Some books are like fire and some are molten lava. Some are there to make us cry, laugh and pull out our hair in frustration but some are there that will slowly make us smile but some................... just don't leave that much of an impression. This book unfortunately was one for me. In my own opinion I felt this belong to one of those cookie cut numberless amount of Romance novels out there. With many stories following similar or somewhat similar patterns in their plots this did not really stand out for me. Although I am being quite rude by saying this, this will go to the pile of book in which I would not even end up remembering the names of the characters or the plot.

Settle in for romantic entertainment that will have you laughing one minute and shaking your head the next as two kind of quirky and definitely polar opposites find that one never knows who Cupid will decide to send his arrow at and that even Cupid has little helpers around any corner. Samantha Chase’s Love Walks In is a delightful read, filled with just about everything a light romance could need!

Follow along as another Shaughnessy brother takes an arrow to the heart and finds the love he hadn’t planned for in his daily schedule and never imagined he deserved. Hugh lives by a rigid schedule and aside from making him a lonely guy, it has been proven as a successful business plan for his high end resorts. Enter Aubrey, literally, into his office window as she attempts to run from a mistake of massive proportions…and the rest is history in the making.

Can a free-spirited young woman from an overbearing family pull the starch out of the shorts of a man who carries a terrible guilt for the tragic loss his family endured years before? With the help of a powerful and eccentric business associate who seems smitten himself with Aubrey’s sparkling charm, love can make even the impossible happen! Settle in, enjoy sweet romance and great writing as Samantha Chase chalks up another point in the MUST read column. Feel the stress emanating from the always in control Hugh as he discovers how out of control his life really is. Kick back and feel the heat they both deny as they struggle to admit the truth everyone else sees. Opposites do attract, sparks will fly and maybe pink suitcases aren’t that bad!

Love Walks In by Samantha Chase is a 2016 Sourcebooks Casablanca publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I thought the first book in the Shaughnessy Brothers series got things off on solid footing and I had faith things would get even better as the we went along.

I was not disappointed! This book was better than the first one, bringing with it a few laughs and a few misty eyed moments.

Hugh has lived with heavy regret, blaming himself for his mother’s accident, all these years. As a result, Hugh never takes risks, and always plays it safe, which is fine, but he isn’t living life to its fullest and is missing out on some really great experiences, like falling head over heels in love.

Audrey sweeps into Hugh’s life like a category five hurricane, when she checks into one his resorts, and he finds she has broken into his office. The sparks fly immediately, but things keep getting better as Audrey ends up staying on and working for Hugh, and you can guess what happens next.

Hugh is beside himself due to his loss of control, over this business, and his life. He picks at Audrey for a long time, but soon finds she is just what he needs to help him finally break free of his self-imposed prison. I loved the dialogue between Audrey and Hugh, which went from bickering to flirting to bickering, to making up, which was highly entertaining.

While Hugh and his family are certainly a complex and complicated mix, each one coping with personal demons and issues, I found the dynamic between Riley and Hugh to be very interesting, but, it was Audrey’s story that had me reaching for my box of tissues. Audrey is truly inspirational and it was so rewarding to see her open her wings and fly.

This novel is a ‘feel good’ story which is both fun and emotional, with a nice love story, that’s touching, sexy, and sweet all at once, but it’s not overly cloying or heavy although some tough issues are addressed. I really enjoyed this one and will be eagerly awaiting the third book in the series.

Overall 4 stars

On the run from the biggest mistake of her life, Aubrey Burke comes climbing into hotel mogul, Hugh’s life.

Aubrey has been cowing to her father’s wishes for too long, when she discovers he is behind the marriage proposal she has agreed to Aubrey decides she can’t take it anymore.

Hugh is a highly organized, routine oriented hotel mogul. When his managing events coordinator quits without notice he is left with way more than he can handle. To top it off, a big wine distributor is coming to meet with him about an exclusive contract he really wants to land.

Aubrey inadvertently lands the wine distribution contract for Hugh, but the contract comes with the condition that Aubrey handles the promotion.

Aubrey’s free spirit and Hugh’s regimented life makes for quirky, fun and wonderfully romantic reading. Chase, once again, provides a fun filled, sweet romance with wonderfully enigmatic and unique individuals that will suck you right in.

