Thank you to everyone who read the book.
Obsession has been a project that was on my mind for a long time before I started writing it.
The characters and the challenges they face resonated with me so much because I have struggled with PTSD and surviving after trauma.
While it is a thriller with action and lots of hot steamy scenes, I wanted the portrayal of
the parallels of the coping mechanisms my main characters have to highlight the things that drive them and affect their choices in the story.
Strong female characters are great, but I wanted to write a story about a woman who was struggling with finding her strength and learns that overcoming her fears is not always how to defeat them.
And an MMC who holds her up and helps her find her feet without judgement or expectations.
I think everyone could use the reminder that we can't always be strong, but we can always find our strength. And not everyone's idea of healing is walking on the right side of wrong.

I loved the feel of this book. It was a fast paced read and combined suspense and the character's individual responses to the events to make a highly entertaining and interesting read.
I think she captured the symptoms and triggers of trauma and living with trauma really well, in a way that wasn't overdone, and I like that the FMC started out struggling with her issues and gradually as the story went on, found the strength to deal with them. Strong female characters are great but getting to read them build themselves back up is entirely different.
I loved all the spice and that it wasn't central to the story, but part of it.
The MMC was yummy. But I think I liked the secondary character better.
For a psych thriller and suspense novel this book was funny. I was laughing at parts the whole way through. The FMC's thought process and sarcasm was so fun to read.
I would definitely recommend this book. But I think more could have been done from the angle of the killer. it would have made it more interesting to read his POV with the rest of it.

Beyond Attraction: Trauma, Legacy, and Healing
When I read this book, I analyzed what was described in it from every angle, and I ended up writing this review after taking some time to reflect.
Now, I have come to the conclusion that it is about much more than just sexual attraction and compatibility; it is about what parents pass down to their children generationally, the choices children make as adults, even when they grew up in a turbulent home, and how one copes with trauma both from childhood and as an adult.
Even though the main characters engage in rather risky sexual behaviors (which, in my view, should be addressed through therapy since these activities do put lives at risk), the book still captures a genuine sexual compatibility, one where you feel comfortable with who you are, within the boundaries where you experience pleasure.

So good!!
Ok, it starts off slow and I was a little bored with the first four chapters. The rest of the book COMPLETELY makes up for that. Its a criminal investigation plus a very risqué romance all in one. I love the main characters. Katie, in the beginning, bothered me because I felt like she was letting her fear get the best of her in every single way. She grew on me with her snarky comments and I enjoyed her quips after that. Caleb was chefs kiss from start to finish. I love that he wasnt perfect or claiming to be. The ending didnt give me the full scope of what I wanted from them but it did leave me satisfied. It is well written and well thought out. A fun read.

One of my favorite aspects was the dialogue. The witty banter between the characters adds humor and personality, creating the perfect balance against the darker, more suspenseful moments. Katie, Caleb, and Liam are all memorable in their own ways, and their interactions make the story feel engaging and authentic.
The romance and suspense are blended seamlessly, with emotional and intense moments that feel earned rather than forced. As the relationship develops and the danger escalates, the stakes become even higher, making it difficult to put the book down.

Obsession: His Devotion Is Lethal by Erica Metcalf is the kind of book that pulls you in from the first chapter and refuses to let go. Caleb Hale and Katie Wilder’s story is packed with suspense, emotional intensity, and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing all the way through.

This book had me saying “just one more chapter” way past the point where I should’ve gone to sleep.
I finished Obsession: His Devotion is Lethal yesterday, and the combination of dark romance, suspense, and murder investigation kept me hooked. Katie Wilder immediately stood out to me because she isn’t simply running from danger—she’s trying to rebuild a sense of normalcy after everything she’s already survived. Her sarcasm, guarded personality, and underlying vulnerability made her feel more layered than the typical heroine in this kind of story.
Then there’s Caleb Hale. He’s intense, protective, and definitely not the kind of man who does anything halfway. I liked the tension between him and Katie, especially because their attraction develops alongside a genuinely dangerous situation. The investigation into the murders of women who resemble Katie added another layer of suspense, and I kept trying to figure out where the killer was going next.
I also enjoyed the small-town atmosphere and the constant feeling that something wasn’t quite right. Just when I thought I had a piece of the puzzle figured out, another detail made me rethink it. The romance and darker elements definitely aren’t for every reader, but for me they worked well with the thriller side of the story.
I’d recommend this to readers who enjoy dark romantic suspense, morally complicated characters, protective heroes, dangerous mysteries, and plenty of tension. If you like your romance with a darker edge and a suspense plot that keeps moving, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a read.

There were so many punctuation errors and misplaced words I was so distracted trying to read this book. "Quotations in" places that did not make any sense, like that. The author said the wrong file might have been uploaded to KU. By this point I was at 80% and there were still errors but much less.
The story itself was okay. I just don't think it was for me. I wanted more background on the 2 main characters. She's traumatized and paranoid and survived but we only get little details about it. I actually thought she survived the serial killer at first and had to go back to chapter one to see that was a different person. And once the MMC background was quickly revealed I found his "hunting" disturbing. Also, her house has so many cameras set up and yet they never see whose leaving flowers? Or destroys her garden? And she's not very bright towards the end. At all. For someone that wants to join the FBI she sure makes really stupid decisions. And I didn't care for the end. I get the reasoning but it was just meh for me.
I like his FBI partner but don't think I'll read that book since it's described taking place during Marti Gras.It's Mardi Gras. And the FMC has the same last name as the FMC from this book. I find that weird because I don't think they are related at all. I think the author needs a new editor. But I do wish her luck!
