This was such a cozy and sweet Christmas story❤️

I laughed so hard and I’m not gonna lie, I even teared up a little bit, because Cee, Ben and Charlie were so sweet and fun and caring and I love them 🥹 I also loved all the characters and found family in here (minus Julian obviously) and I really enjoyed how Cee’s story was like our favorite Christmas carol but with her own struggles and wishes, and of course a little Christmas magic too 🙊❤️

It’s fast paced and addictive and so real, because Cee wants it all, success and family and for one moment she thought she has to sacrifice one to have the other, but Ben and Charlie were there to show her that she indeed can have it all with them 🥹❤️

"Christmas Yet to Come" by Emma Scott is a fast-paced, cozy, hilarious holiday novella full of ooey-gooey cheese, riotous happenings, and a sweet love story. This is a retelling of "A Christmas Carol," and you can definitely tell, but Scott puts a fresh spin on this timeless story. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It is so zany and funny; it all comes together with a worthy heart-string-tugging ending. I liked the characters, Caroline, aka Cee (FMC), and Ben (MMC). Caroline is a dedicated workaholic who doesn't understand people who want to spend the holidays with their families??? Ew, but that means they won't be working!! She is about to take her company, PHE, nationwide, and has worked immensely hard for this chance, sacrificing anything and everything to get there. Ben is the handsome, witty vice president of the company. He is the father of an adorable boy named Charlie, who is deaf. Ben and Caroline have worked closely together for several years, and they may both have feelings they are not telling the other. They are about to throw an extravagant holiday ball for donor and schmoozing purposes, but things quickly start to go awry, leading to many silly shenanigans and deep admissions. Cee and Ben have fabulous chemistry with one another. Ben's sense of humor really brings out the best in Caroline. I loved the quick, easy banter between the two of them, which leans snarky, but not in a mean way. Ben and his relationship with Charlie is absolutely precious. I loved Charlie so much. Emma Scott makes this classic story her own in this romantic novella, complete with giggles, swooning, a rowdy reindeer, Christmas joy, and learned lessons. Definitely check this one out!

Thank you to Emma Scott and Valentine PR for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

It is well known that Emma Scott is one of my favorite storytellers ever. I'm so thankful, that I received an early copy of this book. I couldn't wait to read her first romantic comedy. I loved that she put her own spin on a holiday classic. She did a phenomenal job. I loved everything about Caroline & Ben's story. I loved the side characters too, especially Charlie. Highly recommend.

When I learned Emma Scott had plans for a lighthearted holiday romance, I could not wait—and Christmas Yet to Come didn’t disappoint! The chemistry was spot on, and I absolutely adored Ben, but the real highlight for me was the found-family feel among this quirky cast of characters, all stuck working a Christmas Eve gala together. If something could go wrong, it absolutely did, and the comedy of errors had me laughing all the way through! It was sweet, swoony, and chaotic in the best way, while still delivering the emotional depth I’ve come to expect from an Emma Scott book. Grab a mug of hot chocolate and a fluffy throw, because this is the perfect holiday read to curl up with!

Caroline + Ben

Caroline is boss of her own NYC party planning business and this Christmas Eve she's trying to get the company nation wide by acing a gala for some super rich investors.
She booked rooms for all her employees at the hotel where the gala is taking place. Including her VP Ben - with his adorable seven year old son Charlie.
Nothing can go wrong....
There might also be a way too big ice sculpture and a live reindeer.
Let the fun times begin...

❄️⭐❄️⭐❄️⭐❄️⭐❄️⭐❄️⭐❄️⭐❄️

That was really adorable and christmassy.
It was short - I'm not the biggest fan of novellas. But it was cute and I finished it really quickly. Time for more holiday books!
We get so many adorable and funny and christmassy moments.
I just adored all the people and the location and ... it was just lovely.

CHRISTMAS YET TO COME was a really cute Christmas rom-com novella. Funny. Adorable. Sexy. A bit emotional. Christmassy. Read it!

