Why you gonna make me cry like this!! Absolutely beautiful and selfless of Mitsuru...but:

" I had such a sweet, soft dream... that eased the bittersweet aching of my heart. Autumn was coming to an end. Mitsuru didn`t notice...THE FOOTSTEPS OF A NEW LOVE APPROACHING."

Mitsuru and Megumu Kobayashi are back to trading places so that Mitsuru can find out who Shino was out on a date with while he was being "forced" to spend the entire day with Tokugawa. Megumu agrees so that she can watch Aoi compete in Sports Day at the school he attends.

Another cute addition to the story and Mitsuru faces the tough decision of helping Shino discover her true love, or keeping them apart so that he has a shot with his first love. Tokugawa manages to hide in the sidelines while watching her first love, Mitsuru, pine after Shino. Aoi and Megumu are cute as always, and who is the mysterious stranger who suddenly arrives?

sad

We all want to know about Aoi's past. There's a teaser throughout this whole book of this new mysterious character on the scene. We find out in the next volume. This series is a quick fun read and I do admire Ikeyamada for acknowledging that some fans might be mad, but she didn't want it to be smooth sailing for all the characters. I think it will grow up Mitsuru and who knows? Maybe Shino will come back around.

Now if only Aoi and Megumu would do something already. ANYTHING. MORE THAN 10 INCHES CLOSER!

Quick recap: Megumu and Mitsuru Kobayashi are fraternal twins. Megumu’s a studious history nerd and Mitsuru’s good at kendo and other sports. They go to different schools. When Mitsuru’s grades dropped badly enough that he’d lose his sports eligibility, he pressured Megumu into switching identities with him for a week so she could take his makeup tests. Each of them fell in love with someone from the other’s school while disguised.

Mitsuru’s crush is Shino Takenaka, a sweet-natured deaf girl. He and his sister have been learning sign language to communicate with her, but she’s unaware of the identity switch. Azusa Tokugawa is Shino’s classmate who bullied her until Mitsuru stepped in. She’s aware of the switch, and used it to blackmail him into meeting her for a “challenge” because she finds him inexplicably hot. While they were out on this not-a-date, they saw Shino kissing a young man.

Mitsuru’s not happy about this, but has no normal way of getting in touch with Shino to find out what’s up. So he persuades Megumu to switch places with him again with the promise she’ll get to see her crush, Aoi Sanada, who is Shino’s brother (due to divorce they have different family names) and wears an eyepatch, at the boys’ school sports day.

Mitsuru in disguise learns about Shino’s “other man” and works to find out what their real relationship is.

Meanwhile, Megumu indulges in a little recursive crossdressing at sports day, by having “Mitsuru” wear a female cheerleading outfit. Aoi knows what’s going on, so he’s just bemused, but his classmate Moyuyu finds himself again questioning his sexuality.

While Megumu and Aoi become closer, Mitsuru learns a bittersweet lesson about romance and the cost/benefit ratio of unselfishness.

Time skip! It’s now the beginning of the next school year. Aoi and Megumu are openly dating, while Azusa keeps “challenging” Mitsuru. He finally gets a chance to see her at one of her modeling shoots, where it turns out the other models are “mean girls” too. She shows off her quick thinking and modeling skills. Mitsuru starts to think Azusa might have a better side….

The silly romantic comedy continues, but with a serious moment of heartfelt emotion here. This is really the first time in the series that Mitsuru has to choose between his own desires and what will make another person happy. HIs previous lies also come back to bite him.

The art remains cute, and Azusa has progressed from bully to “tsundere” (person who’s mean on the outside but has feels inside.) I suspect the crossdressing plot device has finally run its course; it’s hinted that the twins (especially Megumu) have physically developed enough to make it more difficult for them to pass as each other.

There’s still a high level of coincidence needed to make things run.

Content note: Azusa is bullied by her fellow models.

Overall: Still a sweet series for romantic comedy fans, but it might be getting more generic from this point.

Megumi and Aoi continue being a cute couple working on his problem of being 'allergic' to girls. Megumi really starts to mature through the 6 month spans of this particular volume.

Meanwhile Mitsuru has his heart broken when he listens Shino is in love with an older boy, who actually returns his feelings. He solidifies himself as a great friend when he works to bring the two lovebirds together and then deals with his heartbreak in private. But Azusa knows and remains his friend as he slowly gets over his crush.

