Nostalgia combined with a sweet pony story deserves 5 stars!
Alex needs to make money, so he buys a cheap pony that needs a lot of care so he can clean her up and resell her for a profit.
I enjoy reading about horse care, and the relationship between humans and horses is fascinating.

I think that the theme is that you should always tell the truth and that you shouldn't wait last minute to tell the truth, and yes there might be consiquenses but sometimes something good might come out of those consiquenses.

It has been nearly 20 years since I read it but I remember it profoundly. My review probably won't be helpful except that it left an imprint in my soul.

I liked the example of a functional family!!! I liked that Alex lived with his consequences. I liked the example of growth in the characters!

My daughter liked this book. I thought it was alright. It has a similar story line to the other book that we read so was disappointed. My daughter even asked me why both books had a kid wanting a horse and not telling their parents about it. It did give us a great opportunity to talk about keeping secrets from our parents and the importance of always being honest.
