless flow and terrific characters, storytelling, character development, storyline, and world building. I loved this book and I am very excited for more stories from the small town of Moon Bay.

Thank you so very much to R.L. Caulder for the ARC; all thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

This was my first RL Caulder book, and if I had to make a guess, I think it's going to be the book that converts me into a lifelong fan. I know her other books are different subject material, but her style of writing was so phenomenal, I bet I'd enjoy reading her grocery list or a drunken note on a bar napkin!

Last Call, Vampire is the perfect combination of cozy small-town romcom and a spicy grumpy x sunshine paranormal romance -- it was everything I could have hoped for and more. I love a man who yearns, but I love a man who won't admit he's yearning even more! The fact that Reed was SO grumpy and hellbent on "hating" Tegan (all the while protecting her and her feelings) was the cutest dynamic and led to the best banter! Reed can handle a lot, he's had 400 years to figure the world out, but NOTHING prepared him for Tegan's relentless optimism and authenticity in the face of uncertainty and chaos. Watching him figure out that she wasn't going to be scared off was so hilarious, I'm going to be thinking about that for weeks!

This book had me snort-laughing out loud, tearing up at Tegan's growth and friendships, and clutching my pearls for the spice -- it was, quite simply, a perfect Fall read.

Last Call, Vampire - R.L. Caulder
Rating - 4/5⭐️
Pairing - Tegan + Reed
Pages - 463
*ARC REVIEW*
*************************************************

"Ava," I whisper back, clutching her forearm. "It's our Twilight wet dream." "A vampire versus a werewolf." "Wolf shifter," I correct automatically. She scoffs quietly. "Whatever. Team Edward versus Team Jacob is happening in our café."

This was SUCH a fun read 😆 I don’t usually enjoy more “contemporary romance” books, but the paranormal addition drew my attention, and I’m so glad I got an ARC and was able to read this! This gives the PERFECT spooky season vibes, with an October setting, coffee shop, and a broody, hot, VAMPIRE!!!

I loved the sisterhood friendship Last Call, Vampire represented too!! There was also the ✨murder mystery✨ aspect that was SO interesting and made this book so good.

The banter? Delicious. The spice? Delicious. And the comedic lines were also chefs kiss. This was such a good read overall and I can’t wait to snag my physical copy!🤞🏻

If you are a fan of cozy small town, paranormal romances with a little bit of spice and m*rder added to it, you’ll love this read🖤

Every reader knows the slump. And every mood reader knows the guilt that comes with having 16 books started, no more than five chapters in, and suddenly you're bored with the book.

That's where I've been. Then I received this as an ARC and I devoured it.

The relationship between Tegan and Reed is awesome, but what originally captived me was the friendship between Ava and Tegan. They have the kind of platonic soul-mate relationship that you don't normally see in romance books. They are a true ride-or-die and I am living for it.

The side characters are amazing and believable. I don't think the town would work without them.

And then we get to Reed. He has one of the best opening lines to a chapter I've ever read. I flat-out cackled! He is definitely the grump to Tegan's sunshine. He is the perfect counterpart to Tegan in every way.

The enthusiasm shown by the author when promoting the book is in every single line. Hands down one of the funniest book that has both smut, spice, and feelings I've read in a long time.

This book is textbook Grumpy x Sunshine, with a super grump vampire who likes his peace and quiet, and a happy human girl who wants to live loud. Opening a coffee shop/ bar in a supernatural town has its downsides. Prejudices and the dislike for new things make opening her new business a bit tricky, but she remains hopeful. Her vampire neighbor, who is a recluse and doesn't like people but finds himself unfortunately softening to the insufferable human next door. They eventually enter a friends-with-benefits type situation, but their blooming romance gets interrupted by dead bodies showing up at their places of work. A murderer is on the loose and trying to frame Reed, but Tegan sticks with him through thick and thin. My favorite part of this is that even when he falls in love with her, he remains grumpy. This was a solid standalone book! I wish the epilogue would have mentioned how her business ended up going; we got so hung up on the murders that the business aspect of the story kinda got dropped.

