The beauty of summer/early fall nights resides somewhere between calm and chaotic. Because they can be either. And that's why we love them so much. Summer/early fall nights are shifters, adjusters, influencers, and the pioneers of pivoting.

Whether you're in for the night or only inside to prepare for a night outside, the possibilities are endless. Summer/early fall nights supply us with uncertainty that doesn't overwhelm us. Instead, it brings us comfort.

And, in that comfort... that calm... is where I found him... where I found love... where I found Saul.

Summer Love

3.5 Stars
This was a calm, sweet read for the majority of the book. I loved the angst, the anticipation, the tension as the love built. I was in love with Saul easily on the first damn date. I mean too easy😫.
I love a man that knows exactly what he wants, doesn't hesitate to make space for you, and ensures that you are his priority. He was just so deeply intentional. He understood Summer. She was quiet, introverted, had a lingering sadness, and was beautiful through it all. He adapted to her and literally met her where she was at. She was a lover of words and not only did he speak them, but he wrote them, and he acted on them. He fell for her hard, damn near immediately and I loved that for them. As per usual with Grey, their love story was loud and strong.

The story surrounding them was okay, but I didn't love it. I honestly would have been okay if it was just an easy sweet read. I know the conflict is meant to engage the reader and complete the arc of the story, but I just didn't need it. Especially since they were not accepting any reasons why...then why bring it up?

Overall, it's a good read. Signature Grey with a swoon worthy with Mmc, an ultra feminine Fmc, and Big love that's calm but loud at the same time. I also love that the blackness was showcased so well.. our language, our music, our books. In the way Summer accessorized and the crisp lineup for Saul. Just yes 🤎✊🏾

P.S. I absolutely LOVE the cover it is stunning and is pictured in the book.

A sweet & gentle love story with a twist that had my jaw on the floor!!!

- Saul & Summer gave me country black royalty vibes by the way they spoke and acted and I loved it. Saul was a dream man and I loved the way he pursued Summer & how he didn’t let her run away. Summer was such a sweetheart and I adored her.
- that plot twist was so out of left field I was shook and idk if it was needed in this read!

Saul had me in a CHOKEHOLD. 😮‍💨 Because baby… interested men act interested. And Saul understood the assignment!

This man was intentional from the jump, made his feelings known, and the way he protected Summer at ALL costs? 🥹 Yeah, I was sold. No games, no confusion, just “that’s my woman, and I’m going to make sure she’s good.”

And that plot twist?! 👀 I did NOT see that coming. I love when a book manages to surprise me, and Grey Huffington definitely got me with that one.

I absolutely ate this up. Saul was EVERYTHING, and I’m not accepting arguments at this time. Be My Summer was a whole vibe, and these 5 stars are well deserved!

🌶️🌶️🌶️ Saul did not play about Summer and he made his intentions known from jump, and I love that for her. After all the grief and loss and rejection that summer has experienced in her life she definitely deserve to be loved unapologetically and out loud from day one. Summer never had to question Saul’s intention or his desire to keep her safe and always. Saul’s cut off game was immaculate and I loved it. This was a sweet romantic Novella. I would definitely recommend.

Very cute, loved me some Saul. I didn’t really like the ending though. It was just too much at once and I think it needed to be spread out. It also just felt a litttttttle too unrealistic 😳 cute though!

Mmm 3/5 🌶️ it was straight

Beautiful! The way grey writes her men just does it for me! They are so intentional in the way they love on the women they are with and I love it real bad. Saul and Summer just connected and once they locked in wasn’t no letting up at all.

Fall has arrived, painting the world in beautiful earth tones around a beautiful young woman named Summer. Her connection to the season gave me so many emotions in this short time with her.
• It's Grey so it reads very poetic.
• It's Grey and of course he falls first
• The story...the plot. Shocked me. I can't give it away.
Let me know if you read this one and what you think about what was revealed. Because...