All in all it was pretty good and it's nice that the timeline jumped so all these relationships seem far more believable.

Aoi and Megumu's date went amazingly and now Megumu's cross dressing as her brother so she can go see Sports Day at Aoi's school.

Meanwhile, Mitsuru has a decision to make. Shino likes another boy but she's convinced he doesn't like her back. Of course this other man likes her but doesn't think she like him. Mitsuru has a golden opportunity to make sure Shino remains single. Or should he put Shino's happiness first?

This series has 15 volumes.

Nothing so cute happened this time, Mitsuru is depressed he helped Shino find love with someone else, Megu and Aoi continue their no touching dating, Tokugawa battles and pines. It was a bit of a drag to get through, not really holding my attention. Not a fan of Mitsuru’s changed hair but he was pretty indistinguishable from Aoi, I had to look for the eye patch to be sure who it was. There are things brewing though so next volume will maybe be more exciting.

Mitsuru was being so selfless in this volume. So damn sweet but sad at the same time. He did the right thing (not sure about the age gap but I won’t get into that lol).. If you truly love someone, you would let them be happy even if it’s not with you. Love is selfless, not selfish.

Oh and that time jump near the end of this volume was a surprise!! I do like seeing the characters grow up more instead of being stuck in their first year of high school…

Ok so this volume went into a direction that I didn't think would happen but actually I think that was a good thing. I also like that there was a six month time jump because its moving the plot along in the best way. However, one mystery got solved and there's a new one in place and I'm just like whaaaattt. But its ok I'm still happy with this series and excited to continue on 4 out of 5 stars

Wellllllll...I'm definitely losing interest in this one. I do like how things are going with Tokugawa--she's pretty interesting. And I still kind of love it when that dork Moyuyu shows up. But I don't really have a lot of patience for this whole "I can't touch girls" thing of Sanada's.

This series is really at it's best when the twins are cross-dressing. This is what sets this series apart form other shojo manga. In this manga there is a time jump, which is welcomed and helps moves the story along in regards to character development.

The development of particular relationships is fresh and I'm here for it. Ikeyamada doesn't make this easy for some characters and keep it sweet with shorts. The dynamic gives something for everyone.

Not gonna lie: I read this series super fast and don't remember it super well. The romance was cute, though, and I liked it enough to keep reading until the end.

Can I keep saying this manga really surprises me? Well it does. The plot is very un-formulaic.

Finally, there's some drama added to the story, but it's still sickeningly sweet. I'm halfway through my stack of ten.

~3.5/5

We get to see Shino’s romance in this volume. Which just pushes forward the fact that Mitsuru really has no chance with her. She’s in love with someone else, and he’s a sweet guy who likes her back.

We get to see more cuteness between Megumu and Aoi. I am a fan of them and think they are quite adorable. They’re growing closer, emotionally and physically, and being very lovey-dovey with each other. It is adorable.

Next I can tell we’re going to see a real romance start to form between Mitsuru and Azusa. I think that one will be a bit more difficult, but I’m sure it’ll be funny to watch, and cute in the end.

I’m mostly just okay with this series. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. I don’t really care much for the characters. At times I think they’re adorable, other times I find them and the writing very annoying. It goes back and forth so much I don’t know what to think anymore.

If I keep going with this series, it’ll be slowly, and only when I get the chance.

2.5 Stars. I don't know why but the spark died in this volume for me, probably because the fun initial premise has completed and left little to take its place. I do like Megumu and Aoi's relationship but it lost a ton of steam, and Aoi's secret has been put off so long that I've lost most of my interest in finding out what it is. As for poor Mitsuru, I've lost all interest in his love life - I really liked Shino but really don't care one way or the other about Tokugawa. I'll try one more volume, but I don't have high expectations of continuing the series much further. So sad.

Wow! I didn't expect that Mitsuru's love interest would be out of the story so quickly. I mean, she has a boyfriend and Mitsuru only wants her to be happy.

On the other way, Azusa's becoming an interesting character. At first, she was the crazy one and worked as a comic relief but now it seems that she's going to play a much larger role.

On to volume #6...

The Shino portion of our story seems to resolve itself in this chapter. I believe this also briefly hints at a new character from Aoi's past coming into the fold. Azuza is going to get more development going forward too (though her back story remains a mystery even in later volumes).
