Sean lived a privileged life; his older sister was more wild than good manners dictated, his father was never home and his mother was a money-hungry social climbing harpy. Still, he was satisfied with what he had ... until the day the clocks ran backwards and everything fell apart
About the author I'm the author of the novel Sparks. I have two cats, which are the sunshine of my life. I live in the sunny southwest. You can find me hiding from the sun with a cup of tea in one hand and a taco in another.
A first novel from a new writer. Broken Clocks shows promise with a good story line, and a tantalizing "more to come" ending that begs for Book Two.
This self-published book would benefit from more character development as well as giving the reader a better sense of time and place. I'm feeling a late-19th century setting, though the language and manners are somewhat inconsistent with that time period. There are some grammatical errors that are somewhat jarring, and some sentence structure that could be improved.
Overall, a good first attempt that would benefit from the help of a good editor/mentor.
