Three years passes quickly in the limelight. Writer Addison Blake, and her wife actress Emma Bronson, have weathered more than one storm together. The popular television show that the two helped create called OFF SCREEN continues to draw audiences, making the couple a hot commodity. But, something is missing for Emma. The pair have adjusted to their life together and fallen into a comfortable routine. So, what could she be missing? Emma has it all, money, fame, beauty, a partner who adores her, and a romantic life that remains passionate. There is one role she still longs to play. Can she find the courage to ask Addison to issue a new CASTING CALL?
I read the first 4 books in one long book and loved every moment. I fell in love with the characters and the family that they are. J. A. Armstrong gives yet another brilliant series where you just can't wait for the next book. I love this book and am on to get the next one started.
A heartwarming story in this serial. Emma and Addy are settled into their personal and professional success. Their tv series is finishing a second year and now is the time to think about when and how they will add to their family. I loved how they really had never discussed actually how they would expand their family each making their own assumptions. Still steamy and sweat. (4.5 stars)
This fifth installment in the story of Emma and Addison finds the women settling into their lives and the routine of their television show. Through all of the ups and downs of their lives, everything seems to be complete. But one thing is lacking, and they both seem reluctant to broach the subject. They want to be parents. This could mean a huge change for both women, not only personally but professionally. To find out if they can pull off this dream of theirs, be sure to add this book, this entire series, to your must-read list.
I always love JA's characters and dialogue so much and this series is no exception. Casting Call is a wonderful episode where actress Emma and writer Addison add to their family. JA is truly a gifted writer; however, I am sorely disappointed in the number of typos found in this short book. A writer of her caliber and popularity should be able to afford a good proofreader! It would certainly elevate her writing!
The fantastic character development continues in this episode, with Addy and Emma taking the next logical step in their life as a family. Other than a few editing issues, this is a wonderful series.
This is the 5th book in the "Off Screen" romance series. In this story Ms. Armstrong expands the story by adding a new emotional dimension. As one can guess by the cover, Emma and Addy decide to have a baby. In doing so, they have new issues to face with the television programming. I suggest that if you have not read any of Ms. Armstrong's book, you do so. I would recommend starting with the first book in each series. Once you do this, you will be hooked.
4.5 stars. This was so fuckin' precious! Emma and Addy are parents now! Such a sweet installment to this series and I loved it. I'm continuing to be in love with these characters, their romance, and everything else going on.
I am enjoying this sweet heartfelt story of a writer and an actor that shake up Hollywood with their new tv show and how they navigate their life together.
JA Armstrong pulls out another win with Casting Call. Addison and Emma's life continues as their love and family grows. I love this series and have read it several times. I will continue to come back and visit it.
To be honest, the beginning was kind of boring. (I find myself beginning several reviews this way, heh). And, while it wasn't just an event that occurred between side characters that I can't reveal without spoiling, that event did raise the possibility of giving four stars. Then enough occurred "right" in the main Em/Addy story line for me to agree with myself and mark the story "4 stars". Though, just four. Not 3.8, not 4.2, and not 4.5.
I was excited to see another Armstrong story. Though I kinda wanted to see another By Design story before another Off Screen, though it was Off Screen's turn in the release cycle. I think. Which is vaguely humorous to myself considering that I started off the review for the first By Design story by noting how i liked the couple in that one less than the one in Off Screen.
No matter. I like both series. I'm happy to have a story in either. And, apparently, this specific series isn't over yet. "Intermission" is coming next at some point. Unless "Intermission" means, you know, intermission, then maybe it's a different series taking Off Screen's spot in the release rotation?
This novella really could have done with a good edit. There were vast swaths of text that were 'tell not show' - every character motivation is (over) explained to the enth degree.
I loved these characters at first but everything is becomming a bit too twee for me :(
This is one of the most beautiful series I ever read. It revolves around the important things in life; love, friends and family. I look forward to book 6 and I can hardly wait.
It was a delightful, charming story. The author has developed these characters with such love that I feel like I know them! Looking forward to the next segment!!!!!
Ok, I am STILL waiting to be disappointed by this series. It just isn't happening. I love the sneak peeks into the lives of these characters. Keep it coming, and thank you, JA Armstrong!!
I'm still saying that this is a great series and love all the characters. Emma and Addy are a great couple because you get to see the dynamics of their relationship.
