Ovid: A Poet on the Margins
The Latin poet Ovid was famously exiled by the Emperor Augustus to the shores of the Black Sea for his self-confessed crimes of 'a poem and a mistake'. Throughout his poetry, he discusses his exile and embraces the themes of marginality and alterity.

fascinating and entertaining study
This glimpse into the world of the Roman poet Ovid is lively and readable, discussing the many questions faced by those reading or studying Ovid. I loved the author’s refusal to commit - a clever echo of Ovid himself! Thoroughly enjoyable and well written.