This book started out as such a cute insta-love romance, and I honestly thought I knew exactly where the story was going…until about 80% in! 👀 The plot took a twist that had my emotions ALL over the place!
FMC Summer has always carried the pain of her mother leaving her as a baby. Her mom eventually changed her name and disappeared, leaving Summer to grow up as a true daddy’s girl. Meanwhile, MMC Saul lost his mother at birth but was “blessed” with a stepmother who loved and raised him as if he were her own. ❤️
Saul was probably my favorite part of this book. He was patient, genuine, and intentional with Summer, and I absolutely loved the way he handled her. He is definitely giving BOOK BOYFRIEND MATERIAL! 🥰
I went into this book completely blind, and I think that made the twists hit even harder. There were definitely moments that had me in my feelings!
⚠️ Please check the trigger warnings before reading, especially if you’re easily triggered by certain topics.
Overall, this was a sweet romance that surprised me and delivered an emotional twist I wasn't expecting! 💕

“Time waited for no one and nothing. Not even love.”

I feel like I should really highlight how honored I am to have read this. From Summer and Saul’s first meeting to the epilogue chapter their love story was so beautiful. Saul meeting Summer in the park was one of the best first meeting/meet-cutes I’ve ever read. It was genuinely so wholesome. I would’ve never guessed how amazing their love story would come to be from the first chapter alone.

Saul made it his mission for Summer to understand that he wanted every part of her. Not just the good sides but the somewhat bad ones as well. Being able to be honest with those around you and still having them love parts of you is something I hope everyone gets to find in life.

These two are soulmates in every aspect of the word and I wish they were real people so I could find and hug them. Reading this book's plot-twist felt like a major slap to the face but I’m happy Summer got her last laugh in the best possible way. This could’ve been 600 pages and I would’ve enjoyed every single moment of it. (Let me go find a man that will always make sure I have tulips!!)

I won’t lie, this book took me a minute to get into. I think I had to adjust to the way Grey writes. Some lines, especially in the beginning threw me off—like eyelids connecting or her head rising and falling. It took me out of the story every time. Something, however, pushed me to continue. Maybe it’s all the praise I hear about Grey’s books but I wanted to stick it out. I’m glad I did.

Over time the writing settled and felt a lot less extra. I was able to stay in the story and what a sweet love story it was. Saul knew what he wanted from the moment he saw Summer and he never wavered.

One thing I really loved was the fact that even though this book was shorter (about 150-ish pages), you felt like you spent a lifetime with these two characters. You got to witness them go on dates and get to know each other. You basically witnessed the honeymoon phase of dating, though I will say it never ended for them. 🤭

Now Summer’s mama? Trifling. Her ending was well deserved.

Now I’ll be left to figure out what book from Grey I might dive into next.

Be my Summer

Summer and Saul gave me all the feels. Their love was easy and effortless and organic and pure. They kept me smiling throughout from enjoying their connection and chemistry. Their paths crossed at a time when Summer needed him and I loved that for her. With Saul around, Summer was able to live outside of her grief and experience a love like no other.

This story was pretty much drama free but when the drama did come, it was rushed through quickly and the only thing I appreciated about that was Summer getting to speak her peace to the one who had hurt her the most. The plot twist immediately had me thinking ikyfl and I was left wanting that twist explored more including mentioning the secrets that were discovered as a result. Those missing details would be my only complaint with this story, but overall I enjoyed this one from beginning to end. It was a light, quick and feel good read for majority of the story.

Divine Timing

Saul spent a beautiful day in Summer. The way they met was just chef’s kiss. It was beautiful, cute, and pure. He didn’t come on too strong, but he was direct, intentional, and knew exactly what he wanted.

The chemistry between them was undeniable, and their connection felt almost poetic, like divine intervention. She was carrying so much that summer, dealing with the trauma of an absent mother, watching the only parent that was there become sick and so rapidly was heart clenching.

Then here comes this man who just wants to ease some of that burden and give her a soft place to land. Watching their relationship unfold was heartwarming and refreshing. It’s always a great time reading this author.