Title: Christmas Yet to Come
Author: Emma Scott
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone novella
POV: First person - female
Rating:

All Caroline Nickleby wanted was a successful career. Her ambition led to her employees having to work through the holidays. But as she climbed the corporate ladder, she needed to realize there was more to life than work before it was too late.

Caroline was a go-getter with tunnel vision when it came to her goals, and I liked seeing her vulnerable side. Ben Crockett was caring, hardworking, and full of wisecracks, but his loved ones always came first. I liked their black cat and golden retriever dynamic.

The story was cute and amusing, with a nonstop series of amusing crises and mishaps. The many supporting characters also brought a variety of interesting personalities to the mix.

Christmas Yet to Come is a tale of seeing life from a different perspective. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a short, lighthearted holiday romance inspired by A Christmas Carol.

Emma is an auto-read author for me and I can't believe this was her very first romcom! It was the perfect way to kick off my holiday TBR . It was light, fun, and moved fast - definitely gives Hallmark reimagining of A Christmas Carol vibes.
Caroline is married to her career. Her and her team are set to throw a very important Christmas Eve gala, one that could take the company nationwide. Ben is the company's VP, and has his son in tow for the gala preparations and launch. I absolutely adored Ben and his rage-knitting, single dad, pining since day 1 aura. The supporting characters all added that extra energy to the story - including Kevin!
The audiobook was narrated by Caitlin Kelly, who did a lovely job telling the story. I listened to it in a day, and was totally immersed. This would be the perfect listen while you're decorating for the season, or baking some holiday cookies.
So thankful to Emma + Valentine PR for the opportunity to immersive read this fast and fun holiday romcom!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Spice-meter: 🌶️☆☆☆☆☆ (1/5)
Audiobook: 🎧 Solo Narration
Series: No, standalone
HEA: Yes

Christmas Yet to Come was such a sweet, fun, and heartwarming holiday read! This Christmas rom-com novella is a modern reimagining of A Christmas Carol, with Caroline as our very own Scrooge. She's a successful, workaholic CEO who has spent years putting her career before everything else. But when her carefully planned Christmas Eve gala starts falling apart, she's forced to take a closer look at her choices, her past, and the future she's heading toward.

Enter Ben, her ridiculously handsome, wise-cracking, overworked employee and single dad. The chemistry between these two was spot on, and I absolutely adored Ben! He's everything you want in a swoony MMC, and his relationship with his deaf son adds another lovely layer to his character. Watching Caroline slowly let her guard down and discover what really matters was such a joy.

This story was sweet, swoony, and chaotic in the best possible way, while still delivering plenty of emotional depth. The real highlight for me was the found-family feel among this quirky cast of characters, all thrown together while trying to pull off a Christmas Eve gala. I loved the humor, the romance, the heartfelt moments, and the redemption arc. A fun little holiday novella with plenty of Christmas charm!

I'm usually not the biggest fan of solo narration, but Caitlin Kelly did a fantastic job with this one! She brought the characters to life beautifully and gave each of them their own personality. Her delivery captured the humor, emotions, and romantic moments perfectly, making the story a real pleasure to listen to. She absolutely won me over with this performance!

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧Enjoyable & Heartfelt!

