Norway Romance #2

Entwined in Norway

The second in the Norway Romance series follows Ida Larsen.

Erik Anderson’s snowboarding career is over. Still recovering from the accident that took everything from him, he travels to Norway to find out for himself whether a family legend, passed down through generations, is true. It’s all he has left.

Ida Larsen gave up years of her life caring for her parents and now that they’re gone, she is struggling to find her place in the world. Feeling the pressure to stay in Bergen to help out her family, she takes a new job that keeps her close to home, working for her brother Mats in his newly opened luxury island hotel. It’s the safe option, but that’s what she needs right now. What she doesn’t need is a cross Canadian complaining about the hot water.

Whether it’s because of his Norwegian roots, or the magic of the fjords in the summer, Erik feels an immediate connection to the small island. And to Ida, the only person in months who has no patience for his moods and isn’t afraid to say so.

Over a stolen couple of weeks spent kayaking and hiking in the fjords they each find a new perspective on how to move on with their lives. But Erik still has to address the reason he came to Norway in the first place. And he and Ida may find they have to choose between loyalty to their families and what they’ve found in each other.

Victoria Walker has been writing romantic fiction since a visit to Iceland in 2014 inspired her first novel. As well as writing, she spends her free time dressmaking, knitting and reading an inordinate amount of contemporary romance, occasionally punctuated by the odd psychological thriller and saga.

In the past she has worked as a cinema projectionist, a knitting and sewing tutor and has owned a yarn store, all things which will no doubt appear in her books if they haven't already.

Victoria lives in the Malvern Hills.

Another classic from Victoria Walker taking us back to Norway, to Mats' boutique island hotel, with Ida at the helm as manager. Enter Erik, a grumpy Canadian ex snowboarder, out of competition thanks to an accident, who has come to Norway to chase down an old family legend. Sparks fly immediately between the two of them, and we enter the familiar territory of 'this holiday romance is AMAZING but of course it's only got a couple of weeks and then we'll be devastated!' But although this is familiar, it is indeed how things can happen and Walker does it SO well, with characters that we genuinely care about and in fabulous locations described with such joy and affection - I just can't get enough of them, whether it's Norway or Iceland, she keeps me coming back for more! I love the heartwarming romance, the sensitive illustration here of the cautious rebuilding of broken people, and I especially enjoyed this book's unique conflict, cunningly seeded in the first book. If Victoria could open in real life the hotels, shops, and tour companies she creates for us in words, she'd be a millionaire in no time! In the meantime I'm delighted to count myself amongst her dedicated fans, eagerly waiting to see who will be next to receive her matchmaking treatment - we're left with a couple of likely looking candidates at the end of this volume!
