Rate this book
A charming introduction to gardening for absolute beginners, with simple instructions for plants that anyone can grow - even without a garden. Step-by-step illustrated instructions show children how to grow flowers, herbs and vegetables such as potatoes, lettuce and sunflowers. A wonderful introduction to gardening and where food comes from. With internet links to websites with more gardening tips and ideas via the Usborne Quicklinks website.

Gardening is a great way for children to discover how plants grow — and where food comes from — by growing their own fruit and vegetables. An introduction for absolutely beginners, covering all the basics plus lots of hints, tips and ideas. No garden is required as there are lots of ways to grow plants in pots inside, on windowsills or balconies. Gardening — and particularly growing your own food — has seen a real revival in recent years, with waiting lists for allotments soaring. This is a great way to get the whole family involved, however little space you have. Includes detailed instructions on how to grow herbs, salad leaves, tomatoes, potatoes, succulents, bulbs, beans, pumpkins, sunflowers and lots more - and even how to create your own pond! Also a great introduction to the basic principles of biology, as set out in the National Curriculum.

Perfect for absolute beginners, or a companion book for children. I'm somewhere middle ground on gardening and still picked up a few useful tips.
