3.75 RATING- This was a well written, well thought out biker/MC romance. Probably more focus on actual MC issues (rather than sex) than most of my recent biker reads. I read the first book in the series and need to go back and read the others. It's refreshing to see an older heroine (late 50's) with a younger hero.

All in all, it was a quality read but the story line as it related to the heroine's deceased husband left me feeling a bit melancholy. What can I say? I'm a sensitive soul =)

Eddie Rollins was married to, Joker a member of the Four Horsemen MC, she loved him with every fiber of her soul and gave him two sons. When Joker got caught up in a RICO sting, she lost everything and Joker was killed in prison. Since that day Eddie as lived up to her life as an old lady, helping the MC to rebuild and remember the sins of the past making sure to never repeat.

Captain, the president of the MC, has long carried a torch for Eddie. Now after years of waiting he is ready to make his move, but Eddie is still loyal to her dead husband. When Beau Beauregard goes after Eddie's bootlegging business everything comes falling down around them and the new relationship between Captain and Eddie is threatened. Secrets will be revealed but who will be left standing once the truths are found out?

Was not quite what I expected. I had read Blood in the Water prior too so I knew some of the details of this book, hindsight I would probably read this one first as it was easy to figure out what was going on. I liked Eddie a lot, have liked her since the first book. Strong heroine and the chemistry between Captain and Eddie is electric. Excellent read.

4.5 STARS!

I've really loved this series! book 4 is Captains story (the MC pres) hes got all the attributes that a biker should have, totally cool, unshakeable and sexy as sodding hell! But this guy has the added bonus of being all that and being absolutely head over heels in love with a woman who for 2 decades has been mourning the loss of the love of her life.

He's been waiting for the right moment and when it arises he grabs it and doesn't let go. I love this man and his straight talking, no games, no taking no for an answer, he knows what he wants and boy oh boy he's determined to get it.

Great characters and a great story too!

Next please....

Alright

It was a good read.

Lots of backstory on the club. Captain was something else and a big twist. I liked Beauregard in the Mafia series, but he was a complete villain in this book.

Eddie was one strong woman and I hate that she had to see things in different light after the big reveal.

Interesting plot twists for sure.

Devil May Care begins with Captain finally getting the nerve to make his move on Eddie. He knows he has a lot against him, but he has to make her his before it's all too late.

Eddie knows she has feelings for Captain, however she's been holding on to her dead husband for such a long time, she has no idea how to let go. But sometimes the truth, while hurtful, may set you free.

These two will come together and make some explosive decisions that no only involve each other but the lives of those around them. The MC is going to have to work extra hard to keep everyone safe now.

I enjoyed this story, but I also got slightly bored with it. I was a little frustrated with the way Captain and Eddie were going. I felt like it should have been a little bit faster. But other than that the story line was very interesting, and it sets up for more books in the series. I lot of very game changing things happened in this one, and I'm looking forward to more books now.

An intense story about love and truth.
I have never read a character like Eddie (Edna) before, nor a dynamic like the one she and Captain (Colin) shared: an older widow, younger divorcee, and a years-old secret that would be a game-changer for everybody.
I really liked Eddie. While I could relate her to people I have met, I wanted to meet her and just hang with her. The hand she was dealt wasn't fair at times, and I was rooting for her all the way.
Captain was true alpha male. Period. But, he definitely had a soft spot for Eddie, and he was not giving up until she was his.
Take a hard-core MC, murder, the FBI, then throw in a moonshine operation and an insanely wealthy family stirring up trouble, and you've got Devil May Care!

I love this story it was “sweet”. Captain has been in love with Eddie from he was a prospect. She is 15 years older than he is so that’s why the book was so touching for me. He was in love with her for decades. Although a love story, some secrets came to light when Champion confesses which not only could jeopardize his President status or his life.
Highly recommend this book for sure.

As a reader obsessed with MC-themed romances I was thrilled to finally become acquainted with the Four Horseman MC and the sexy and compelling men and women who inhabit this exciting and sometimes stormy world. Though I've not read the previous installments in this series I had no trouble getting quickly caught up in the dangerous past and unsettled future for the Club. Once I reached the final page I couldn't wait to purchase the rest of the series as I became captivated by the exhilarating and dangerous world Ms. Rayne crafted.

