Todd Durkin tells us, “adversity and challenge can do one of several things to you: 1) It can create fear and insecurity that knocks you down, keeps you down, and spirals you into a deep, dark place. 2) It can propel you forward if you ultimately choose to do something positive with your life. 3) Or it can do both!At some point in our lives we have all had some form of challenges that dealt with us harshly. Now Ms. Blackwell wants to deal with our mental life, physical life and spiritual life. Each detox section of this book is an examination of all three aspects. There are thirty detox sections that if we apply what it written here we will allow God to move and make changes in our lives. This is a book that will help you see God, see how we can be “detoxed” and have what we see change our lives as well. This is also a book that will make a great gift to friends and family so that they can be “detoxed” as well..

Insecurity Detox: A Beakout Plan to Rejuvenate Your Body, Mind, and Spirit is a great and motivational book. It is broken down into 30 detoxes that helps one "cleanse" of doubting themselves and boost their self confidence. Each detox is only about 8-10 pages long, which is perfect for busy people that can easily work in a detox per day. The detoxes each include the following sections: Inspiring quote Inspiring story Physical Detox Mental Detox Spiritual Detox Prayer I found this book to be helpful and had some great advice. I personally enjoyed the Physical Detox section the most. Recommended 5 stars I received this book from Howard Books in exchange for my honest opinion, which was given.
There is a target audience for this book, and I am not it. I didn't realize when I asked for an ARC of this book that it was a Christian self-help book (and I do think they should do a better job of disclosing that in the blurb); since I am not a Christian, a great deal of the book was not useful to me. There were some good ideas about physical and mental steps to take to help get rid of insecurity, though the physical tips sometimes seemed disconnected from the idea of the chapter. Definitely a read for those who want God and bible verses in their self-help books.

Sadly this book was archived before I could download to read it. It has been added to my TBR and I’ll keep an eye out for it again in the future or at my local library.
*I won this book through First Reads!* April 1, 2016: I finished this book not long before summer classes started, so I haven't had time to write my review, but I'll try to get to it soon!
3-18-17 Wow I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! The description is so inspiring. Thought it would really help on changing your mindset, and learning to be confident.
At first I didn't know about this, because she's a sports trainer, and I would have preferred to have this done by a regular, average person. I also didn't know about a book that you have to pace yourself through. Could take weeks, or even longer, and to read one exercise a day.
-I had made up my mind to read this, but I had other books around, and I was more interested in reading them, so I knocked one out in a few days &put this one on hold.
I wrote down the different exercises and things so I could look over in the future (because I could never write in a book!)
-wish the book itself had had more of a defined ending. The book was coming to a close& it started out on an ending note. But when it did end, I was surprised. It’s a good idea to recap the thirty detoxes, because it was a lot of information to cover.
-I think this book was full of good exercises to do. &I’ll have to keep referring back to the exercises I wrote down& the notes I made while reading, because they are definitely something that needs to be worked on over time.
I like that the author herself has been through struggles, and knows what it’s like to feel insecure, and not good enough. I thought this would be from a trainer who just spouts out positivity without knowing what it’s like to be in a dark place. So I was glad that wasn't the case.
I like that this book had short chapters. In a self help book full of advice, exercises, tips and activities, that was really great. You could stop after each idea. And it helped to not feel overwhelmed. The information needed to be broken up in this way.
