Ahoy, mateys! Set sail for fun and adventure on a pirate ship full of puppies.
Oh no! Captain Red Beard can’t get out of bed. He’s got the chills and a fever! Without their captain to bark out orders, will the puppy pirates run into trouble? Or will First Mate Curly keep everything shipshape?
Two perennial kid favorites—dogs and pirates—combine in the new chapter book series perfect for fans of Rainbow Magic, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and Paw Patrol.
I read and write lots of funny, adventurous, & heartwarming books for kids, tweens, and teens (and even a few romantic comedies for adults, too!) that are ultimately about finding your place, finding your people, and finding your voice. I always love book recommendations, so please send them my way. As a reader, I'm partial to contemporary romantic comedy, thrillers that keep the pages turning and have well-built characters, funny/original voices, quirky characters, and always kids' books with humor and heart.
This is a timely read since my son currently has a head cold much like Captain Red Beard in this book. It is a fun story with lots of codes to crack. It emphasizes taking care of others in need and also responsibility. Another great book from this series!
This whole series is, as Piggly would say, Pug-glorious! And this adventure is no different. With half the crew sick, how are they supposed to prepare for Party Like a Pirate Day? Wally and his friends try to crack the captain's codes in time to save the day... and in the process, learn that sometimes instructions aren't everything. This book has broad appeal. Definitely appropriate for younger children (like 4 year olds) as a read aloud.
It's almost Party Like a Pirate Day and Captain Red Beard of the ship Salty Bone is ready! Until he gets sick and it's up to his crew to prepare for the fun. Unfortunately, all the plans are written in code so they can't be stolen by the Kitten Pirates! After Wally loses the code sheet parchment readers will scramble to crack the codes (Morse, backwards, etc.) and laugh out loud at the silliness happening on the ship. Great play on words and ends with a good message.
Half the pirate crew is sick, including the captain! It's party like a pirate day also. The captain wants everything to be ready for when he gets better. When Wally accidentally loses the paper of code breakers, the rest of the crew must figure out a way to read the instructions to get the party ready. Will they be able to do it on time? Read the book to find out. I like this book a lot. You have got to read this book because it is really interesting. This book is a great book.
Grade 1 or 2 and up; cute, mild, short chapter book about - you guessed it - puppies that are pirates on their puppy pirate ship. In this entry in the series, the Captain and many other pups are sick, which is putting their annual Pirate Day celebration in jeopardy. Gentle themes of friendship, responsibility, and perseverance are woven through the plot, which is just silly enough to entertain young readers. At the Chandler Library.
I am so thankful for series such as this one. They appeal to young readers, have fun characters and have fun content. I think each book in this series has gotten better and better.