I received this ARC copy of Love Walks In from Sourcebooks Casablanca in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication April 5, 2016.

This one is better than the first book. I really like both Hugh and Aubrey as characters. This would have gotten a higher star rating except there were some things about the resolution that bothered me.

Favorite Quotes:

“Some would call it obsessive. Hugh preferred to think of it as considerate.”

“She smiled, knowing she would never forget this moment. This man, who was confident in every aspect of his world, suddenly seemed a little uncertain. A little vulnerable.”

‘Sometimes time doesn’t matter. Sometimes you have to just go with what feels right… And this? This feels right.”

“How was it possible this man had the ability to make her anxious and overwhelmed one minute and then a complete puddle the next? Why did being in love feel so much like an emotional roller coaster?”

“I’m so sorry for everything you suffered. For all you lost. I want to give you all I have. Everything. I know I can’t make those years go away, but I promise to make all the ones coming for us better.”

My Review:

I adore sweet romances with endearing yet somewhat flawed characters – which is exactly the type of story where Samantha Chase excels. Her heart squeezing moments and observant and insightful musings never fail to entertain. I discovered her work through one of my favorite authors S.J. McCoy and her Sweet N’ Steamy Facebook group. Funny how those things happen.

Love Walks In finds an overly sheltered woman with a distant and cold family (and a serious shoe addiction) finally breaking out from the constraints of her oppressive family, and I just adore Aubrey. Aubrey finds herself falling for an extremely buttoned up, handsome, smart, yet tightly cinched and overly controlled man with OCD. While she is enjoying her newfound sense of freedom and adventuresome spirit by exploring some risk taking adventures such as zip lining – her new man is extremely risk avoidant and needs to carefully plan every moment… major dilemma – yet they click. Oh these Shaughnessy’s – they are an intriguing and lovable bunch. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Chase does with the next family member.

Another great book. I'm loving this series. The characters are so easy to relate to and the complex storyline makes it hard to put down. This one is about Hugh and Aubrey. Hugh is the second oldest out of the six kids. He owns resorts all over the world. You would think he was fun and adventurous but he's not. Aubrey is an only child and has been through a lot. Most of her life has been dictated by her father what she's going to do. When their paths cross it changes both of their lives. This is a Must read book in my opinion.

I didn't fall in love with this book like I wanted to but it was definitely more entertaining then the first book.

Hugh owns a bunch of resorts around the world and plans everything by schedule ever since his mothers death. He feels guilty that he was pretty much mean to her and it should have been him that died instead of her. After meeting Aubrey his schedules are about to be thrown out the window he found her climbing in.

Aubrey lives for the moment and she decided she wanted to get married but when the wedding gets too close she plans and escape except someone has taken her bag. After being caught breaking in Hugh's office to get her bag she can't understand why this man is being so nice to her. When a job offer arises it's time for Aubrey to show Hugh just what she's got.

I liked these two as a couple. They are both so different it just worked. Aubrey comes off at first a little wild but she isn't. She just wants to get from under her fathers thumb and do what she wants to do and make her own way which I just loved. The more time these two spent together you could see the changes in Hugh which I just loved. It's like he really started living again and not just working his life away.

I felt the sex scenes were a little fade to black for my taste and would have liked a little more detail.

I thought Ms. Chase did an excellent job in bringing in the right amount of humor to set off the emotional parts. There were times when I just teared up but then a few pages later I would be smiling or laughing.

I do like this family so I will continue reading this series in hopes each book will get a little better as the stories start to progress. I can't wait to see what brother will be next and what will happen.

If you love small town romances I would try this series out.

Samantha Chase has done it again! She brilliantly brings readers the best contemporary romances alive. Her characters never fail to inspire and awe audiences from all over the world. Charming yet realistically created characters that struggle with personal issues is a must read. Inside this exciting hot new novel, Love Walks In, Samantha Chase has beautifully spun a story that will have readers falling in love.

