I really enjoyed this book and honestly had so many thoughts by the time I finished it.
Alina was easily one of my favourite parts. She’s strong, independent and morally grey, and I loved that she never felt like a character who needed someone else to come along and save her. She has her own secrets and her own way of dealing with things, and I really liked getting to know her slowly throughout the book. Finding out more about her past made so much of her character make sense and definitely kept me invested.
And then there’s Nathan. Their dynamic was probably my favourite part of the romance. The constant arguing, stubbornness and tension between them was so good. Neither of them is willing to back down, which made their relationship feel different from the usual dynamic you get in a dark romance. The chemistry was there from the start and I definitely wanted more of them.
I also really enjoyed that this wasn’t just romance. There’s a lot happening with Helios, the Cult, Alina’s past and all the secrets surrounding the characters. There were quite a few moments where I thought I had things figured out, only to realise I definitely didn’t.
Overall, this had everything I was looking for — a strong FMC, morally grey characters, enemies-to-lovers tension, plenty of plot and a lot of mystery.
And that ending… I was NOT prepared for that cliffhanger. I finished the book and immediately wanted the next one.
Definitely a 10/10 for me. I need book two ASAP 😍

Okay I genuinely don’t even know where to start because I have SO many thoughts about this book 😭
Alina??? I loved her. She’s so independent and capable, and I really liked that she’s not the kind of FMC who just needs someone to come and save her. She has her own life, her own secrets, her own way of dealing with things, and I was so invested in finding out more about her.
And Nathan… 😭
The tension between these two was actually insane. The arguing, the stubbornness, the whole “I don’t need you” energy… I was eating it up. Their dynamic was probably one of my favorite things about the book.
I also really loved Lidia and Alina’s friendship. 🥹 I’m always a sucker for good friendships in books, and I loved seeing that side of Alina. The found-family aspect in general made me so attached to the characters.
And I liked that there was so much happening outside of the romance too. Helios, the Cult, Alina’s past, all the secrets… every time I thought I understood what was going on, I wanted to know more.
Also, Alina’s past??? 😭 I really liked the way we slowly learn more about her and understand why she is the way she is. It made her character so much more interesting to me.
And the ending…

I had a really enjoyable time reading this book! It was entertaining, easy to get into, and kept me wanting to turn the pages.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between the FMC and MMC. Having a badass female killer who works independently, and an MMC who is also involved in the killing business through an organization that wants to recruit her, made for a fun and interesting dynamic. I loved seeing how their worlds collided and how their interactions unfolded.
My only real criticism is that I would have loved a little more depth and a slower build-up, especially in the beginning. Some things happened a bit too quickly for my liking, and I think a slower burn would have made certain moments even more impactful.
That being said, I genuinely enjoyed the story, had a great time reading it, and was invested enough to keep wanting to know what would happen next.
As the first book in a new series, I’m now even more curious about where things will go from here. I’m definitely looking forward to book two and can’t wait to see how everything unfolds!

I have no words to describe this book. It’s fast moving but not too fast. Alina, yeah she’s my girl. I loved that she needed absolutely no one. His passionate she was and how strong! She’s so independent it make me chuckle whenever anyone attempted to lend a hand.
Her and Nathan I loved their dynamic so much. The bickering, the tension, the whole energy. I neee more of them asap! I was invested from the first page. I really where down willingly every round our characters went down. I absolutely loved Rosa and the mystery around her vibe. I need her book asap actually I neee them ALL asap. Lidia is the first everyone doesn’t know they need!!
I loved how we didn’t really get to know about Alina’s past in chapter one. The slow little bits and the whole reveal with Nathan and Harper I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!!!! This has everything I was looking for and everything I didn’t know I needed. But ending it like that, what do you mean?! I was on the edge of my seat, I was ready and then..

Alina is EVERYTHING. A morally gray, absolutely terrifying FMC who hunts down abusive men and has zero problem getting her hands dirty. And then Nathan comes along and somehow gets past all those walls she’s spent years building.
I also LOVED the setting. The whole Meridian + Helios Division world gave the book this dark, secretive, action-packed atmosphere that made it feel like more than just a romance.
Alina and Nathan were definitely my favorite part, but the darker themes, and the mystery surrounding Alina’s past kept me hooked too.
Dark romance + badass FMC + morally gray characters + secret organization + vigilante justice + HEAVY chemistry = yes please.
And that cliffhanger… excuse me??? I need book 2 immediately.

This might not be for everyone because I don’t think it’s a typical dark romance.
The heroine is crazy here and and at no point in a book she lets Nathan take control which is not typical for dark romance. Usually the guy leads the book while the girl listens so this was in my opinion amazing!
She reminds me of heroines like celena in TOG or bratva bride or Lana myers.
The enemies to lovers dynamic between Alina and Nathan is full of chemistry.
And this book also is full of plot this is definitely not just a romance. The back story had me hooked from beginning and the cliffhanger at the end….i need the second book NOW 🥲
