Five best friends. Four files full of secrets. One dinner where loyalty runs out.
For fifteen years, Charlie Redding has been the one her friends trust when they need a problem fixed.
Charlie protects the secrets. Cleans up the messes. And keeps the screenshots, dates, names, facts.
Not leverage, she tells herself. Just a way to keep the truth straight.
Now Charlie’s own life is quietly falling apart, and her friends barely seem to notice. They just expect her to keep holding theirs together.
Then Charlie hears something she was never meant to hear—and realizes exactly where she stands.
She doesn't cry or yell. She simply stops containing the truth. Suddenly, every harmless secret has consequences. And now one woman is dead.
The others need to get their story straight. Because Charlie isn’t the only woman with something to lose. And she may not be the most dangerous one in the room.
ARC Copy Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ No Harmless Secrets Author Paige Monroe Publication date September 15, 2026
First, I would really like to thank Paige and Booksprout for sharing this fantastic read with me before publication.
Where do I even start? Initially, the story took off on the slower side for me, but rather quickly, it turned into a fast-paced, page-turning read that I couldn’t put down.
“Five best friends. Four files full of secrets. One dinner where loyalty runs out.

She has the screenshots. The dates. The names. The truth.
When Charlie realizes her friends have been taking her loyalty for granted, she stops protecting them. One by one, their secrets begin to surface.
Then one of the women is dead.
Now the others need to get their story straight.
Because Charlie knows exactly what they're capable of.
And she may not be the most dangerous woman in the room.”
This was such an intriguing read, and once the story picked up, I found myself completely invested. The secrets, tension, and twists kept me turning the pages, wondering just who could be trusted and what would happen next.
Definitely a book for readers who enjoy suspense, secrets, betrayal, and plenty of twists! Be sure to add it to your TBR!
Some books you can read put-down and not think about again this one is not that kind of story. Charlie is the woman her friends turn to with their secrets and she has a files for each one of them along with the things they lean on her to help out with. The many twists is what kept me turning the pages having to know which fire will burn out and which will be come inferno and that answer doesn't come till the end of the book that I couldn't put-down.
I am giving this ARC review from a "male" perspective, all of whom night not agree with me (at least not aloud). I don't understand the motivations of most people. Women even less so.
I know this is fiction but I have overheard arguments between women and how they keep secrets. My understanding is that this depiction is fairly accurate.
Even as a guy this sounded like a plot that I would find intriguing and that i would enjoy so I jumped right in.
For a short time it took getting used to the flow but it smoothed out for me. Things began to happen, pieces started to appear, and I got that itch when something doesn't seem right. I like to try figure out why I felt that way. This was a look at five long time childhood friends now adult women. For me it was interesting to be watching this from outside even though Charley is the main point of view. To see how people can keep secrets even from their besties with disregard for any consequences.
Would you keep secrets from your nearest and dearest friends? Would you think that wise? Surely, a few little secrets are harmless. Those things that you have done that you are ashamed of now become a part of you. But close lifelong friends shouldn't have secrets from each other.
You know that one friend in your group that you feel you can trust to answer when you call. Who will come to your aid and keep the embarrassing and harmless secrets to themself. This is about that friend and about what happens when you take them for granted.
This was a terrific read. There are no "racing to find out" parts but what there is is a steady stream of "don't really want to put down" bits. What happens when the fixer gets broken? The one who holds everyone's darkest secrets. Who is going to fix her situation. What a deliciously dark peek at a group of friends who, deep down, really aren't. I thoroughly enjoyed the read, 100%. I received a copy of this book via the author and I voluntarily leave my opinion of the tale.
I think many of us can relate to the feeling of annoyance when it seems your friends only call when they need something, but what about when you learn they only keep you around because you're good at helping them out? In some ways this shows how dangerous trust can be if misplaced and in others it shows what happens when the wrong (or right?) person feels used.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is an intriguing, gripping psychological thriller that took me on a wild ride! It’s filled with mystery, suspense, drama and twists. It started out a bit slow but, soon picked up steam and was hard to put down. A great read.
This book pulled me in from the beginning and never let go! Five women who have been best friends for fifteen years, trust each other enough that they tell each other everything! Maybe almost everything!! For all that time Charlie has always been the one to fix Talia, Addison, Bryn and Whitney’s problems. She was meticulous, keeping spreadsheets, screenshots, dates, names and anything else of importance. She was always there to clean up their messes. They relied on her. They took her for granted. Charlie starts to realize things are kind of one sided. She is here for them, but are they here for her? What follows is a tense psychological thriller that had me finishing this book in one day. The twist at the end was totally unexpected! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The characters were well developed and the pacing was perfect! Thank you to Paige Monroe for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

That is the question that swirled around my mind as I read this wonderful story. To find out the answers, you will need to read it! It takes you to many places throughout their lives, and then you get the nitty-gritty answers! Thank you, Paige Monroe, for a good story. I received a complimentary arc copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Charlie Redding has held the friendships and the lives of four other friends for fifteen years. They need her. She has kept their secrets, fixed their problems and has been a loyal friend to each one of them, until one day she isn’t. What would you do if you realized that your friends took you for granted and tested your loyalty? You must read this excellent book to find out what Charlie does. Thank you to the Author for this intriguing book. I received a complimentary copy of this book without remuneration and this is my own opinion.
The novel started slowly for me but picked up quickly. Charlie is the one the 3 friends turned to when something needed fixed. Charlie hears them talking about her and realizes that they only care about her taking care of and protecting them. Charlie stops and things unravel. A very exciting conclusion.
A definite five star read! Charlie keeps secrets, Charlie is the go-to friend. The fixer. And she keeps files. Until one friend dies. Whispers Charlie hears put her on guard. The friends ignore Charlies trouble. True friends or true liars? The files are growing. A fast paced story, great characters and a plausible storyline. Another slam-dunk by Paige Monroe!
