Reina has spent a century living a life that was never truly hers, with no memory of the kingdom she lost or the destiny that was waiting from her. But when the ancient Veil protecting the Six Realms begins to tear apart, an evil long thought buried spills back into the world, and destiny comes to collect.
As old alliances are tested and suspicion spreads across the realms, Reina discovers a truth that changes she is the last heir of Novara, a celestial kingdom thought long vanished, and the only soul capable of sealing the darkness that once consumed the realms.
At her side stands Auren, the bonded Captain who has guarded her since before she can remember, carrying secrets that span lifetimes and a devotion even time and space could not break. Together they must try reunite fractured realms, ancient rulers, and long-forgotten magic before the world falls into shadow once more.
But fate has never been simple. For every path taken, another is left behind. Every choice demands a sacrifice. Every act of love carries a cost. And sometimes the stars may show the way… but they cannot choose it for you.
Now Reina must decide what she is willing to give to unite the realms once more; and what she is willing to lose to save them.
3 1/2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you to A.C. Morris for providing me with an ARC of The Moon Queen: Sanctum of Starlight in exchange for an honest review. 🤍
The Moon Queen is such an imaginative and beautifully celestial fantasy, with an intriguing premise and a world that you can tell has had so much thought poured into it.
The story throws you straight into the action, immediately creating a sense of urgency and mystery. I really enjoyed the concept of the different realms, the mystery surrounding Raina and Aurum, the breaking of the veil and the time pressure that comes with it. There is so much history, magic and lore woven into this world, with a variety of magical beings and creatures that really add to the fantasy atmosphere.
One of my favourite parts was the mystery surrounding Raina herself. She begins the story without her memories or a true understanding of who she is, and watching those pieces slowly begin to come together kept me wanting answers and reading
For me personally, where I wanted a little more was in the character and relationship development
Raina goes through a huge journey of discovering who she is, and I loved seeing her become stronger and begin stepping into herself. At times, though, parts of that transformation felt quite quick. Because her memories and her past are such an important part of the story, I would have loved to spend more time experiencing those discoveries alongside her and seeing some of those moments given a little more emotional weight.
I felt similarly about Raina and Aurum. Their connection intrigued me from the beginning, and I loved the mystery surrounding them, but I personally wanted more time spent developing their bond and allowing that emotional connection to build. There are some really interesting relationship dynamics throughout the book, and a little more time with the characters between the action and world building would have helped me feel even more invested in them.
That being said, this is a story that continually gives you something new to uncover. The plot moves quickly, the world is incredibly detailed, and there are plenty of mysteries and unanswered questions pulling you forward and the ending 🤌 that definitely leaves you wanting answers
Overall, The Moon Queen is a creative and magical debut with a beautifully imagined world, intriguing characters and so much potential for where this story could go next. I had fun reading this
DNF@40% Thank you to the Author for the Arc. The premise is great with it being inspired by Sailor Moon but it need some more development in the character relationships. I found myself wanting to care about Reina, Riven, and Auren but I found myself not really engaged in the story or caring about what happen to them. For what I read so far,the book was revealing things so early that doesn’t have the emotional weight behind it. We are barely into story and barely know the characters and twist was dropped that could have been kept longer for a more emotional blow.
I absolutely loved the idea that this series was a mixture of stories/movies that I had grown up watching and yearning to delve into their worlds - magical and ethereal. I also enjoyed having a FMC and MMC who are predestined and soulmates.
As it sort of jumps straight into the action, there wasn’t the build up or suspense you have with other books, and which allows the reader to grow and connect with the MCs (and other supporting characters). I found it quite difficult to connect with Reina, Auren and Riven so I didn’t feel invested in any character, and the relationships between lovers/friends was very rushed. It also felt like I was more dropped into the middle of the story (almost as though it could have been book 2) which made me feel more detached.
Overall, the Moon Queen almost felt nostalgic to read. If you loved Sailor Moon, Stardust and Howls Moving Castle, the Moon Queen takes inspiration from all. Thank you Amelia for sharing this with us. I’m looking forward to continuing Reina’s story in the Crown of Constellations!

I loved the idea of my favorite childhood classics coming into one book.
I loved how the main characters are so in love that they were able to find each other no matter what. Throw in a love triangle and it spices things up a bit.
One major downside of the book, in my opinion, is that the characters already had a story of their own. There was not much character or world development in the story to have us as readers experience the highs and lows with the characters.
Overall, great concept and love story and I can’t wait for book 2!
I finished The Moon Queen- sanctum of starlight today and when I say I devoured it, I am not joking. I enjoyed reading the different character perspectives, I wanted to learn more about them and at times, with certain characters, I wanted to reach through the pages and shake some sense into them. I look forward to buying this when it is released. A 5 read for me. Thank you Amelia for allowing me to read your baby
🌙 The Moon Queen: Sanctum of Starlight — A. C. Morris 3.5 stars | ARC review
Reina has no memory of her past life, but when the realms fall into danger, a captivating stranger appears by her side and she instinctively trusts him. Together, they must uncover her lost memories and work to save the realms.
