The battle of Ichigo and Ulquiorra comes to an end with a devastating result! Back in Karakura Town, the battle rages on between the Soul Reapers and the Arrancars. As the Soul Reapers is almost defeated, Shinji Hirako and the Visoreds enters the battle stopping Aizen's ambition of taking over! As always, not much different but the arc is getting more and more exciting.

Volume 40: Basically just the fight between Ichigo and Ulquiorra. Yammy appears, then Uryu shortly afterward, but Yammy is kicked out of the battle and Uryu is just tasked with guarding Orihime. Ulquiorra Releases into Resurreción, then again into Segunda Etapa. He fucks Ichigo and Uryu's shit up, but at the very end a semi-conscious Ichigo starts transforming.

Volume 41: Ichigo transforms into Vasto Lorde or Resurrección or "Complete Hollowfication," whatever you want to call in, and defeats Ulquiorra. Yammy reveals to Rukia, Renji, and Chad that he's actually the #0 Espada. Halibel and Barragan both activate Resurrección.

Volume 42: Continuation of the fights of previous volume. Near the end, Aizen, Tōsen, and Ichimaru arrive. Shortly afterward, the Vizards jump in. They mostly just clean up Gillian mobs. Volume ends with Komamura and/or Hisagi about to fight Tōsen.

Really liked this volume.
One of the highlights was the conclusion of the battle with Ulquiorra.
The rest is more battles and it is interesting with some very good moments but the battle between Ichigo and Ulquiorra is definitely the best of the 3 volumes.

I really think Ulquiorra was a good villain and it is a shame his arc wasn't longer... :(
Also Ichigo becoming a dead monster hollow for a while there is pretty cool as well.

Ichigo is facing off with Ulquiorra, Yammy joins the show. Orihime shows her worry about Ichigo's battles. Squad 13's hands are full woth the foes they are facing but will the battle turn when unknown allies show up? Who will win and who will lose as we are going deeper into the climax of Arrancar arc.

I really enjoyed this one, perhaps one of my favourites from this arc. The fights were all super interesting and felt really dynamic.
The main thing I noticed though was how awesome some of the designs were especially the espadas full release designs with some great panels and artwork too.

the ulquiorra fight is genuinely awful — ulquiorra himself is flat and boring, and both characters’s powers are as bland it gets visually — and long to boot. there are a few fun character moments later in this volume, especially between kyoraku and ukitake, and i enjoy the vizards showing up, but this is thin gruel.

Excellent book! I loved the anime and I dabbled in the manga but I wanted this one particularly mainly because of Ulquiorra since he is my favorite character. I loved this manga and I am really happy that I bought this one!

What a badass volume. The battles were some of the best ever. The character's designs in this manga never cease to impress. Ulquiorra has been one of the coolest villains in the series. So many suprise reveals, can't wait to see where it all goes.