After deadly events long ago left their Club in ruins, current President Captain seems to have the Club flourishing with men surrounding him who he knows he can count on. Beside him throughout the years offering support has been the older woman, and wife of the Club's long dead President, Eddie. From the moment he saw Eddie he wanted her but Club honor held him back and had him marrying another but never giving up his attraction for her. He's waited patiently for the right time to claim her and after being goaded by his Brothers that time is now. It will be a difficult battle to earn her love though as he'll be fighting the memories she has of her dead husband as well as threats from rivals to the Club. It all leads to moments of unrelenting sexual tension as well as pulse pounding and dangerous encounters that bring him and Eddie closer together despite all the reasons why she thinks they shouldn't find HEA. Captain's a super sexy guy full of guilt over the past and worries over the Club's future. He was only a Prospect when everything went so wrong for the Club and is determined not to let it happen again, but with their ongoing war with the Raptors and with an upcoming visit from the FBI, he's on edge. He's always been drawn to Eddie but knew he couldn't have her, even now he's hesitant to claim her as he doesn't want it seen as a betrayal to the Club. Being with her brings moments of peace and happiness, along with a fun, flirty, and playful side that he can't show as President. I loved seeing him and Eddie together, their flirty banter and crackling sexual chemistry, and found their older woman/younger man connection believable and refreshing.

Eddie may no longer be the official Queen Bee of the Club but she's a big part of its past and its future as the mother of current members. Though she was devoted to her dead husband Joker she was always flattered by Captain's flirtations and couldn't help finding him sexy. Now that she's free to accept his affections though she's torn over feelings of betrayal to Joker's memory as well as their age difference. Her willpower will be tested as Captain unleashes a sensual onslaught that any woman would find hard to resist. When her lucrative moonshine business captures the attention of rivals it will put her in extremely close quarters with Captain which allows them to explore years of pent-up feelings. Once the dust settles nothing will ever be the same!

This was an exciting thrill-ride from the first page to the last. Though it's the fourth book in the series it definitely stands on its own as it nicely balances the sweet and sexy romance with Club machinations that has readers discovering what brought the MC down and what dangers loom on the horizon. The main couple is immensely likable as they engage in their sensual battle of wills with a believable connection that's been years in the making. Surrounding them is an equally likable and diverse cast of secondary characters that keep the action rolling along and that have me excited for the future as their personal lives play out amidst a background of increasing danger. With an exciting cliffhanger ending readers will be left counting down the days until we return to Hell in this exhilarating and sensual series!

4.5 Crowns

Book 4 in the Four Horseman MC series. Each book can be read as a standalone, however I personally suggest you read the series in order as it will give you more background on the ensemble characters and will enrich your reading experience.

Eddie is the club Matriarch, Queen Bee of the old ladies and mother to 2 of the clubs members. She is also a widow, and has been since losing her husband Joker over 20 years earlier when he was murdered whilst serving 25 years in prison. She has however, remained faithful to him even in death, never feeling ready to move on from the love of her life and the father of her beloved sons.

Captain is the club president. He fell into the position when the club was all but decimated following a RICO investigation in the 90's. He is growing tired of the role and would love time to chill with his brothers and spend more time with his daughter. But above all of that he would love to finally win the heart of the woman that he has loved for most of his life.

When Eddie and Captain finally decide to stop dancing around the attraction that has bubbled between them for years, other obstacles arise that may put a stop to them being anything more than friends.

When secrets are revealed and betrayals exposed, will they come together? Or will they fall apart?

I am seriously loving this series. It is the perfect blend of romance and biker life that keeps me interested. This book in particular was a really great read. I loved that Eddie was in her late 50's (I envisioned a nicer SOA's Gemma) and that captain was in his 40's - usually we read about younger H/h's so that in itself was a nice change. But I also liked the fact that you have a woman so in love with her late husband that she finds it hard to move on, even with an attraction to Captain that has burned for years. On the flip side you have a man that has been utterly in love with a woman that has been forever out of his reach. Her loyalty to a man that Captain despised, makes his devotion to her even more difficult for him to live with.

This book is full of twists and turns and we are introduced to new adversaries. Is it a happy ending? Well whilst the other books were tied up, the bigger story arc in this one will certainly run into coming books. Don't worry though, it doesn't have a cliffhanger; it just leaves you wanting more.

I now look forward to Shep's book. I have to admit that it is a story I have look forward to since book 1. I can't wait to see what will happen when Shep's secrets are finally revealed.

Another great read in a brilliant series. In my opinion, this series goes from strength to strength with every book. Well done Ms Rayne, keep up the good work!