Christmas Yet to Come
By: Emma Scott
Narrated by: Caitlin Kelly

Emma Scott puts her own unique spin on her modern reimagining of a classic, “A Christmas Carol,” a delightfully enjoyable romance, a life and love that almost wasn’t. Caroline “Cee” Nickleby is ambitious and goal orientated, who is putting all her time and effort into her business, always wanting more for it, but it is coming at a cost. Her personal life is nearly non-existent, as she and her boyfriend Julian lead mostly separate lives, and she seldom sees her family now, other than a few video calls. Her business of throwing galas is hosting a holiday ball, and this ball can be just the one that will boom her business, except for Murphy’s Law and one crisis after another. Granted, she has an excellent team who is helping put out the fires, including her right-hand man and VP, Ben Crockett, a single dad to an adorable boy, Charlie. Cee has her staff staying at the hotel for Christmas Eve, so Ben has his son with him, and Cee also hired a sitter to stay with him while they were working the event, a sitter who knows ASL because Charlie is deaf. Caroline made Charlie’s Christmas extra special with the gift she bought him, and we get a glimpse of how Ben really feels about Cee, though she has no clue. As the evening goes on, there are more hiccups with their event plans, and Cee reflects on her life choices, including her boyfriend Julian. There is never a dull moment in this book, a multilayered story with the perfect balance of drama, a touch of angst, witty dialogue and hilarious shenanigans, heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. I adored Charlie, and he was a real scene stealer, as was the runaway reindeer, and his dad Ben was amazing and so good for Caroline, too. The writing, plot, and world-building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. This is a fabulous retelling of “A Christmas Carol” and it captivated my attention the entire time, tugged at my heartstrings and left me smiling. Emma Scott, thank you for the wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Caitlin Kelly was the perfect narrator to bring the characters and story to life. She covered the voices of all the characters, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who and was believable in every role, males included. Kelly embodied each character completely, grasping every facet of their personality, as well as their every emotion, making you feel each one. Her storytelling is entertaining, and she handled the back-and-forth dialogue naturally and with perfection. This versatile voice artist’s talent has no bounds, and her captivating performance keeps you hooked to the story and dialogue throughout.

If you're looking for a quick, feel-good holiday read with a clever twist on a Christmas classic, Christmas Yet to Come is the perfect book to add to your TBR!

Caroline (Cee) Nickleby is a driven executive who has dedicated her life to building her empire and finding success in the business world. Along the way, she's put love and pretty much everything outside of work on the back burner. But when a pivotal work event on Christmas Eve brings the loves of her past, present, and future crashing into her life, Cee gets a chance to take a closer look at what she's been missing, and what may have been right in front of her all along.

I thought the "A Christmas Carol" inspiration was such a clever spin! The retelling felt fresh and natural, while still capturing the holiday magic and heart of the original story. I also loved the found family and single-dad tropes woven into the story. Give me a little holiday romance, a sweet family dynamic, and a reason to believe in Christmas magic, and I'm sold!

But what I loved most was Cee's realization that she doesn't have to sacrifice the career she's worked so hard for to have the love and life she's always wanted. Her dream wasn't unattainable; she just hadn't found the person who fit into that dream yet. I loved that message and the reminder that the right person should make room for all the parts of you - not ask you to give them up.

Overall, this was a sweet, charming, and quick holiday read that left me smiling. It's the perfect story to curl up with a cup of hot cocoa and get yourself in the Christmas spirit!

I loved everything about this story and devoured it. I hadn't read the blurb or any teasers as Emma is one of my "absolutely will read anything she writes" authors and imagine my delight that I was reading a modern day "A Christmas Carol" story with a female MC as Scrooge. Caroline has only one goal in life...make her business a success. Everything else falls by the wayside. Her family? She'll see them eventually. Her love life? She plans to never be in love again. Companionship is all she is after. Friends? Her employees are the only people she really spends time with. Christmas? Bah Humbug!! A huge event on Christmas Eve is what she needs to move her business forward but sometimes the universe is there to tell you that you need to step back a bit in order to find a future worth living. No ghosts to tell her what her life was like and what will be but the stress of all the chaos brings her more clarity than she ever expected. A completely sweet but "not sweet" story with some truly amazing characters. I love that Emma wrote a holiday story and hope against hope that she does it again.

I know, I know. We haven’t even gotten through Halloween yet. But if you’re like me and you’re already looking ahead and planning your holiday TBR, then I beg of you to add this one to it!