Love Walks In is indeed a must read for all. Readers will get to experience falling in love and the healing that goes with it. Surprisingly love comes tapping two characters on the shoulder. Neither one expected to fall in love and yet they just might...Aubrey's past and so does Hugh's past keep them lingering back a little...both have been hurt. Can the two find peace this time around in each other's hearts or will they be left broken far worse then, they started. Hot, fresh, and romantically luring is what Samantha Chase has written when she delivered, Love Walks In. I love reading anything by Samantha Chase and this new novel of hers is super good. It's hard to rate which of her novels is better than the one before it. However, I highly recommend this story to readers worldwide.

Loved this story! These Shaughnessy brothers are all so amazing and each one affected in his own way by the loss of their mother years ago. Some things become a way of life though and for Hugh Shaughnessy, schedule and routine are what got him through the dark days and what still works for him today. That is until Aubrey Burke literally tumbled her way into his office. She's running from what could have been the biggest mistake of her life. Luckily Hugh helps her out of a tough situation and she can get on with living her life. When she garners the attention of Hugh's very important client, they have not choice but to find a way to get along. She's a live for the moment type person and he's all scheduled up. Will they survive?? And what about that pesky attraction between them?

As I said I loved this one. These characters are amazing and the story that Samantha Chase has crafted around them is stellar. I definitely recommend this one.

So descriptive and fun...I enjoyed this book immensely! I loved how I was able to picture these fantastic resorts, humorous scenes such as crawling through the windows, the tacky luggage, and NC coast. I am a NC girl so I am partial to authors describing the beauty of our coast😻

Hugh and Aubrey are one of my favorite literary couples. They are so different from each other, but perfectly fit and complete each other. Their struggles and emotions were relatable, funny and heartfelt. I knew I liked them when I read their story, but as I have continued on with this family, I always look forward to catching up with Hugh and Aubrey 🙌🏻

So I read two books from this series but not in order. Just randomly. But honestly while you should read the books in order, you can also read them out of order? At least for me anyway. And while I liked this one, I had taken a break from it and took longer to finally finish it. Another good installment and I loved that ending.

Reviewed on Musings and Ramblings.

I was super thrilled to see the next Shaughnessy Brothers book coming out. I had a good time with the first one (a solid 3 star read), and couldn't wait to see which brother was on deck next. I didn't remember Hugh from the first book, and that was fine. After all, there are 6 siblings, and we don't want to or need, to learn everything about all of them in that first book. Getting to know each one a bit at a time makes the journey both more memorable and more fun.

The Shaughnessy's life changed the day they lost their mother, Lillian. Hugh is the second oldest and carries a terrible guilt, that he should have been the one running the errand, except he had been grounded. It changed him almost overnight from the wild rebel child to planner and scheduler. If it's Thursday night, spaghetti is what is on the menu. His days are ruthless organized and calculated with an almost ruthless deliberateness to minimize any risk taking.

But he finds out quickly that no plan is fool proof when he first gets his first introduction to Aubrey. She is sneaking into his office, through the window, to get back the bright pink suitcase Hugh had stashed there after finding it in the middle of his resort grounds. Aubrey had thrown in out the window of her room and had been in the process of following it out when Hugh picked it up and walked off with it. Aubrey had just changed her mind about getting a quickie wedding to a guy she barely knew and was trying to pull off a Runaway Bride. Hugh feels for her and helps her to hide from her ex-fiance. Imagine Hugh's surprise, when he goes looking for his meeting with a new wine distributor, and finds Aubrey has charmed him so completely he is willing to partner with Hugh, but only with Aubrey handling the details. All Hugh's plans, figures and carefully practiced presentation are now entirely useless. I actually though Hugh's head was going to explode, lol.

Hugh and Aubrey were a delightful couple. They truly complemented each other in all the ways that a true partner can. Plus, we got to spend a bit more time with Aiden and Zoe, Quinn and Anna, Ian, Riley, Owen, and Darcy, during Ian's birthday. Once again, I was pleasantly surprised when the opportunity for a cliched move was twisted into something new and entirely more interesting. I am coming to really love the Shaughnessy clan and gave this book 4 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebook Casablanca for the opportunity to read and review the book.

There's something to be said where the story trying to get to you but the characters just don't. I called it unlucky. This book is the character-driven sort of thing. Alas, I just could not find either Aubrey or Hug appealing; the silly slips (Aubrey appeared to forget the time easily), the insecurities, the rushed romance, the drama around them... Felt soap-operaish to me.

