Gunslinger Jace Cutter is home to take over the running of his father’s ranch after the crippling stroke his Daddy suffered. Jace is full of regrets, and is determined to prove that he is Big Joe’s son and able run the huge ranch in the manner his Daddy would!
Liberty Sommers is furious that Jace is home and due to inherit the ranch after putting his father through the hell of worrying about him daily for the last eight years. The feisty redhead is determined to scare him to death and send him running. Jace is startled when he hears the loud scream in the middle of the night and his gun is in his hand as he hit the floor, prepared to kill the Indians that were attacking the ranch... only, there were no Indians.
He checked on his Daddy and the housekeeper and felt like a fool for over-reacting. When it happened again, he realized the source was coming from the tiny attic space in his bedroom, and he suspected that the Sommers girl everyone had been warning him about was up to mischief. He waited for Liberty to strike again, and when she did, he promised himself she was going to get the tanning of her life!
Jace wasn’t prepared to learn that Liberty was a lovely young woman instead of a little girl, but her hotheaded temper earned her a good spanking, and Jace didn’t care that she was grown. He felt that a spanking was exactly was the redhead needed and was going to get!
WHEN A MAN SAYS 'NO', IT MAKES US CRAZY What a fun western, that actually covers two couples. Gunslinger Jace Cutter has returned home to Cutter, and the family ranch after his father, Big Joe, has a major stroke. Liberty Sommers is known as Hell on Wheels, with a foul mouth that shocks men, and sure isn't considered a lady. These two tangle with a battle of wills, words and Jace taking her in hand, multiple times. Jace's friend and gunslinger, Wade Zeller comes to Cutter to take the job of Sheriff and has heard from Jace about Cecily. Wade hears her badmouthing Liberty and takes her in hand. The marriages keep these men on their toes, with two sassy women. The plot kept me captivated, and the pages turning. The characters are entertaining, the dialog humorous. I love when a story has several HEA moments.
A laugh out loud novel with two sassy women and two former gun slingers. Libby is the "firecracker" with a quick temper and strong loyalty to those she loves. Old Joe became her guardian at age 15, and now his son Jace is returning since Joe had a severe stroke. Libby and Jace are at odds from the beginning as she tries to scare him off. Their passion soon turns to love.
Meanwhile in town, Libby's arch enemy and mayor's daughter Cece is determined to ruin Libby's reputation and upcoming wedding. Jace has gotten his good friend Wade to take the position of sheriff. He takes a shine to Cece, and has a shotgun wedding after her father catches Wade spanking her thin drawers.
Lots of sparks. Lots of laughter and love. Lots of spankings.
I love a Laurell Joseph story! This tells the story of Jace and Liberty. Liberty is feisty and very untraditional woman. Jace decides to take her in hand and gives her a lot of spankings. We also learn about Jace’s friend Wade and his wife Cece. Cece and Liberty are not friends, but they eventually learn to get along. I enjoyed this story because it is not your typical western where the girl must be tamed and become a little lamb. Cece and Liberty might be tamed, but they are never going to be a little lamb! I give this story 5 stars.
4 stars I like this author’s works. This was a cute story of the old west and two women who are shouting enemies who get the men they need to take them in hand. The spankings were light by hand and hair brush and wood plank. The women are both spitfires. There are several sub stories about gangs, and a stroke and such and teaching the ladies to obey. It was a cute read.
We got two love stories for the price of one. I enjoyed the two stories, with spankings, action, relationship building and good storyline. I would have liked even better if the story was made longer or the second story added to and made its own story. I still enjoyed it.
This is a great book! Laurel Joseph knows how to write a sweet western romance and this is a perfect example. Jace and Liberty make quite the pair although it takes them a little bit to figure that out but the ride is so much fun! Loved it!
