Dr. R. Albert Mohler Jr. serves as president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary - the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention and one of the largest seminaries in the world.
Dr. Mohler has been recognized by such influential publications as Time and Christianity Today as a leader among American evangelicals. In fact, Time.com called him the “reigning intellectual of the evangelical movement in the U.S.”
In addition to his presidential duties, Dr. Mohler hosts two programs: “The Briefing,” a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview; and “Thinking in Public,” a series of conversations with the day’s leading thinkers. He also writes a popular blog and a regular commentary on moral, cultural and theological issues. All of these can be accessed through Dr. Mohler’s website, www.AlbertMohler.com. Called “an articulate voice for conservative Christianity at large” by The Chicago Tribune, Dr. Mohler’s mission is to address contemporary issues from a consistent and explicit Christian worldview.
Concise and encouraging little book for new pastors, especially those engaged in church revitalization. Mohler highlights and explains the matters essential for pastoral faithfulness and Biblical success. There are many details and side issues that can pull time and focus away from what matters in pastoral ministry and church life. Mohler shows what is truly important and then finishes with three testimonials of pastors who successfully stuck it out through church strife and division. Very encouraging!
This book is purely introductory in the area of church revitalization. That being said, it is an excellent source for what it does. R. Albert Mohler Jr. has assembled a great cast of contributors, both from the academic world and from the church. Each contribution provides a beginners guide to church revitalization, and also points the pastor to additional sources to continue the journey. It's a great source for denominational leaders, pastors, church members, and students.
This is your standard Baptist Mafia book published by the SBC or its entities. It is a number of small essays about revitalization, primarily focusing on preach the word, love your church, stay the course. Each essay is written by a mafia favorite, but it likely will not teach or instruct you in any capacity beyond the obvious as stated already.
Un excelente libro, con varios consejos sobre, como dice en su título REVITALIZAR la iglesia. Me gustó mucho el énfasis en la predicación expositiva como medio para sanar, fortalecer y acrecentar la Iglesia local
Short and sweet advice and testimonies concerning church revitalization. Sticking to the Word, developing leaders, and longevity are key. The examples were from metro areas which provide more possible people, but also have more “competition.”
Nothing in here is bad. It’s all true. But a “guide” should have more guidance. It does a good job of laying the foundation, but it is lacking on the practicals.
In addition to planting new churches, many men are called to revitalize declining churches. This book—a compilation of articles and interviews—addresses this important topic. As a guide book, it provides some basic instructions and introductions to the concept of church revitalization. Particularly helpful were the three dialogues at the end, which gave real-life weight to the principles previously discussed. In all, this is a helpful introduction that, while lacking depth, defines this vital process.