I understand that they were supposedly affected by the big issues of the past. On Hugh part, this was more prominent. At least in the beginning. Though with the turn of the pages, Hugh being a stick in the mud was more of others' stating it than the story shown.

That saying, my impression of Hugh was; as a successful businessman (he owned a dozen small scale but posh resorts worldwide after all) the way he carried himself didn't strike me as a strong character.

As for Aubrey; I don't know what to make of her. First and foremost was impulsive. She was also a sad sorry young lady with an unimpressive ex fiancé and an ogre of a father (their spots in the story filled with how bad these two treating her, reasons be damned), at first seemed too broke to afford staying at the resort then appeared to bounce back and could shop for a number of new outfits (what else credit card are for, right).

Let's not forget the whirlwind romance. The business partner who had the foresight and played cupid. And the big happy Shaughnessy family. Oh but wait, we need to add a bit more angst to the lead couples before they truly found their happily ever after; so why not the heroine pulled back a bit because she just remembered one important detail of her life. That way, someone from her life who's been absent so far could suddenly show up and somewhat clear the past for her. Also, the hero could make a grand gesture and all problems solved!

Well, it seems my impatient for the characters got carried away here. I'm just hoping to get more lucky on my next read.

For me, Samantha Chase can be uneven. Some of her stories I really enjoy, others I can barely finish. The book before this one, Made for You, I didn't enjoy so much. This one, I liked.
When we meet Hugh Shaughnessy, he's a rebellious teenager whose biggest act coincides with the night his mother dies. That completely changes him and he swings to the other extreme, becoming very rigid.
When we meet him again as an adult, he's the owner of twelve resorts and in a panic because his events planner (the same person for all twelve) has just left. No two weeks notice. Just gone. And Hugh does NOT deal well with change. He is definitely not amused to find pink luggage not attached to a person on the resort's immaculate lawn. Nor is he later amused to see a woman with a proclivity for tiny underwear.
Aubrey is a Runaway Bride who has just had the luck to meet the man who is about to make Hugh a LOT of money. The man, an eccentric, immediately decides he loves Aubrey and he demands that she be the new point person for the events he is having at Hugh's resorts. An immediate reason for Aubrey and Hugh to spend more time together without being gross because he's not really her boss.
I wish we had seen Hugh open up to Aubrey about his OCD (though we didn't really see any evidence of actual OCD except with the dinners, mostly he just talks about having it). It was almost like love magically cured him of all his issues with the past. So, either his issues were overstated or we have a magic hoo-ha situation here.
There were issues, as I've noted, but the pacing was nice, I liked both Aubrey and Hugh and this was a solid "OK" book for me. Three stars

LOVE WALKS IN by Samantha Chase: 2nd book in The Shaughnessy Brothers:

Hugh Shaughnessy is a man of many talents..he ran 12 resorts all over the country. When it came to experiencing life forget, but it all changed when a women by the name of Aubrey Burke tumbled into his life..actually a little more then tumbled. It's pretty interesting on how they first meet.

Hugh finds Aubrey whom he knew nothing about talking to his client in the bar of his resort. The client wanted her to be part of a project. Yes Hugh was in need of an even coordinator, but now to hire her? He wasn't sure about that.

Aubrey wasn't sure what was going on. She was dogging someone she came to Napa with, and now she had a chance at a job. It was big. If she could read Mr. Owner of the resort she would think he was not so happy about it. He was kind to her, and took care of her. Maybe this was too much. She'd show him how her ideas would improve his resorts. She was really excited about. Hopefully he could see it that way too.

All of Hugh's life things were a little chaotic, structured with his family. He was a little rebellious, and he paid dearly for it. Now as he got older he was more reserved. Aubrey made him step out of the box a little. He didn't know what to do..It was all happening so fast. She felt it too.

Aubrey Burke was always being told what to do by her family, and never being let to do what she wanted to do. Now she was going to give it her all. She would not let Hugh down. Experience and live life to the fullest.

Great book. She what happens between Hugh and Aubrey. Can she change Hugh?

