After Ro’s stint working part time at a hotel where scientists frequently stay, she manages to hack into their computer and retrieve a list of scientists’ and other lab employees’ names. Though the ice between them has melted, he knows he can’t get involved with Ro or anyone else again until he finds Ellen’s killer. He can’t afford the distractions. But he doesn’t realize just how close he’s come to the killer—or that the killer knows Ben is on to him—until he finds all of the tires on his car slashed after leaving the prom.
Now Ben knows no one he loves is safe—not Ro, not his parents, not his teenage sister Hayley, or her best friend Lily who has a huge crush on him. With the stakes dangerously high, Ben knows he’s running out of time—and that his next chance at apprehending the killer may very well be his last…

I read all of her books but I really got sucked into this series. I don't know why exactly, I think Ben is just so likeable you can't help but keep reading. I desperately wanted to read more and know the characters as adults. It's probably not for everyone. It's not a thriller like some of her other books but I just loved it!
I love a good mystery and this is a good one! I usually read Kellerman's Decker/Lazurus series, but thought I would try this simply because I like her writing. It was not a mistake!
After the unsolved murder of his sister, Vicks decides it's up to him to find the killer. With all of his skills, and a few resources, he's challenged at every turn. His biggest challenges high school, peers and the new girl-not only is she pretty, but she's the quarterback's girl.
The case gets hot when she decides to help! But at a cost.
This listing is divided into three books on Goodreads. I read it as a complete book, three sections.
Great ending to this series! I loved that two very smart and dedicated teenagers might be able to track down a serial killer. Of course, it took daring and a bit of illegal research but they could get away with it when the police could not.
Everyone from the first two books shows up, all developing snd growing - just as one would expect over the course of a year.
I hope they will feature in additional stories from Ms. Kellerman! I live here husband’s and son’s books, but she remains my favorite!
After reading all three of these installments I have to say my first impression was right: these books were bad. Really bad. Most of the characters were lame. Ro was a manipulative wench. The sister was nearly as bad. All of the parents were stupid. And who let's teenagers do what they want? Sleep over at each other's houses? Get jobs as cocktail waitresses when under age? Why we're the police so inept? Ugh. Nearly 700 pages of awfulness!
I wanted to like this so much. But it was awful. The writing was as bad as Twilight. The plot more about teen angst than anything else. And what 17 year old uses the word “begrudge”?! Has Kellerman ever talked to a 17 year old?! Unless they’re a 200 year old vampire posing as a teen, she’s way off on her dialogue. There were perhaps 12 pages in 700 devoted to the serial killer (and those were stupid and added no value). The rest was YA trash. Big thumbs down.
So this was the end of the series. It ended well, with everything tied up That was satisfying and was well done. I think that these 3 books will kindle a desire to read more from this author. That's a good thing, because she's very good. I highly recommend her.
Faye Kellerman's stories get my interest right away. I love to read a book that I can't put down. I have read all her books to date and I have enjoyed every last one of them.
I came to like these self aware and in many cases over sexed teens. The bad guy was clever but the kids daring and smart. I liked the book and conclusion!
I really enjoyed this book, my copy of the book has all three parts and my rating is for the whole book, I thought it was good story and I absolutely adored Ben, who was so fixed on finding his sister’s killer and who I kept forgetting was only 17, as he was very mature and clever unfortunately Ro was the opposite so very immature and selfish and even when she was ‘helping’ Ben it was only for what she could get out it, it was always about her. Do teenager really act like JD and Ro did, to me they were not very nice at all and I alway remember what someone once said to me that they may think they were big fish in school but wait until they hit the real world were they will be nothing. It would like another book on Ben maybe while he is at Caltech he could have another murder to solve along with Lily of course