Okayyyy… I just finished Be My Summer by Grey Huffington and I'm feeling all the feels 😭❤️

This book completely captivated me. Saul and Summer were EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING!!!!! Their chemistry? Their connection? The emotions?! I was ALL IN.

And Saul… LORD. 😩🔥
Saul is every woman’s dream and then some. The way he loved, showed up, and made Summer feel seen? Whew. That man set the bar somewhere in the stratosphere because WHAT WAS THAT?! 😂

But beyond the romance, this story really hit me because it is such a powerful reminder that time is of the essence. We always assume there will be another conversation, another chance, another tomorrow… but what happens when there isn’t?

This book made me laugh, swoon, hurt, smile, and sit there staring at the page like, “Grey… WHY would you do this to me?!” 😭

Grey Huffington, you absolutely did your thing with this one! 👑👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

If you love a romance with chemistry, emotional depth, unforgettable characters, and a story that reminds you to cherish the time you have, put this one on your TBR.

5 stars. Chef's 💋. No debate. Just READ IT. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Slow, short,sweet meaningful

This is my first read from this author! And I must say that this read was written like a poem with great description, but not a ton of words? It made you feel and think as if you were truly in the story when summer‘s dead whispered to saw that he was tired and ready to go crushed me. It seemed like he was ready to go from the start of the story and just like he said, he wanted to take care of summer, but the plot twist of her mom oh my God I didn’t see it coming.

PLOT TWIST!

Grey definitely has a way with words and always writes in a way that really gives the readers a glimpse into how passionate she is about her craft. After a "hood book" she is an author that I know will cleanse my pallet. And while this book evoked some sadness on a couple occasions the overarching emotion that jumped off these pages was love between the characters. Now I didn't see that plot twist coming AT ALL, but I think it was handled accordingly and in the end their love remained.

Summer and Saul

Talk about insta love! Saul falls for Summer INSTANTLY and boy was he intentional about letting her know. Summer was given away at birth and raised by her dad who is sick. She's spent her whole life wondering about her mom. Summer's dad loved her with everything but she craved that mother's love. Saul was the perfect catch. That plot twist wasn't what I expected. This novella was a quick read.

Saul had love at first sight and it was history from there. Summer asked him if he was willing to see the better version of her, even with all her life trauma. He did just that!!! Summer, Spring, Fall & Winter he will always be there!

AND THAT PLOT TWIST!!!!? HELLO!!? Had my emotions everywhere! I saw that happening with the daddy but to turn around and backhand me was wild. That could have gotten real messy but Saul is too demure!

Be my Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring

This book definitely gives an Indie film vibes. Summer and Saul kinda had an insta love 💕 Chemistry was immediate when they met in the park. Her father was dying but happy she had Saul to lean on. Her mother was foul and that was shocking. Through her grief, Saul was there for her, just as he promised from the start. I enjoyed the book. However I would have preferred to get a backstory on the mom and her decisions.

Ooh how I love love

Easy. Present. Comforting. Uplifting. Honest. Refreshing. Endearing. Warm. Heavy. Alignment.
The love in this book was all this and more.
The twist with Summer's mom was both expected and unexpected. The audacity of Angela.
Grey for the good, fuzzy feels everytime.

Be My Summer

This story was a good read, with a mix of cute, heartwarming moments and some sad ones. I really loved Saul and how he was completely about Summer. He was so supportive of her feelings and the decisions she made throughout the story. His willingness to stand by her and support her choices made their relationship especially sweet to see.

Short but excellent

Saul, stood ten toes down behind Summer out of the gate! A man after my own heart. He knew what he wanted and went after it. He stood in the gap and found ways to express himself that spoke to Summer's soul. This was short but worth it. Oh and before I forget fuck that lady. If you know you know.

Summer and Saul were absolutely adorable omg I was blushing throughout the entire book lol. Saul was so gentle and intentional with Summer from day one and I loved that. Despite her trauma, Summer allowed herself to be open and that was beautiful. I was not expecting the plot twist but I love how Saul AND his family stood by what was right, opposed to history. Beautiful story!
