Prepare to fall into a love that is powerful enough to prevail over tragedy, death, and multiple lifetimes. When eighteen-year-old Nate meets Elizabeth by chance during the height of the French Revolution he has no idea that his entire life is about to change. They quickly fall in love only to be tragically torn apart during the September Massacre of 1792.
Nate reincarnates more than two hundred years later in Brookfield, Wisconsin with the sole purpose of finding his lost love, Elizabeth. He soon realizes that finding her is the easy part, but keeping her is a whole other story. Elizabeth has no memory of their past life together until she begins being tormented by vivid dreams. Soon they both become swept up in the past and each other. Their happiness is once more threatened by Elizabeth’s mobster ex-boyfriend and Nate’s disapproving friends Darcy and Jake. They must stick together to overcome the obstacles trying to rip them apart with the help of Elizabeth’s friends Luciana, Surewood, and Belinda.
Things get messier when Elizabeth begins to remember a dark new past life she shared with Nate; as well as with her ex, Anton, who refuses to let her go without a fight. But Nate and Elizabeth must ask is there someone else pulling the strings with Anton? Someone who is more sinister and dangerous than they can even imagine? Will Nate and Elizabeth ever get their happy ending?
TAYLOR FENNER is the author of eleven Young Adult and New Adult novels and novellas. Her Young Adult Fantasy Retelling, CURSEBREAKER, was shortlisted for the 2017 Ozma Award for Fantasy Fiction, and her standalone fantasy novel, MONSTERS & MIST, is a Literary Titan Silver Book Award Winner and was also shortlisted for the 2021 Ozma Award for Fantasy Fiction.
Taylor is a thirty-something-year-old book junkie who devours books in most genres, although she has a soft spot for thrillers and horror novels.
Taylor lives in Wisconsin with her escape artist cat, Houdini, and a British shorthair cat, Makita, who might have eaten her last owner. Besides writing, by night, Taylor works the night shift as a dispatcher in a possibly haunted police station. When not working on her next novel, you’ll find Taylor traveling or planning her next adventure, watching horror movies - she says classic horror is the best - reading or watching shows about creepy history, indulging in sugary coffee drinks, singing badly along to songs on Spotify in the car, and obsessively planning for Halloween starting in July (it’s never too early). You can follow Taylor on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok.
God this book was quite bad to be honest, I tried to believe in it and at the start it was quite fun and I even enjoyed how her best friend was Wiccan, however as you get more into it there were so many ridiculous plot twists and basically everyone that she meets is fucking Wiccan. Like she bumps into someone and BAM oh hi I'm Wiccan. But besides that what annoys me the most is how they've always gone to the same school and THE SAME FRENCH CLUB, bur haven't noticed each other before. Besides that the writing was very simple and to be honest quite stupid. I did enjoy the start but it is a downhill journey with a climax that lasts two pages.
Finding Elizabeth was a sweet, cute novel revolving around the idea that we are reincarnated, and true love conquers all.
I found this novel to be quite cute! It was a very romanticizing novel, for all the true romantics at heart.
While this novel does start out quite slow and boring at the start, it picks up speed rather quickly. The content of the book seems like it is more of a Young Adult than any other category. It isn't for a very young audience, but it feels like it isn't aimed at the adult audience either. But that makes this book more accessible to different audiences!
I did find that this plot has been redone a million and one times, but it was a sweet novel! It isn't something I'd go running to pick up immediately, but as a nice, short read it was great! It didn't wow me or stand out compared to other similar books, but it shouldn't be left off the shelf! It was a good read!
Taylor Fenner did an excellent job with this novel, and I applaud her!
Four out of five stars!
I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
After reading the author's latest novel, Out of Darkness I picked up Finding Elizabeth. While I still like Out of Darkness better, I still really liked-bordering-on-loved Finding Elizabeth. It's a quick easy read and the storyline keeps the reader engaged. I really liked all of the major characters and I loved the easy friendship between Elizabeth and Luciana. My only question is: the necklace that Luciana gives Elizabeth from the shop she works in "because she might need it someday"; what was that supposed to be used as? It's a minor detail but it's been bugging me. Anyway, I really enjoyed this book. Definitely worth reading!
The amazing cover of Finding Elizabeth caught my eye. I wanted to explore the book itself. After the first few pages I found it was a book that I couldn't put down. The suspense and sensitivity of the characters finds me wanting to tell friends to be sure to read Finding Elizabeth if they want something that keeps them entertained. I found that at the end of my reading that I wished it would keep going on and on and that I could keep involved in the characters lives.
I really wanted to love this. But, after some good advice about there being too many good books in the world, I’m bailing. This is a total train wreck. I had better writing skills in the 6th grade. So many unbelievable plot points even 5 chapters in: you go to the same school and have never seen each other when you’re in the same French club?! Astral projection is just no big deal? And a mob boyfriend at 16 in WISCONSIN?! Ummm no.

The story is interesting, though the end adds in some extra weirdness, but the book is -filled- with grammatical errors. The book needs a few more editors, but the storyline is a good starting point.
I feel like there was a lot missing from this story. There was so much more that I yearned for, and the whole confronting-the-bad-guy scene was like, 30 seconds of reading. With some good editing, I think this author could have created something as beautiful as Lauren Kate’s book Fallen.
So... Past lives and reincarnation I get it but at the end there was so much going on that I didn't really enjoy it... Too many subplots for my liking.
