Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.
The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help but get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what would they do in that situation?
His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?
Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting voyage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that the lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.
Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it. He also invites you to email him and let him know if you did or did not enjoy the novel. And if you did, what were your favourite parts?
I read the Orlando File a few years ago and loved it. So chose to read another book by Ian CP Irvine. Sleeping Truth has very little oomph in it but I still enjoyed it. Yes, we are warned it's Book One. But it's not Book One of a series. It's HALF a book, so Book One & Book Two should be sold as one. We're enticed to read it as it's a Free download, thereby presuming we'll want to buy book 2 to find out what happens. Is this a good ploy? I'm not so sure, as I delay in purchasing book 2. Writing this review will help me decide!

He bumps into her in the hospital one day whilst visiting Sal. Will he fall in love again?
So the reader is left wondering - does Sal regain consciousness? will Andrew tel Guy about Sal's night out? does Andrew fall in love with his mysterious woman? ?????
The big question is, do I want to know? At the moment, I just don't know!!!

I really enjoyed this book ❤ OMG so many twists and turns poor, Andrew is carrying a lot of weight on them young shoulders , He has Guy the roommate He has Sam Guys girlfriend He has Gail the "Friend" He also has Dianne ( works bike ) lol But now he has Slouvka With Sal in Hospital and so many questions that need answers ...will Andrew be able to move on from these questions or will be give in and ask them ???? I'm gonna have to read book two to find out grrrr Great story !!
An excellent read that flows well and has a very unusual storyline. I felt that I could very easily be reading a story about friends I know well. There is a good variety of characters and they are very real. My only objection is the abrupt cliff hanger ending. I am simply not a fan of them. The writing however is excellent and I hope to read Book 2.
I have never read a book by this author or of this type. Was really surprised that I enjoyed it. Didn't quite get to finish book two as my unlimited kindle expired but was still enjoying it. Loved the twist and turn
Although I liked some of this author's books much better, it was still a decent read! I found myself, at times, just wanting to finish the story. His suspense novels are better in my opinion!
Written well. But second book 2.99$ free only for kindle unlimited which is not fair. If you can afford unlimited you don't have to pay for the continuing story, if your poor you do. Silly. Not able to read the ending because we can't spend 120$ for kindle unlimited.
Andrew moves from Edinburgh to London to escape his cheating now ex- girlfriend Kate. He moves in with old friend Guy and in Guy's girlfriend Sal starts to see that women can be a great "thing". That is, until he sees Sal getting too intimate with another man. Should he tell Guy? Confront Sal and give her an ultimatum? Before he can do either, London is hit by a major terrorist attack and Sal is badly injured, possibly brain damaged, and in a coma. As he takes his turn by her bedside, Andrew has his own problems to work through: whether or not to try to talk to the mother that walked out on the family when he was young, thus causing his mistrust in women; whether and how to end the casual sex with Dianne or how to get her to stop blabbing to the whole office every time they sleep together; whether he can just be friends with Gail; how to get to know the mystery blonde he keeps seeing on the train.
Andrew leaves his home in Edinburgh to stay with an old friend Guy in London. He is fleeing from a relationship where his girlfriend betrayed him. Having managed to get a transfer to the London office of his Edinburgh job, he is finished with relationships for the time being. Guy has a girlfriend called Sal and a short time after Andrew arrives in London there is a terrorist attack on the London underground and Sal is severely injured. I enjoyed this story but when I ordered it to be delivered to my kindle I did not realise that it came in two parts so it has just suddenly stopped in the middle of all the action.
One ofmy favourite writers commences, in book one, another of his mesmerising and gripping suspenseful drama stories. Book one is tittilating and ensures that you want to, and indeed need to, follow up with the other books in this series. Based in London following the 2005 bombings , it follows the life of the main character through love, loss, deceit and anxiety. A must read
This book is a betrayal to all people who love to read. The book is concluded in a SECOND book which the reader must buy. An unspoken rule that the author will provide a conclusion, no matter how poorly written, is a the undeniable contract between the author and buyer of a book. Shame on you for deceiving the readers of this book.
This book has an interesting storyline, which is the only reason I kept reading it. The editing is atrocious, and the use of apostrophes appalling. (eg, the German's Blitz of London - which German I wonder? Does he mean Hitler, or Goering?) But the story has enough appeal to make me want to find out what happens next.
After moving to London and living with an old friend, terrorists strike and there is death and destruction on the subway. How does this affect his friend, who's girlfriend was on one of the trains and is severly injured? Will he ever find the blonde who he sees frequently on his ride to work? And more...... Warning. This book has a sequel.... I enjoyed reading this.
Too painfully slow. like many other slow book series where hardly anything happens and it takes forever to find out anything or for anything to happen. Going by some of the good ratings, there are obviously people in the world who like that kind of thing
Another gripping story by this author. It draws you in very quickly to Andrews complicated life and loves. The characters are real, the r motions flow, I couldn't put it down. Straight into book two!
I can’t wait to read what happens next. Will Sal die? What about Guy the good guy? Will Andrew befriend Slávka, a beautiful doctor from Slovakia? Thank you Irvine for the plot and twists which I believe will result into an explosion of love and forgiveness.
This book is so hard to put down, its easy y To take in, Andrew, moved to london, after his world is shattered when Kate his girlfriend has an affair, so staying with his best mate Guy, he finds out what london is all about
I read the “Prologue” and first few sentences of this piece of dreck and can NOT make myself read the whole thing. I quit right away. This book — in my opinion — STINKS.
