The sweet, "aww"-inspiring tale of school life continues!!

By all appearances, Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura are worlds apart. Bright and capable, Hori is always surrounded by classmates, the center of attention. For Miyamura, a quirky loner, getting through class unnoticed counts as a good day. But ever since these two started sharing secrets, they've found themselves drawn into each other's orbit little by little and the distance between them shrinking bit by bit...

Why you should read this manga:

- BELIVABLE AND NOT RUSHED ROMANCE

- Bro-romance between love rivals

- No jealousy or backstabbing between friends

- STRONG FRIENDSHIP!!!

- Well delivered comedy and good artwork

- Cute younger brother/Family bonds

- Compelling characters

- No over-the-top moments or strange misunderstandings (at least so far)

- Slow burn and realistic romance

- It's a really good slice of life romcom
“There is a distance between us but he is always there when I need him”

Aww the romance aspect of this manga is awesome.

Best Part of This Volume: The bro-romance between Toru and Miyamura <3 <3

I like the "rivals" Toru and Miyamura in this story mainly because they don't hate each other just because of Hori. Nor will they fight for her. (Although they did fight OVER the topic of her -which was funny because it was an accident and they both felt so bad after the fight. BOYS. Hehe.). Those guys are friends, and I just like how it's different from most shoujos. (or shounens for that matter lol).

Bonus: Somebody | Horimiya MV (No big spoilers. It's just a very brilliant video that shows the mood of the manga, how great artwork and the relationship between Hori and Miyamura is. I thought it suited this volume and the manga in general when I watched it ;D)

This was wonderfully cute and emotional. I enjoyed this volume more than the previous one as we gained a deeper insight into Miyamura’s backstory. I adore Miyamura soooo much and I was definitely more connected to him. Hori-san is still super cute and juggling her very different school and home life and Souta is SO cute!

A lovely slice of life manga that I recommend to lovers of Ichigo Takano’s work!

I like that this isnt a rushed romance type story and that you can see the relationships(whether romantic or friendship) progress.

More cuteness and more fluff in this second instalment of the manga series. Finally inching towards the protagonists' potential relationship, the romantic tension was really nicely played out. The pacing was expertly done and didn't feel rushed at all.

The introduction of more character backgrounds and more characters worked perfectly to broaden the storyline but also deepen the connections. It paved the way for even greater exploration in Horimiya, Vol. 3...

Horimiya Vol. 2 was an amazing addition to the Horimya shoujo manga series.

Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura couldn't be more different. She's bright and cheery while he's dark and gloomy. But after an unexpected encounter outside of school, the unlikely pair find themselves becoming friends. As the two spend more time together, they find themselves drawn more and more into each other's worlds.

This manga is a lot of fun and I enjoyed this volume just as much as the first one. The humor in this series is great and I find myself laughing to myself quite a bit while reading. The friendships in this series are fantastic and I love how developed all of them as opposed to just the main one being well done as I've seen in some other series. I particularly enjoy Miyamura and Tooru's friendship. This volume focuses a bit more on Miyamura's background and how he developed the dark and gloomy persona he puts on at school. I liked getting to learn more about him as his background was quite interesting. We see hints of the eventual romance that will develop between Hori and Miyamura which was fantastic. I really like the friendship they have, so I'm interested to see how it changes as their relationship becomes more romantic.

Overall Horimiya Vol. 2 was a fantastic read and I'm looking forward to picking up the next volume soon.

Original Review June 2016:
This manga series is so much fun! I loved this volume even more than the first one! This actually had me laughing out loud in some parts, which is rare for a book. I can't recommend this enough if you're looking for something cute and fun to read. I need all the volumes now!

I liked volume 2 more than the first volume! Miyamura got some extra attention and we got to see some of his flashbacks in which he is an adorable little kid! 😍 I also liked the addition of new characters and the little bit of blossoming romance perhaps?? 😊

I'M SO HAPPY THAT THEY WERE ALL IN THE SAME CLASS!!! I HOPE FRIENDSHIP WILL BLOOM AND THEY'LL FORM AND UNBREAKABLE BOND. Tooru is an amazing friend! Despite liking Hori he's still cheering Miyamura on to become a couple with Hori. He knows that they both like each other but won't admit it to each other. I hope they admit their feelings for each other already. They complement each other so much.

All right! It didn't take long at all for me to understand what others see in this story. The characters weren't given any more depth in this volume, by my reckoning, but the situations are just that tiny bit more intense and affecting. Starting off with a higher level of emotion might have felt like the author was trying to yank on the heartstrings too early to feel justifiable. I wonder how many people, like myself, would have read the first book and decided to shrug it off, if an anime license hadn't been there as an additional enticement.

A couple of things felt cheap: Hori's dream that directly reflected her current situation, and the explanation for Miyamoto's piercings and/or tattoos (someone can enjoy those things without pathology or trauma as a motivator). On the good side, I loved the scene on the roof between Miyamoto and Ishikawa, even if it didn't go anywhere in the long run.
"It's okay."

I wish I could say that to myself ten years ago.
I like how Hori and Miyamoto have each other's backs, each in their own way. Also how they are starting to like each other romantically, but are reluctant to be open about it because they're attached to their hanging-out friendship and don't want to jeopardize it. That's my interpretation, anyhow.

Second time reading it in 2018: 1 star
I'm DNFing this in the middle of chapter 10. I understand that this is a character-based piece, but there isn't much introduction to any of the characters, much less development. The author(s?) didn't make me care about anyone or anything going on, plus there's no plot. There's a lot of telling without any showing, which is especially strange for a visual medium. I was reading this because a friend asked me to, but I am too bored to continue.

Besides obviously loving the whole "they're in love with each other, but they're the only ones who don't realise it" thing that's going here, I'm also loving the intense bromance between Miyamura and Tooru, I mean I'm living for their scenes together, and "strengthening their friendship bonds on the roof" any time!

More of the same, but it is cute, and I like that.

What makes this series is the calm and nice feeling of being this couple who is almost family like. To have the two leads care for the little brother works real well. Some really cute moments. On top of that the art remains great. I liked that we actually got some hitting and punching here, too many love stories and not enough fighting in them! Also the art is great. While nothing amazing the rom-com works well for here and excited to see the two finally start dating soon.

I binge-read all the available manga (in English) in one weekend. This book is focused on Hori and Miyamura, even though other characters do show up with their own side storylines. I love seeing the development of Hori and Miyamura’s relationship with each other and with their friends.

To be honest I don’t really like hori that much I don’t think. Certain things she does just tick me off. HOWEVER. I really loved the way miyamura and ishikawa’s developed in this volume and how you could tell how valuable they found each other aaaand even in the “conflict” you can again that they deeply care about each other :D I thought it was very sweet and I love ishikawa a lot!!!! I also really liked the scenes with miyamura and horis brother! that kid is so sweet. I especially enjoyed when he saw miyamura had more tattoos :].
I think this was a rlly solid second volume and I’m EXCITED to see more especially from the side characters (fingers crossed)