Can wait for the next book. Hope you read Made For Us...Another amazing book..That is Book 1. Aidan Shaughnessy.

Samantha Chase started off her new series “The Shaughnessy Brothers” with a bang as the first Shaughnessy brother Aidan finds his forever with Zoe in “Made For Us”. And “Love Walks In” right into Hugh Shaughnessy’s heart and he had no ammunition to fight his feelings for Aubrey Burke.

Hugh Shaughnessy lives by rules, schedules and itineraries that have no room for changes nor does he let time slip his control. He can’t handle change nor does he see the benefit of others not respecting time and schedules. And for this Shaughnessy, Aubrey Burke is an uncontrollable and unpredictable dilemma that makes him question his attitude. She lives on instinct, thrives on making personal connections and time and schedules are not on her list of living her life. She is a bane to his sanity and he is sexy trouble on a watch for Aubrey.

There’s plenty of humor and passion, charm and dazzle, but what stands out for me in “Love Walks In”, is Samantha’s prowess of setting Hugh apart from his brother Aidan. Each sibling molds to the loss of their mother in different ways. Guilt and responsibility makes them create lives that they live now in, with a hope to atone the guilt of being responsible for her death. Each character has been caricatured with so much detail and dynamics that reading their stories is pure pleasure.

Just as “Love Walks In” for Hugh and Aubrey, they walk right into my heart as one of the sweetest couples that would be on my favorite list.

Love Walks In is the second book in The Shaughnessy Brothers series. It can be read as a standalone and you won't be confused at all.

This story is about Hugh and Aubrey. Hugh lives a very controlled life. As where Aubrey was brought up in regiment life but wants to break free of that.

Their initial meeting is one story to tell for ages to come. Even though they may gotten off on the wrong foot and have a few bumps along the way, it's hard to ignore the chemistry they feel.

Aubrey is the bright colors in Hugh's black and white life. She keeps things lively and forces him out of comfort zone. But it's not without jumping through some hurdles along the way.

The Shaughnessy family is a very tight-knit group and it's not easy to knock down the walls these boys have built. It takes the right woman to be able to make room for her in their lives. I enjoy getting to know each brothers and getting small glimpses of what we can expect in future books.

This book comes across as a light-hearted and sweet love story. I felt the sex scenes were lacking a bit for me but it didn't hurt the flow of the book. But I believe the author is going more for a sweet, feel good story centered around a strong family.

I am looking forward to seeing which brother she writes about next. Each of them are very unique and have different issues or personal dilemmas they are working through and I am interested in seeing how those play out.

I think that I have read all the books written by Samantha Chase. I believe that this book was by far her best. She digs into the characters backgrounds so that the reader can understand what makes Hugh tick. Hugh suffered a huge loss when he was young, losing his mother after having an argument with her. As an adult, he still has never forgiven himself. His life is very regimented because of this loss and he lives his life for work and has forgotten how to enjoy life.

Aubrey falls into his life in a strange but memorable way and his life is changed forever. She intrigues him and he can't help but see the adventure in her that he needs in his life. Although he is hesitant, he can't help but want more of her. She turns his life upside down and no matter how much he tries, he is drawn to her.

Love Walks In is a easy reading, fun loving book. This series is heart warming and brings the love of family and young love to the forefront. I have enjoyed reading all of Samantha Chase's books and would very much recommend this book to anyone who wants to sit back, relax and read a smooth reading book. I believe this is her best!

This book is part of a series. If like me, you haven’t read book one, do not fear. It’s a stand alone and a story with a great plot and characters. If you like Jill Shalvis, and Kathryn Shay, you will love this one.
We have Audrey, a young woman who has become a runaway bride due to a spur of the moment wedding proposal. She comes from a privilege home, but one that offered little love. Hugh , is a workaholic man who owns boutique hotels and leads a very structured life. They meet when he catches her climbing through a window into his office.
Throughout the story we learn more about their individual backgrounds, as they develop feelings for each other.
But I am going to proceed with my usual review style. This book is about familes and how the dynamics of our families and our interaction with them, mold us as adults. How heartbreaking events we experience, can change us dramatically . How fears , and experiences can hinder us in truly living life. But also the book is a reminder on how love, and understanding from special people, can help us overcome it all . So please, pick up the book and enjoy the story. You won’t regret it.