There’s a lot to enjoy here: magical realms, soul-bound lovers and good versus evil. Morris writes beautifully, describing emotions and surroundings in a way that makes you feel right there with the characters. Sometimes, though, those descriptions interrupted the action. I found it difficult to follow conversations when paragraphs of description separated the dialogue.
I enjoyed the characters and loved the soul-bound romance, but I wanted more struggle and tension before everything fell into place. A little more build-up would have helped me feel their connection more deeply, and Reina sometimes felt a little too perfect.
The world-building felt slightly rushed, and I finished with more questions than answers. Something that always frustrates me with a series, even when there’s more to come!
Overall, a solid read, and I appreciated that the romance stayed PG, making it one I’d feel comfortable recommending to younger readers too. If magical realms and soul-bound love are your thing, this could be for you.
The souls were bound. I just wanted a little more tension tying them together.
3.5 stars for an amazing debut novel by an inspiring Aussie indie author.
A world like no other. It’s so refreshing to read a Romantasy book that isn’t heavy on the physical connection and focuses more on the relationship itself. Not to mention the world building is next level. So many realms and environments to travel and explore.
Beginning of the book was a little hard to connect with and really get into the story but once I got halfway I really started to get a feel for the characters. The different character perspectives early on may have contributed to that jumpy unconnectedness of the first half of the book.Surprisingly, I found myself at the final 5% of the book, putting off and unconsciously refusing to read it because I didn’t want the story to end.
Once again there are so many great characters to fall in love with and I found that I had a few faves that weren’t the main characters. Another refreshing bonus point.
For a first book Amelia has done an amazing job writing a world and a legend that is not one commonly seen in writing. I love the all the different themes and the plot twist at the very very end had me eager to dive into the next book in the series! I can’t wait to see how this story continues and develops over the next coming books in the series. .
The Moon Queen: Sanctum of Starlight was a beautiful read from start to finish. Perfect for those who love fantasy, adventure, destined love, and that sweet romance that makes you feel warm inside. But there was plenty of plot outside of the romance, and it was wonderful to see each and every character evolve, or show their secrets as the story evolves. This is a no spice book (apart from kissing) so it was a really nice change of pace for fantasy books. I wouldn't call it cosy, but it's also not spicy. It's a sweet in-between. The story follows Reina, the lost either to a kingdom, as she recovers her memory, reconnects with people of her past, all while trying to work out if she follows a destiny she never chose, or will she fight against the grain and forge her own path in her own way. Book 1 leaves you on a cliffhanger where you question so many things through the book, and I can't wait to see book 2 come out. This is was win for me for those looking for relatable characters, beautiful magical worlds, heart swooning love and mystery underneath it all.
It’s taken me a few days to process The Moon Queen: Sanctum of Starlight, and I’m STILL not over it. 💜
This was my very first ARC read, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a more magical one. 🥹📚
This story brought pieces of my childhood back to life in such a beautiful, fresh and modern way. It gave me that feeling of wonder that made me fall in love with fantasy in the first place. ✨
I laughed. I felt. I escaped. And I absolutely did NOT want it to end! 🌙👑
Thank you for trusting me with your beautiful story before it entered the world. I cannot wait to have a physical copy sitting proudly on my bookshelf! 💜
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Now… HOW am I supposed to wait patiently for the next one?! 😭🌙✨
thank you to the author for providing an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
The Moon queen is a beautifully narrated story. The author really describes the settings with lush detail and beautiful prose. The introduction to Aurum was very mysterious, and the world has a whole Is mysterious and very interesting. Things did seem a bit lacking in the character development early on, but overall it was satisfying to watch Raina grow.
I actually really enjoyed the dialog in this book too. It was so engaging and interesting, and human. It felt cinematic and real, like I was eavesdropping on a conversation. And I loved that. I really did get Sailor Moon vibes from this book— not the Tokyo modern part of it—but the moon kingdom star cross love part. And I loved that! I am looking forward to reading more from this author. She has a beautiful heart, and imagination!
I was lucky enough to be selected as an ARC reader for this book and honestly, it was such an honour to be part of this beautiful authors debut novel. The Moon Queen: Sanctum of Starlight is the first of two books she has planned and the first leaves you on a cliffhanger with enough insight to leave me desperate for the next book. The Moon Queen takes us into the beautiful worlds of Cindrel, myrhhkin and novara as Reina, the main character, tries to work out her destiny in the opening of the Veil; a world of darkness. Soul bound love is a refreshing take on fantasy romance; and the characters were incredibly easy to fall in love with. My heart ached for them!!! Wonderful book; def worth the read!
I was fortunate enough to be selected as an ARC reader for this book (my very first one!). I feel very lucky to have been able to read this story before it was released into the world. Amelia's writing style is incredibly immersive, I could practically see, hear and feel exactly what she was describing. You can feel the love and care she has for her world and her characters on every page. It jumps straight into the action, and all the information about the political landscape and each realm felt a little overwhelming at first but trust the process! It's a fantastic story, and I can't wait to see where it goes. I will be eagerly awaiting book 2, thats for sure.
This book was written so well, I was sucked in instantly. It was a bit tough to understand the world, and powers to begin with. It would’ve been great for a little bit more understanding but otherwise I absolutely loved it and for a first book it was stunning. Can’t wait for the next book or books to come
