I'm sorry, what? This is NOT a book about Rapture, as there was many wrong facts within this. Why would Eleanor return to Rapture? She would have no reason to, Tenenbaum returns but that is out of guilt. Another thing that bothered me. Technical issues when flying or floating over the city? What? The plane crashed in the first game because of Jack, not technical issues. Where did all of the splicers go? Splicers are not "mutants", they became addicted to ADAM which lead to tumor-like growth. Vigors were also in Columbia, Plasmids were in Rapture.
I was so frustrated by this short story because I know the author is capable of so much more! I thought Rapture: The Big Daddy was creative and showed how people succeeded in Rapture. In this book this was not the Rapture that we know and love, but a perversion of the city. You may argue that this is a parallel Rapture in one of Elizabeth's tears but it was presented like it was canon. The characters were all one-dimensional (unlike the other short story) and was very disappointing. I appreciated the new way of thinking about Rapture being Genesis but Eleanor would not repeat what her mother did. (Unless you were going for the evil ending of the 2nd game?) Even then she would not be interested in the one underwater city, she would have taken to the surface with her community of Splicers.
I do not discourage your writing because I would love to read more by you, but PLEASE fact check! I could follow Arthur Winter as he explored Rapture, but Roosevelt just took everything at face value.
Shockingly bad. I enjoyed the other Brubaker BioShock book, but this one was full of errors and made little sense. For such a short novella, it feels very rushed. One paragraph will contradict the next. Even for a hardcore BioShock fan, this is a "do not read"...
Really enjoyed Sanctuary and the big Daddy by Dustin. Genesis had a fresh feel to it promising a new rapture experience. I don't know whether my bias opinion of Eleanor and what she stood for in bioshock 2 made this story harder to swallow...her motives are lacking and her reasonings odd. Why go back to genesis (rapture) after going through so much pain and torment to get out?
I can only assume Dustin's position on genesis stems from the and evil ending to BS2.
Not my favourite of the series but still worth a read

I went into this expecting in to be another fanfiction set in the world of Bioshock, as the other two short stories in the series were, but it had even less to do with the setting than the first two. The plot made very little sense, changed left and right, and failed to do what even the first two faired better at, which was capitalizing on such an interesting backdrop to at least put a shallow story in.
I gave BioShock rapture welcome to genesis four stars because I love the little story it had to it I mean I love the BioShock games and since the end of the final mind blowing game I'm still in shock that even this mini story can capture its flair for storytelling one I like how everyone who first goes to rapture assumes its the wonder land of a place without laws and government and political or religious beliefs that if you work hard you'll get justly rewarded for it but there dead wrong I like how the main character stayed in the sense of his own ideas after meeting the women who started turning the residents into monsters he fought her knowing her beliefs in helping them was wrong and how even after she looked like she was going to win she loss in the end now the loss of the star was because it was to short I know it was only meant to be a short story but I love BioShock and I want to read longer books I recommended to all fans and newcomers I can only ask what kind of story do you get when a madman wants to build a world under the water because this is it right here
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
The first thing I realised was that the writing is simple. A middls schooler could read it with ease. I could forgive this, however, and kept reading. This takes place years after the second BioShock game and Rapture has become a completely new and unbe!ievable place. Litteraly unbelievable. Unrealistic. I hoped the endind would make up for this, it did not. Terrible ending. Also, why are the citizens using vigors!?. That's BioShock infinite! Not BioShock rapture.
A very interesting, yet different side story about what could have happened to the lost city of Rapture that was established in the videogame Bioshock. Definitely read this if your a fan of the videogame series or like different dystopian city novels.
It was a quick read, but it was interesting. There were a few typos but it was easy to understand what the book meant. Gave it three stars because it was a good story, but it felt a bit too quick and could of had more development in the stories and characters.