In my mind, Emma Scott is known for writing books that deliver all of the emotional damage and leave me in the fetal position crying like a baby and having puffy eyes for hours BUT this was such a fun read and departure from what she usually writes. (And don’t get me wrong, I love all that pain and suffering and that’s why she’s an auto read author for me but this was a nice break from that 😂)

Christmas Yet To Come is a holiday rom-com novella and A Christmas Carol retelling, except our FMC is the Scrooge in this story and our MMC is her super hot and swoonworthy employee and single dad to his deaf son and I ate this book right up in one sitting. Even though it’s under 200 pages, Emma managed to load this story up with laugh out loud moments where everything goes wrong, feel good moments, character growth and reflection and of course 🌶️🥵

If you’re looking to kick off your holiday reading soon, this book will be releasing on November 10th! A nice early Christmas gift from Emma to us. 🎁🎄🎅🏻😍

This was such a sweet holiday novella! I absolutely loved Ben and Caroline together! Ben yearned for Caroline for so long he probably thought he was never going to have a real shot with her but then a Christmas miracle practically happens and he gets his chance! Caroline is so strong and independent and a true "boss lady," but at the same time she does the most caring gestures for Ben (and Charlie) without batting an eye. She needed this kind of serious wake up call to realize how miserable she was with Julian and how the perfect guy (Ben) was right in front of her the entire time! The ending had me tearing up on my commute to work. I also loved the chaos of the whole Christmas Eve gala and how it brought the whole PHE team together. And of course, Kevin the reindeer was such a nice comedic touch to the story! All in all, this was such a great holiday rom-com that all readers will enjoy!

Thank you so much to Valentine PR for the advanced copy! Christmas Yet to Come releases on November 10, so be sure to check it out!

Arc review

Emma Scott is the queen of emotional books. I am always ready to cry. But this had me giggling and in the mood for a Christmas party🤪

Caroline was such a hardworking and driven character. Her passion for her work was honestly inspiring. Her goal to furthering her career relied on a giant event going perfect....it was anything but😅 A relationship that was all for show, a ex fiance and a man she had feelings for all show up and this was the best kind of messy🤭
Ben was such a heartthrob. A single dad to a son whos deaf and his whole goal is to make sure Carolines visions come to life. Feelings for her were always there but hard to show with how busy this girl was. But he was always so supportive and sweet 🥹

The connection between these two is so sweet. With all the craziness happening with the event he was there for her.
This was just such a short, sweet and festive read. The characters felt so real with the fights and just all the drama that comes in life. They all fit right into eachothers lives🤎

Thank you vpr for the earc!!

This audio gets a 4.5 stars from me.

Ok, so check your triggers because an open relationship might not be on everyone's bingo card..... If your ok with that then lets proceed.

This book is about a FMC who is trying to get her company up and going to big things. She has a boyfriend who is not the best. Let's say that as a nice as I'm going to get for calling him names.
Then we have a worker who has worked for her for a hot minute... I mean what could go wrong when trying to do a Christmas Eve gala party that a storm is on the horizon and a nativity scene is on the loose? Lots of fun.
Join this novella style story for a Christmas miracle and some fun stuff that makes you go huh.... AND you will see the true side to some people
Just take this story for what it is and don't read into it. This will give you the most bang for your buck in this story. Just enjoy the ride. It's a HEA. I would love to see what happens to certain characters. Maybe in future books.......

Thank you to the author and VPR for allowing me to listen to this book early.

Lovely Christmas story
What a lovely take on the story A Christmas Carol.
Caroline also known as Cee has her life turned around when she sees her past and future all in one night.
She’s a workaholic that needs to slow down and has a loveless arrangement with the man that she has been seeing for years.
When a series of things happen on Christmas Eve she begins to see her life differently and finally takes notice of her attraction to her co-worker Ben, who has stood by her side for years, quietly waiting for her to realise what they could mean to each other.
I loved Ben’s son - sweet little Charlie, the magic of Christmastime with Kevin the reindeer and the people that rallied around Caroline as the night wore on.
A sweet story with a steamy scene, full of drama, self reflection, love and a found family.
I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Caitlin Kelly, really enjoying her interpretation and portrayal of this story.
Thank you Emma Scott and VPR Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

