About the author

Brad Dennison

Brad was born in rural New England and grew up reading Louis L'Amour, Luke Short, A.B Guthrie, Jr., and even Edgar Rice Burroughs. He knew at 14 he wanted to write for a living, and refused to give up the goal even when the odds seemed overwhelmingly against it. Now, thanks to Amazon, his stories are now available. He is a member of the Western Writers of America

Brad fell in love with the Old West at a very young age. It began with movies and old TV series like GUNSMOKE and BONANZA, and later expanded to western novels. This led to his study of western history. The pioneers, the Indians, the cattlemen, the gunfighters. His interest in history is not so much about wars and great leaders, but the people who lived on the land. And that's what he writes about. The people. He doesn't write about the old west as much as he writes about what it might have felt like to be there.

He loves contact from readers. He can be reached by email at mccabewesterns@gmail.com if you want to discuss his stories, or even just the American West in general.

RIDING WITH THE MCCABE MEN

All anyone can say, don't mess with The McCabes. You mess with and all your doing is swatting a hornets nest.
This adventure defines this in all situations. Family is very important and they all stand together regardless of the ugliness they may be facing.
The author explains the different aspects of life in west. He also describes the difference between Texan ways and California ways, you know, the difference in the style of spurs they wore, that goes for the type of hats they wore. Some of the western cowmen wore somberos such as the vacqueros of Mexico.
Another great McCabe Family adventure...ride easy everyone....

This is not my favorite of the series. There are lots of things that happened between the last book, BOOM TOWN, and this one. This book is about the TRAIL DRIVE and all the incidents that happen along the way. Some of those incidents do not portray the characters' habits correctly, but we all make mistakes in life, so it's possible. New characters are brought in. Really just a continuation of the McCabe story.

Dangerous Drive

I enjoyed this book as it showed, ore elements of the McCabe family. Why Charles had to do what he did to feel he could deserve Bree. Ginny remains the heart of the family! I would recommend this to anyone who loves Westerns, still reminds me of the Sackett novels by Louis L'Amour.

Brad is just fun to read. A story teller extraordinaire. Full of fun natural folks blend with some folks you hope never existed. I am planning on reading the rest of his books in the days to come. This book was number six.

The making of "Charles"

love following a family saga. This book was packed with enough drama and excitement for 3 books. These are very likeable characters. I can't wait to see where the story takes each one.

Great read!

And the McCabes (expanding with delightful addons) keep drinking their coffee and wearing their holsters low. A copy editor could find some work in this volume. Maybe a job for Zack's Crystal?

Excellent Book/Series

This book continues an excellent series. and maintains the story as well as the previous 4. It's good enough that I can overlook the obvious lack of proofreading. There are enough errors to be irritating but ignored.

Challenges galore

The McGabes continue to live the good life and face life’s challenges in the McGabe style. This book is an excellent guide to daily living and meeting life head-on. It applies to Takayuki as well.
A terrific novel. I recommend it!

better and better

This is another excellent story about the west and the type of men it took to build this country. Mr. Denison has a way with words and he writes a story which takes awhile to read. Full of action and suspense. I can’t wait to read the next one.

always the best

I am in my 70s, have read 1000s of books, but never read any westerns. I don’t know what made me buy the first book in the series and fell in love with it. This has to be my all time favorite book series, even over my beloved Travis McGee books. *grins*

Enjoyed!

I read for pleasure and relaxation, not to write reviews. I feel reviews should be left to recognized critics and that the star rating system should be sufficient for most readers.

Guns, Wind and Fire ( The McCabes Survive 5 )

Just when you think nothing else could happen to Johnny McCabe and his Clan. Low and behold Brad Dennison comes up with something new that will knock your gun belt off. It is amazing how this author's mind works. He's running stories within stories and brings each character life. That makes them jump off the pages at you. I still think that the McCabes could be a series. At the very least a mini-series.

Good stories but

I've been reading and enjoying, very much, this series . However, there are lots of punctuation errors as well as grammatical which, to me, ruin the flow of the book. The first few books even had made-up words, or very badly spelled, ie "lied in bed". This occurred quite often, also sentence's with missing words. This has been getting somewhat better and, I really do enjoy these books.
As soon as I finish one I start another. If you like a good western , read these, you'll be happy you did.

This is another suspense book about the McCabe family. It continues with a family I have enjoyed. Always seeking a lost family member, then spinning a tale of suspense and loyalty around that individual

Great trail drive

With the stories you read about trail drives plus movies available it was totally believable and exciting. These cowboys really had to work for their small pay. What a great story. Can't wait to read the next one in series n continue this adventure