Such a sweet story! I felt so many emotions as I read this book .. I felt sorrow for their loss, joy to see some of them finding happiness again and awe at the sight of so much unconditional sibling love. It really must be surreal to have such a big, loving family such as this. Can't wait to read more of their stories!
The Shaughnessy family suffered great family tragedy years ago, and they each have dealt with it differently over the years. Hugh chose to live a strict, regimented life. Nothing is allowed to be spontaneous, and everything must be planned down to a tee. When Aubrey Burke busts into his life unexpectedly, she is a breath of fresh air. She makes him put down the schedule and actually see what living is like for a change.

Aubrey is trying to live her life to the fullest and is tired of the restraints that were placed on her for most of her life. She wants to have fun, do things, go places, LIVE!

Will these two be able to find a middle ground where she can be free and happy while at the same time he can guard himself from going crazy at the thought of something being out of his control?

Every so often a story comes along that makes a reader stop and take notice. It's never one specific aspect for me but the combined product that has a profound affect. Love Walks In by Samantha Chase is one of those reads. Thank you Samantha Chase for writing such a thought provoking story. Sourcebooks for publishing it and NetGalley for approving my request.

This story was a hard read for me. Beautifully written with characters that any reader can picture and love. What broke me in two was the heartbreaking circumstances that left such a lasting footprint on the lives of such young vital people. Aubrey lost her dream, her family and the way she felt about herself in one instant. Hugh lost his center and closed his heart. There was a positive with Aubrey and Hugh's story they learned not to take life for granted. That is a lesson we all need to remember. A powerful story...but then again from Samantha Chase, I'd expect nothing less.

Samantha chase has done it again. Another shaughnessy book to remember. Hugh is very set in his ways and that means no one tells him that he needs to change a thing that is until Ms Aubrey Burke walks or should I say falls through his office window into his life. Then well let's just say funny things out them in a particular awkward working arrangement. Can they do it? Can they work side by side and no give in to temptation? We'll you will have to find out. Since hugh has some several OCD issues it's hard to tell if he would ever let anyone around him at all. It's such a wonderful story of business and in for seen love. In the end can hey make it work? Well you hear to read to find out but I know for sure that with the excitement that pulls these two together you don't know which way things are going to go if you don't read it till the end. Great read Samantha chase is a forever author to me!!!!!

An emotional read, that will have you shedding happy and sad tears. Loved every page of this book, true to life characters, that will have you wanting more.

The Shaughnessy family has suffered a tragic loss of their mother years ago and it has affected each child different. Hugh blames himself for the loss, and has now become a rule follower and all business. He has a large resort business. Life goes on for Hugh until he meets The Runaway Bride, Aubrey, who turns his life upside down. Aubrey has not had a good life growing up, so she wants to live life on the edge. Can these two opposites find a happy medium.

Loved this book!!! This is the second book in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend this series!

I love Samantha Chase's Shaughnessy Brothers Series and I was so excited to read Hugh's story, and Samantha definitely didn't disappoint.
Hugh is the second oldest of the Shaughnessy clan, he is a stickler for schedules and he needs everything to have structure. This all stems from when he was 17 and they lost their mom. Even now to this day Hugh blames himself for the accident.
Aubrey is a free spontaneous young woman who is just what Hugh needs to shake up his perfectly scheduled life. Aubrey has her own set of problems being an only child and learns life is too short, so she lives in the moment and is carefree.
This was an amazing read with loveable characters and is very enjoyable, full of love, sorrow and laughs. Samantha Chase writes sweet sexy romances right from the heart

Aubrey isn't a fussy girl, well on some things, “I’m learning you have excellent taste in food, and after last night’s fried chicken, I’m willing to bet that whatever you order, I’m going to love it.” Hugh can be a caveman at times and it's sexy, "Aubrey purred. “I was wishing you had come up here with me and we’d spent the night making love.” In a flash, Hugh scooped her up in his arms and strode back over to the bed. He dropped her down and reached for the sash on her robe. “Hugh!” she cried. “What about dinner?” I liked this book, Hugh could be a control freak and it was fun watching him unravel.