I cannot get enough of them!! I freaking DEVOURED this book and I’m devastated it’s over.

We follow Reed, the grumpy bookseller who hates every single neighbor he’s ever had. Then we have Tegan, the sunshine human whose life mission has become to open a cafe/bar and make the grumpy neighbor collab with her.

This was the perfect cozy paranormal read! The atmosphere was very Gilmore girls coded and gave the best vibes. The writing was funny and so so banterful.

The romance was delicious and not at all instantaneous. It was a delicious slow burn that made the “f it” moment even better. Like when the celibate vamp FINALLY gives in to his cravings and says:

“I think it’s time we talk about what we’re going to do about this attraction.”

SCREAMING

Or when he says “Show me what you want, Tegan”

Like how can you not fall for this man when he says things like this:

“ I have not belonged to anyone in centuries and yet here I am, lost in you.”

THANK YOU to the author for an ARC of this book, I look forward to reading all of the books within the CREATURE COMFORT series!

The tropes and blurb of this story really drew me in. I love a slow burn, and adding a rom-com twist only elevated my need to read it.

Tegan is the ultimate sunshine baddy with quick wit and banter; Reed is the grumpy reclusive neighbor who just wants to be left alone and has endless complaints of Tegan and Ava's cafe/bar going in next door. I love their connection, chemistry, and banter, and when the slow burn finally heats up, it’s well worth the wait.

I felt that Tegan and Ava's unwavering friendship, sass, and care for each other proved they were more than friends—they were family, sisters for life.

This isn’t just a sweet rom com; there’s also mystery, suspense, and someone leaving bodies outside their business's. Add in a grumpy, protective male main character. The mystery will draw you in right up until the very end.

I highly recommend this if you’re into dark paranormal rom-coms, magical small towns, grumpy/sunshine dynamics, found family, and opposites attract with plenty of witty banter.

Thank you R.L for the gifted ARC copy.

It’s official, Tegan is me and I am her. What an absolute blast this was! Two human best friends move to a town filled with magical creatures to start not one, but two new businesses. Unfortunately, the grumpy vampire next door is determined to run them off. Little does he know, he has met his match in Tegan who is completely un phased by his cold demeanor. When bodies start dropping, these two are at the center of it all and must work together to find the culprit and stay alive.

The banter in this book is an absolute riot and had me cracking up. Both Tegan and Ava are such fun characters and I loved their friendship. Tegan and Reed are so opposite in so many ways but they relate to each other in ways no one else understands. I loved seeing Reed come out of his solitary world. Add in a cast of awesome side characters, spice, and a dash of magic and this one is the perfect dark romcom for spooky season!

*I’m going to need an Ava and Lucas book or novella ASAP, please and thank you.

Thank you to R.L. Caulder for this ARC in return for my honest review. My opinions are my own.

‘Last Call, Vampire’ by R.L Caulder was the perfect mix between a slow burn Rom-Com, sprinkled with magic, a relatable FMC, and a really hot Vampire who owns the bookstore next door 🔥🥵

A Paranormal Romance that had the best rom-com vibes, the perfect supernatural/magical town setting, plus their banter and inability to back away from a discussion lead to some truly funny moments. And there were moments (especially Reed and Tegan’s first meeting) where I laughed out loud, legit giggling over them! Add in a reanimated *cough* zombie *cough* dog and it’s the whole package!

It had everything I LOVE about a paranormal romance and more!
🩸Paranormal Vampire Romance
🩸Slow Burn
🩸Rom-Com with Banter
🩸Cosy Cafe & Bar
🩸Grumpy x Sunshine
🩸Supernatural & Magical Town
🩸Found Family & Friendship
🩸Mystery to Solve

The perfect read to tie up Spooky Season? Yes it absolutely was! And I’ll defs be thinking about the Grumpy Vamp with nice hair for a while 😜

This book is a DELIGHT! If you enjoy paranormal rom coms that are cozy with a bit of darkness added in to create more tension, then this book is for you!

