Daniel Faust is probably my favorite urban fantasy series. As expected from Craig Schaefer, Triple World Score is good fun.

This time Daniel and Caitlin are pulling off a heist across three different worlds, trying to steal three copies of a book connected to the Enemy himself. As usual, the book is well paced and full of twists and surprises. Schaefer is very good at coming up with increasingly complicated situations and then finding ways to make them even worse, and there were several moments where I had no idea where things were going.

That said, this isn't one of my favorites in the series. Parts of it felt a little repetitive, and while the heist was fun, it never quite reached the level of some of the series' best ideas.

Still, at this point I know exactly what I'm getting from a Daniel Faust novel: fast pacing, weird magic, plenty of trouble. Triple World Score delivers all of that.

Not a new high point for the series, but still a very enjoyable installment. I'll obviously be back for the next one.

Omg, was this book worth the wait, I was so excited when I saw that it finally came out. it was another good one, just like all of the others, and I loved it. I love Daniela and Caitlin, there were so many good moments between them and somehow they pulled it off again. I really felt for Fleiss in this one, Im really hoping she finds her way back to her mom and sisters at some point in the series. I can't wait for the next one, excited and a little sad that we're getting closer to the end of the series.

I struggled to figure out how to classify this, because I wanted to say it was, "Engaging, without being enjoyable."

But then I realized that was wrong.

"Engaging and enjoyable, but...lacked pizzazz?"

I decided the best way to describe my feelings was to suggest imagining a bag of Doritos, and how the best chips are the ones covered in flavor powder. This book was like those chips that have less powder on them. (In a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos, imagine the ones that are more golden yellow than orange.) They're not the most amazing, but you eat them because they're not horrible, either, and you don't like to waste food.

Which sounds like I disliked the book more than I actually did, but I promise you that I finished the entire bag...er...book.


As for that unclear bit at the end? I think Ms. Fleiss gave the card to Duke and his gang, telling them it was a free pass back to Noir York. Except it was the card that landed them in the middle of the freeway in Nadia's Miami, which means they were hit by oncoming traffic. (Hence the comments about giving Roy and Lucy a little break before Duke, et al. regenerated.

I both know what to expect but also I don't, Daniel's been getting by with his cards, his luck and his sheer bullheadedness. At this point he needs to see this to the end. And I cannot believe there is actually now a planned end to the series! How will that pan out? well a magician never reveals his secrets - though Daniel does keep teaching people new tricks.

NGL I was scared for a hot second with that cough, its always ominous.

Love Daniel Faust!

God, I love this series! Daniel Faust is so much fun to root for and rooting for a demon is great too! I’ve been reading this series since it came out and it’s just so much fun! If you’re a fan of Faust and all his friends, you will love this book. All of Craig Schaefer’s series are awesome but like I said, I love Daniel Faust.
