Rate this book
Cole Callahan is tall, strong, gorgeous, and charming. A perfect exterior. But inside he's damaged. Carrying a secret. A burden too big to bear.

The Navy sends him on a break to clear his head. Miles away from everything he knows.

But his mind wanders back. To Kandahar. To his missions. To his Navy SEAL brothers.

Until her.

Fate brings Carissa and Cole together. And fate will tear them apart. But can their love bring them back together?

In this small Midwest town everybody knows everything about everybody. Will Cole be able to keep his secret or will Carissa break down his walls and become his trusted ally? His confidant. His lover.

What neither one of them counted on was falling for the other. But that might be just what they need. Each other.

***This is a standalone novel with an HEA. No cliffhangers. Written by a USMC Veteran.***

Alpha with Heart - Great Dialog

Love, love, loved Cole and Carissa's story! I read A LOT of SEAL romance. After awhile the tough guy stereotype mixed with violence and sometimes profanity get repetitive. It's nice to remember that there are still gentle giants out there. Ruff and tough when it's time to protect us, but big teddy bears when the moment calls for it.

Cole's the strong, silent type who now finds himself transitioning back to the civilian world. He's a lovable guy you want to just hug and kiss and roll around with on the couch. And not to fall asleep! He definitely knew how to please Carissa.

Great story. Lots of aww moments, but plenty of steamy scenes too.

Best part for me was the dialog. The conversations kept me turning the pages.

Carissa was a strong female lead dealing with real life issues. Easy to like her and root for her. Glad she got her SEAL!

I also read the author's second book. More of a fast paced thrill ride. I really enjoyed both. Nice to see the diversity in storytelling, especially from the same author. She's not following a template for book after book after book so the reader doesn't know what's going to happen next. Keeps this reader on her toes.

Great job! Keep 'em coming!

A female friend of mine was reading this book and I was teasing her about the cover. She challenged me to read it and I accepted. I'm a voracious reader, but never in my 30+ years have I read a romance book. I'm really surprised how much I enjoyed this story and realize now I may have been missing out on this entire genre.

This book has a really nice community aspect, a wide cast of characters, conflict, and a great story. The author did a really nice job addressing an all too real real life problem that's facing a lot of troops today. (I don't want to spoil it and tell you what that was.)

As a Marine veteran it's important to me to get a story like this right. The author was spot on. She didn't go into a lot of military technical jargon, but I thought that was a plus. In a book like this it would have distracted from the two main character's love story.

It was also nice that I don't remember reading a single swear word. I can assure you there is a lot of cursing in the military. At least there sure was when I served. For someone to be a hero they have to rise above the norm. If the hero would have had a dirty mouth it would have lessened him in my mind. The military is all about discipline and discipline in the choice of words is just as important as physical discipline, mental discipline, or the other kinds of discipline they instill in our service members.

The tone was also one I could easily follow and relate to. Brought back memories.

Overall a great read. I read that the author was also a USMC veteran. Ooh rah! Great job!

Look forward to her next story.

Just finished this book. Really enjoying this new author.

I read for enjoyment and these stories always deliver an enjoyable afternoon and a happy ending.

I like that this is the author's first longer work and it's just as good as the short reads. Especially nice that there's such a positive community aspect, honesty, and no foul language. Even the child characters are strong.

Interested to see if there's a girl for Jax or the SEAL back in California!

INSPIRATIONAL/NAVY SEAL ROMANCE
IT WAS A LOVE STORY BUT BASICALLY A HOW TO MAKE YOUR LIFE AND THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE WAS A LITTLE BIT TOO PREACHY FOR MY TASTE. IT’S NOT A BAD READ BUT IT DID END SORT OF ABRUPTLY IT COULD HAVE BEEN MORE TO IT FOR A STAND ALONE SERIES. THE COVER IS HOT. ;D
