Fedegraphica: A Graphic Biography of the Genius of Roger Federer

Rate this book
Universally recognised as the greatest tennis player of all time, and maybe even the greatest athlete, Roger Federer is one of sport's most iconic and popular figures and is adored by millions around the world.

In this graphic biography like no other, his genius and astonishing records — no man has won more majors, or spent more weeks as the world number one — are explored and celebrated with beautiful infographics analysing his serving patterns, the speed of his shots, the spin he generates, his movement, as well as his performance in high-pressure situations such as tiebreaks and Grand Slam finals.

Drawing on interviews with Federer and those close to him, this is the story of how a young hothead from Basel transformed himself into a calm and poised athlete who came to dominate tennis. And who, while deep in his thirties, has continued to seek improvements, to challenge men many years younger than him and to contend for the sport's biggest prizes. The sheer brilliance of Roger Federer is revealed through illuminating infographics of his game alongside stunning photography, stories and analysis from those who have played, watched and admired him that will give you a new appreciation of his greatness and how his tennis has moved so many people.

I loved this blend of biography and infographics. I am #TeamRafa all the way but I enjoyed learning about the human side of the Swiss automaton. I have a whole new respect for Roger's level of awesome now!

As a fan of the Fed-Express I really enjoyed this book, especially the illustrations used to show stats about Roger's game throughout the years.

There was also a lot of great photos and background info on Roger's rise from his small tennis club in Switzerland to winning 20 Grand Slam titles.

A must-read for Fed fans!

Tons of interesting graphics summarizing various stats in Federer's vs. other players' play. The text (focusing on expectations, rivalries, interpersonal relationships, etc.) only very loosely refers to the figures, so you have to decide when to look at the on your own, and then make sense of them on your own too. With photographs it is even worse. They are not titled/captioned at all, so it's a puzzle for you to solve when and where it was taken and if it has anything to do with the text. Still, an interesting read.

This is genius matched with the genius of Federer. I read ("The Master") a couple of month earlier, and was in doubt about this book being repetitive. And I was mistaken. Yes, there was some in common (it's eventually a biography.) However, This one is revolved much around the game and technique of Federer. It's entertaining and beautifully flowing. The graphs are stunning to say the least. It includes more analytical view to the man's game, so it might irritate those who aren't in depth with tennis. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Beautiful pictures and very attractive graphics. It very well describes the background of Roger's huge popularity and success. Some of the stats could be improved, most importantly providing some match scores. Also it would be great to attach as an appendix with scores of at least grand slam matches. Other than that, it is an amazing book worth every penny!

Bought this for a friend who is obsessed with Fed and I couldn't put it down. Intriguing narrative that explores his early genius, rise to dominance and universal adoration. Includes stunning photos and eye-popping infographics (analyzing his serving patterns, speed of shots, spin he generates, wins vs. rivals) that help put the man's astonishing records in perspective.

A combination of Roger Federer career recap, analytical comparisons with fellow tennis greats, & technique breakdown, all in one.

Half the book is very colorful infographics, easy to digest and right to the point. The other half is text going through Federer’s career, his best grand slam wins and how he stacks up against the greatest of all time.

It's a good book providing a statistical analysis of Roger Federer's game over the years. Would have loved to have some more content on Roger-Rafa rivalry and Roger-Novak rivalry and how Federer adapted him game to combat the two younger competitors.

Nice book that talks about Federer's achievements during his peak years. The stats and comparison with other tennis legends were really nicely done. A good book to read on your holidays. It will be a treat for RF fans:)

A fun mix of biography, photography, infographic, and hagiography.
Just what I wanted when savoring 18 and hoping for 19 (later that same season).