This is a fabulous read. Beautifully written, a whimsical, funny, single Dad, unspoken love and a peek of what life would be/could be for a career focused boss tale.
A Christmas Eve Gala that could make or break a business. Cee is so busy building her empire she can't see what is right in front of her. A night intended to impress new clients rapidly turns into a comedy of errors. A reality check on her life, add to that a life threatening Nutcracker, a Reindeer apparently wandering randomly around a hotel and an after dinner act that frankly sounds more suited to a stag do and you have the best Xmas tale you will read. With more than one nod to Dickens and a number of his most loved characters, this a fantastic take on an old story that will capture you from the first page, you won't put it down once you begin reading.

This book is so sweet and gooey. It’s like a chocolate brownie with extra chocolate chips and fudge chunks had a baby with a sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce. Stop it with that sweetness! My thighs feel thicker just thinking about it.

Christmas spirit lives on in full force with nutcrackers, reindeer, and special Christmas gifts, and the Charles Dickens references add extra sparkle.

If you can find a man who will knit you a scarf for Christmas, I say, grab that man and never, ever let him go. If you kind find a woman who can rock the green silk dress Kiera Knightley wears in Atonement, let me know, because I want to steal her dress!

Pure, and utter Christmas magic.

This is a great book if you want something quick, short and sweet. There's a touch of Christmas past, present and future that was interesting to watch for the FMC.

I felt like there wasn't enough character growth from the FMC. She switched up on her feelings in a second and the cheating didn't sit well with me.

I loved the side characters though! Ben and Charlie are so sweet and I would read a story about them!

This would be a great book to get cozy on the couch with while the snow is falling. It had great cozy Christmas vibes.

Christmas Yet to Come by Emma Scott
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

First thanks to Valentine PR for the ALC, it was a quick fun entry to the holiday season.

Caroline owns a successful business throwing galas in NY, this next gala could launch her into spreading her beyond NY. She has been in a toxic relationship for years with someone who is using her.

Ben is her VP; he is a single dad with a deaf son. Caroline gets them a suite for the gala as it’s on Christmas Eve.

Caroline sees her past, that leads her to where she is, her current, which isn’t that great, and her future that she desperately needs to change. With one decision during this gala, she gets to have the life she imagined!

This was a fun retelling of a Christmas Carol about a workaholic event planner, Cee, her overworked but loveable (and witty) VP, Ben, his deaf son, Charlie, and her team, Adrian, Daisy (whose dry wit and slang made me laugh out loud), and Vivianne. They are trying to pull off the holiday event of the season so Cee can expand her business. Hijinks involving a reindeer, an overly large ice sculpture, and a snow storm ensue, as Cee relives her past and sees her future.

This is a perfect holiday novella to get you into the holiday spirit!

Christmas Yet to Come is a reimagining of the classic A Christmas Carol with a romantic spin.
It centres on Caroline (Cee) Nickleby a workaholic business woman striving to take her company to the next level even if it means working Christmas Eve to nab a new client. As the story goes she has a few festive epiphanies along the way and may even find her happily ever after.

This book is a novella so its short and sweet with fun characters, a few laughs and a sprinkling of spice. It includes some favorite tropes like grumpy x sunshine, a single dad and workplace romance wrapped up with festive cheer. A good choice if you want a lighthearted and quick festive read that will leave you smiling.

Ben character had to be my favourite he had everything a girl wants in a man.

A cute quick holiday read…with fun characters. Cee is a hard worker who enjoys her job. But is she missing life… or even more importantly is she missing out on love? Then you have Ben and his adorable son. This is a fun ready with characters who have you laughing out loud…in the best possible way. This story is about family, not seeing what is right in front of you and everything in between.

Thank you Emma Scott for the ARC! This was such a cute holiday novella to get you in the holiday spirit. It had the vibes of A Christmas Carol which was super fun and Ben was the perfect match for Cee and his son Charlie stole the show with his buddy Kevin (IYKYK). Great palette cleanser for the holiday season!