I'm familiar with the Four Horsemen characters and especially the attraction of Captain and Eddie.

As per usual Shep is dealing with some heavy sh*t and up until now I thought it had to do with his sexual orientation. Towards the end of the book he makes a comment that has me thinking if he's really full blown gay or does his health decline have to do with some other secret.Regardless, Shep is carrying some heavy stuff.

And mercy he is not the only one. Captain. Captain. Captain.

As per usual with a MC, there's always an enemy lying in wait. In this case its the Raptor MC AND a partnership between the Dixie Mob and a former hitman named Byron Beauregard.

Sidenote: Byron is an opportunistic maniac. Or is he?

Most likely he is.

So between these two horrific enemies lying in wait and Captain trying to win Eddie over....its a complete and utter mad house.

AND THEN Captain's secret comes to light.

is all I'm saying

Can't say I was so surprised, but I was surprised with the showdown between Eddie and Byron. smh It also becomes glaringly obvious that Byron doesn't have it all and just doesn't give a damn who he has to take out. And his connection to Eddie is a great plot device as well.

I can't wait to see how the club deals with this new 'partnership', will Shep come out, is Lexi (Captain's daughter) meant to hook up with Byron...? (But if I remember correctly Lexi/Shep/Pretty Boy are some kind of triangle--don't like that tho)

Devil May Care by Cynthia Rayne was a different yet engaging MC book.

It is almost a second chance at love story, though they never really had a first. Captain has pined after Eddie ever since her first saw her, when he was a wet behind the ears prospect and she was married to Joker. A man that Captain just knows is unworthy of the woman he has set his eyes and heart on. Eventually Captain moved on with his life, but he never truly moved on from Eddie.

Now, it is finally (past) time for him to make his move. They are both single. They are both considered leaders in the MC - he is the prez and she is the reigning Old Lady. Now he just needs to gain the confidence to finally pursue his dream, HER and convince her to take a chance on him - a younger man. Just when he starts to go after her safety is threatened and secrets from the past come back to haunt.

I liked watching Captain pursue Eddie. I love a tough, kick ass heroine and she was definitely that. She has held things together for a long time and we come to see how she has helped to shape the destiny of this club. It was lovely to see how this friends to lovers relationship was formed and developed. She didn't back down from anyone and could more than hold her own in any situation.

While this was an MC book, it was different than many that I have read. While it discussed some if the seedier things that occur, this club is anything but. They try and help people. It was a different side of things and was an interesting read. It also dealt with how they came to be the way they are today.

This was my first book in the Four Horsemen Series and I truly enjoyed it. I was able to pick it up and easily follow the story-line and characters without any issues at all! (Though I will confess that I did enjoy it so much that I may have exercised my #1click finger and bought some more so that I can get better acquainted with the rest of the gang!)

I was glad to see that finally we get an older woman with a younger man, I am so sick of the other way around. But with that said it was probably a little more of an age difference than I expected but whatever if it's okay for guys to be with 20+ years younger twits, it should be okay for the a woman to be with a 10+ year younger guy. Anyway that's more about books in general so off that now.

I really liked Eddie and Captain's story. I can't say I am crazy about the new villain in Hell and how Eddie fell right into that mess because I thought she would be smarter than that but it at that same time that was a nice twist. Well other than Joker turning out to be a whoring piece of shit, that just really pissed me off. I was hoping he would come back from the dead so he could be junk punched repeatedly, asshole. I guess we now know where Ryker's assholeness comes from, he totally annoyed a few times in this story.

Their story wasn't quite as in depth to me as far as romance, for some reason I felt a little detached from them. I liked them, I just wasn't feeling them like I thought I would. But I am glad to see them get their HEA.

However I am feeling Shep and Pretty Boy. Oh and I am really feeling Steele and hopefully the lawyer. I have to say I loved the lawyer lady, she was pretty awesome. So I am going to continue on to Shep and Pretty Boy to see how they finally get their issues worked out. Hopefully the Beauregard mess won't drag on too long. These books are great about not being cliffhangers but I hate when something in the plot gets drug out too long in a series because it tends to get stale. But I will hold out on my thoughts on that as the series progresses.

Captain has always carried a torch for Eddie but has not had the chance to have her, until now. Eddie still carries a torch for her dead husband, can she get past that. What will the future hold for Eddie, Captain and the Four Horseman MC Books when secrets are revealed.

