"Parallel Lies" is a breathtaking espionage novel about the fears, jealousy, and lies of an aging Mossad Agent who falls in love in a single moment with a woman nearly twenty years his junior—the daughter of the world's most wanted terrorist.
On October 7, four elite members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps covertly entered Israeli territory. They buried a green barrel in a pit prepared for them in advance near the border. Immediately afterward, they quickly returned to the Strip under the cover of the battles, the shouts, and the rising smoke.
Will he succeed in his mission to locate the barrel, or will the love he found along the way lead to its failure? When it comes to women, men do not always think rationally, even when their personal security is at stake. He was likely not the first, and certainly not the last.
Parallel Lies is a gripping combination of espionage, romance, danger, and emotional conflict that pulled me in from the premise alone. The contrast between an aging Mossad agent, a high stakes mission, and an unexpected love for the daughter of a wanted terrorist creates an incredibly tense situation. I especially enjoyed how the story explores the conflict between professional duty and emotions when the two become impossible to separate. The mystery surrounding the hidden barrel adds another layer of urgency and keeps the stakes high. What makes this story stand out is how naturally the romance becomes intertwined with the espionage plot. It is intense, unpredictable, and emotionally engaging. Kobbi Shoshani has created a world with plenty of room for more stories, and I would definitely love to read what comes next.
