Since the publication of Fancy Nancy, Jane O'Connor's closet now boasts so many boas, tiaras, and sparkly ensembles that sometimes friends do not recognize her on the street. She still resides (that's a fancy word for lives) in New York City with her family and their canine companion, Arrow. --from the publisher's website
The fact that my reading of the story about Nancy meeting a boy from Paris ended with my husband rolling on the floor with laughter means that I have to give this one 5 stars! I like doing different voices for each character. Story time is a lot of fun in our house!
A friend told me about the genealogy story in this book, and I bought that story on my kindle. It was really more about teaching a lesson on not lying. I didn't enjoy it as much as if it was about the subject I had anticipated. I checked out the whole book, and I loved the book. The illustrations are so much better in the printed version. The stories are short, and would be a good length to read to small children. I loved the story about Fancy Nancy and her friend taking ballet lessons. Fancy Nancy then starts to teach her dad what they have been learning, and then it extended to the rest of the family, which I thought was really sweet. I think this is a lovely book.
Not bad for a Fancy Nancy collection book. My four year old daughter was sad when we read the last story, and she asked if we could read it again and again.
My daughter loved these. The illustrations in these stories are really amazing and colorful. Great stories and I see myself getting more of these in the future.
The girls really love Fancy Nancy. The 'fancy' vocabulary is always a bonus too. Lovely to see big sister reading to little sister now and BOTH attentive.