In this book, you have a sweet human moving into a magical town to open a bar, much to the grumpy vampire next door’s dismay. These characters were so fun: their personalities, interactions, banter: I ate it all up! I enjoyed the depth and heart that the characters carried and displayed throughout the book. Of course, I loved the main characters, but the side characters were great as well, making a cozy found family along the way.

The magical small town was so cozy and fun, and I want more of it! It fit the characters and hijinks of the story so well. Overall, this is such a wonderful standalone story, perfect for the spooky season, or any time you want an entertaining cozy read.

Thank you to the author for the e-arc to read and review.

This book was fabulously and uniquely different from R.L. Caulder, but had her absolute magical flair! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I adored the banter between Teagan and Reed. They gave each other just as much as they got. Throughout, their banter turned into more and I loved watching that progression.
I also have to give a HUGE shout-out to Teagan and Ava's friendship. I'm freaking obsessed with their friendship. It's so beautiful seeing their unconditional love for one another. Their support, encouragement, tough love, and so much more. And I can't not mention their silly Twilight references, it made me cackle like a school girl, it was perfect!
R.L. Caulder gave us a truly wonderful book that I loved and a world that I cannot wait to revisit time and time again (with hopefully more books in this world in the future 🤞🏻).

This book was just okay for me. Honestly, I’m not even sure how I managed to read it so quickly! 😂

The pacing felt so strange. I really didn’t expect to spend so much of the book building the coffee shop/bar, only to never really get to see it up and running and thriving. That was disappointing!

As for the rom-com aspect, I expected more. I definitely laughed here and there, but nothing was nearly as funny as I had hoped.

The epilogue was easily my favorite part! It finally pulled everything together for me. I genuinely enjoyed how things wrapped up.

Overall, it was a decent fall read, but it didn’t quite meet my vampire expectations. Nothing particularly terrible, but nothing that really wowed me either.

I freaking LOVED this book so much. As a twilight fan this book was right up my alley. Not that it was ANYTHING like twilight at all lol but just the mentions of twilight int the book sparked my milennial heart lol Reed was perfects his grumpy loner little born again virginal self lol he just made sense in every way possible. His old school mannerisms were swoon worthy. They made the spicy moments even better because one he came unhinged whew was it hot. And Tegan? Always love a redhead lol she was this perfectly crazy energetic ball of life. Her positive energy jumps out at you from the page. Now one thing I will say…I do wish for a book for Ava and Lucas. That would’ve been amazing to read

This book was perfection for this chilly October. I knew immediately upon seeing an Instagram post that I needed to get my hands on this book. And R.L. Caulder book fairyed me an advance copy. This story gives you modern era Twilight meets Halloweentown vibes. Spicy, cozy, sarcasm, and a sexy vampire tie it all together in a perfect bow. The references to team Edward and Jacob had me kicking my feet along with some WONDERFULLY EPIC one liners. I wish Moon Bay was a real place because I would certainly love to visit Reed’s Reads and Moon&Mug. Much like the glitter this book will remain a spooky season favorite I revisit for at least fifty two years 🖤

This book is to die for!….wait, considering there are some murders in this story, I should have phrased that a bit better! But seriously, this has been one of the most fun books I’ve read in a long time! The dichotomy between Tegan and Reed set up the perfect grumpy/sunshine romance with a paranormal twist. Their banter is off the charts, especially when centuries old Reed still speaks so eloquently and not of this century.

But we cannot leave out the girl-power duo that is Tegan and her best friend, Ava. Those two are trouble with a capital T.

The cozy vibes, the slow burn, the mystical town, and the lovable characters all add up to make for one amazing, can’t-put-it-down book!

I liked it. I loved the dark rom com vibes. I loved Reed and Teagan. I did think that the pacing was a little slower, but maybe it was a me issue in that I was at a book convention when reading the book. I did loved the romance, and I liked the plot. I loved the police investigation. I did liked the murder mystery plot also. This book is totally different than the two other books I read from this author. It gives off more of a contemporary feel mix with vampires than a fantasy world vibe. I loved the writing. It was lush and lyrical. Not over flowery. Overall, a great book. I can’t wait to read book two. I want to thank the author for giving me the earc in exchange for a review.
