A vision of disaster has Edna Campbell sending her niece, Maggie MacKinnon, a fledgling witch, back in time to sixteenth century Scotland in an attempt to save the MacKenzie clan and to face a mirror image of herself in the form of an evil witch named Brielle.Disguised as a young lad and accompanied by her Uncle Angus, Maggie must prevail in this life and death chess match of witch versus witch. There is much at stake, including the fate of her budding relationship with Dylan Sinclair, her future as a witch and the very existence of the bridge through time.Dylan Sinclair is on the adventure of a lifetime, having travelled back in time to Medieval Scotland. Handsome and charming, he is a magnet for women, but the only one he’s interested in is back in twenty first century Glendaloch, or so he thinks. Brielle, disguised as Maggie, arrives at Breaghacraig, much to Dylan’s surprise and confusion, as he realizes she is very different from the girl he thought he was falling in love with. Not one to give up on his first chance at real love, Dylan sets about trying to solve the puzzle that Maggie has become.
Separated by Time is the third novel of the Thistle & Hive Series. Nevertheless, it can be read as a standalone. However, I recommend that it is read after the first two books in order to avoid confusion since the author mentions some situation and characters from previous books. I must admit I am not a fan of time travel but I do love highlander romances so I found that, to some point, I enjoyed the sweet romance between Maggie, a witch in training, and Dylan, a highlander boy from the past. Maggie is quite a sweet character and, for some reason, I couldn’t help but feel that she has this strange aura of innocence. I couldn’t help but picture her as a naïve high school girl even though she was going through some sort of witch training to defeat a dangerous sorceress that was trying to do mischief while posing as her. I kind of admire her determination but there were moments when I highly disagreed with her choices. We will see what you think about her I actually liked the author’s writing skills because the story wasn’t too descriptive but it gave you enough details so that you could imagine the atmosphere that surrounded the characters and even the characters themselves. I must confess, I loved how the highlander’s territory was portrayed but I also felt that some hints about the villain and the way the story was going to progress were a little too obvious from the very beginning. Therefore, I do believe that would distract you a little bit because you are already expecting someone to confront the villain instead of suspecting little by little. I seriously wanted to shout at some characters for being so naïve and clueless. That aside, the plot followed a good pace even though when it was a little but slow at times. I highly recommend this novel to any highlander and/or time travel lovers that enjoy a sweet romance, some drama mixed with fantasy and a touch of action. The whole package, right? 3 fangs

Recently discovered this author and in less than a week I’ve just finished book three. I find her writing style easy and enjoyable to read. The characters are well written and for the most part good people. As with every story you must have your villain.
In this book Maggie Dylan and the evil with Brielle are our main characters. Maggie’s turns out to be a great witch and saves the day.
Looking forward to the next book, to meet new characters, and hopefully find more things about the characters introduced in books one and two.
If you like time travel books you really should try this series!
Received this ARC from the author through Digital Publishing.
The story is fine, although somewhat shallow character development. It is somewhat difficult to describe how to indicate that I hoped for more.
Initially I was thinking it might be geared towards younger readers, but the bedroom scenes were (in my older person's mind) just a bit too descriptive for the preteen reader. I realize I might be wrong, so that can be determined by others.
Another thoroughly enjoyable book. The best I have read in a long time that holds you from page 1 until sadly the last page. But happily there's a book four and five. I will keep this authors name so I can search out anything else she has written. Her characters are so interesting and everything flows smoothly through time.
This was a sweet story and I enjoyed it verra much. I liked the first two better though, and I've already read books 5 and 6. I'm now reading book 4 and I want to say that I think this is an awesome series and I hope there is a book 7!
Jennae Vale will be one of my favorite authors. This third book was as enjoyable as her first two. Differently for mature readers due to romance scenes. Now onto her forth.....
Unfortunately I didn’t read the first two books and I felt a little confused sometimes. So I suggest that before you read Separated by Time that you should read the other books first. I really enjoyed the book despite the fact that I was confused sometimes though and that is a good thing!
The characters are likeable and they seem like people that you could be friends with. I love it when the characters feel real, it just helps me get into the story more.
Overall, it was a good read and I was disappointed when I got to the end. I am looking forward to future works from Jennae Vale.
*I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.*
Quirky!! I got this book in a book set called Echo's of Destiny!! I like the witches dual!! It was awesome! Dylan was a good guy but so clueless!! Maggie grew up right in front of your eyes! Uncle Angus was wonderful!! gotta love him!! Edna well I had mixed feelings for her!!! I can't wait to read the other books that goes with this one to get to know the others better!!!
This series just keeps getting better. Wonderfully animated characters, intriguing plots makes this a true feel good read. They stand alone yet I find they play off one another to enhance the story. If you enjoy time travel stories with a bit of magic then your a sure to enjoy this book.
I've read this book when it first came out and I just had to read it again. I love the adventures of the folks from Thistle and Hive. Dylan and Maggie met again in the sixteenth century but something was off with Maggie and Dylan was determined to figure it out. great story.
An enjoyable read. Loved how the bridge worked both ways.. Sweet, with just enough romance to be intriguing, but not raunchy. A good story about witches. Easily believable with great characters. Enjoy!
This is really good. I enjoyed the interactions between the two, considering one was suppose to be dressed as a man, um yeah; Maggie. Of course Dylan is so confused, he doesn't understand why he is all of a sudden attracted to this(man). He is really concerned. But this book is not about that right?? It is about lies, deceit, witches, and coming together.