I love the characters in this book. Eddie is an older women who has raised her children and been immersed in the club even though her husband has been gone for some time. She is a strong women who puts everyone before herself. She has a hard time letting go of Joker and moving on for herself. Captain is a strong willed man but has given Eddie the time and space she has needed. She is the only women for him. I did love that the h was older than the H. I also loved that you see into the secondary characters lives also. You will invest yourself in the characters and want to read all of the past books and future books in this series.

The first part of the story was mostly about the relationship between Eddie and Captain with some club business thrown in. Then the story turned and there were some strong secrets thrown in the mix that changed everything. Along with this came kidnapping, threats, FBI, murder and plenty of angst that will keep your heart pounding.

The story wrapped up things with Eddie and Captain but left plenty of opening for the future of the club with the changes that happened. This is book 4 in this series but can be read as a standalone. I have not read the other books but loved this one and will be looking into the other books.

This was another great addition to the Four Horsemen MC series. I would say that this installment was the tamest of the books up to this point. This couple wasn’t as explosive as the other couples that I’ve come to love. Their love was built over decades of longing from afar. I know that this was Captain’s and Eddie’s story but I feel that the motorcycle club’s politics and issues outshined them. Maybe that was the point. I definitely see this book a transition point for the Four Horsemen. Up to this point they’ve been all about vigilante justice. Now I’m not sure what’s going to happen. The club has come to a fork in the road, and only the author knows the direction that they’re headed. I’ll be patiently awaiting the next book in the series.

I was kind of disappointed with this book. It's a little slower than the others in the series and therefore I didn't enjoy it as much. It took me longer to read it and I gave up.

Usually, once I put a book down that's it but I just couldn't completely give up and write it off as a miss. So I picked it back up and unfortunately I struggled to finished.......it just didn't do it for me.

I really can't put my finger on one thing, I just couldn't get into it. I don't think it was the older woman/younger man, or the lame reason Eddie used for not hooking up with Captain, or the Beauregard situation. Maybe it was simply the pace of the book. Who knows??? Anyway, you can't please everyone all the time. This won't deter me from continuing with the series. NEXT!!!

Captain and Eddie's story spans years as they circle each other after her husband is killed in prison. They have worked side by side to change things for the MC they both love. It isn't until now that Captain lets her know how he feels and that he wants to be her man. Eddie hasn't let go of Joker, but that changes when she learns the truth about him and more about Captain as well. I loved Eddie. She was strong and sassy being the one that all relied on throughout the years. She didn't really think of herself until her eyes were opened to Captain's feelings for her. She fought the attraction for a bit, but I loved when she gave in to it. Something for her alone. I also loved that she stood for her man no matter the cost. Their story was fantastic.

I give Devil May Care 4 hearts!

This book is part of a series and I loved it! Captain is President of the Four Horseman MC and he has always been in love with Eddie who is now a widow but still an old lady in the MC. She still pines for her deceased husband! Captain and Eddie have been friends for a long time but Captain wants to step up their relationship! Captain has been keeping a secret and if it comes to light may get him killed by the MC and destroy Eddie and change her feelings toward her deceased husband! Will Captain come clean with the secret or not? Will Eddie realize what is in front of her and start to live again? To get the answers you will need to read the book!

This is the 4th book in the series and they keep getting better and better. I had a really hard time putting the book down, I had actually started reading another book, but I just had to find out how this one ended before I could pick up the other one again. Now I would recommend reading the books in order since they pretty much pick up were the other has left off. However you could still enjoy it if you had not had the chance yet. I love the characters and the storyline, and you pretty much can't go wrong with some sexy bikers and strong female leads. There was action and some steamy romance, and refreshingly enough with somebody older than 20. I can't wait what will happen next.

Captain the president of the Horsemen MC and Eddie the momma bear of the Horsemen have been dancing around each other for years and they've finally decided to act on their feelings. But sins from the past kind of put a damper on their budding relationship. And put Byron Beauregard in the mix and things are going straight to hell. I like that the club always rallies around Eddie and would do anything for her. I understand why Captain did what he did and he saved a lot of lives. In the end, after 30 years of being in love with Eddie, Captain got his HEA.

Man the sexual tension between Eddie and Captain could be cut with a butter knife from previous book…it was awesome to finally see them get together! Both have such tumultuous backgrounds and it’s such a shame so much time passed for these two before they got together. I appreciated how everything unfolded for these two. They didn’t have an easy time getting to the point when they got together, so it made sense that it wouldn’t be easy going after they took the leap! I’m looking forward to seeing how these two grow in future books!
